Emmy skipped the pleasantries, her voice laced with urgency. "Why didn't James leave with you?"
Will closed the distance in a few quick strides, lowering his voice for a rapid report. "He has his own arrangements, Emmy. He ordered us to wait until the men below evacuated, then destroy all the wooden crates and oil barrels on the beach."
Emmy looked back down at the chaotic shoreline. She gritted her teeth, her words rushing out. "Their main force has already retreated onto the ships, but there's another batch of mercenaries trying to rush up the hill!"
Will's eyes darkened with lethal intent. He snatched a sniper rifle straight from the hands of a nearby bodyguard. "I'll handle them." Before his words even faded, he was already in position, throwing himself prone at the edge of the dirt slope and pulling the bolt back with a sharp click.
Brett, Zachary, and Quincy didn't waste a single breath. They quickly seized spare firearms from the surrounding security detail, dropping to the ground and instantly entering combat mode.
Deafening gunfire erupted as a dense net of suppressive fire rained down on the mercenaries attempting to charge the hill.
Through his scope, Quincy saw the cargo ship had already left the coastline. He whipped his head around and roared at Tyler. "Brother, hurry! Use the grenades! Blow up all those wooden crates on the beach. They're packed with gasoline and ammunition!"
Tyler's face twisted in visible agony at the thought of wasting good supplies. He hesitated, keeping his finger off the trigger. "That is such a waste! We burned through so much ammo getting here, and we're running dry. Why don't we just charge down, wipe out those scumbags, and take the gear for ourselves?"
Quincy didn't stop firing for a second, letting out a cold scoff. "Don't cry over this scrap metal. We just took out an entire armory of theirs. Once we reunite with the others, you can have your pick of the loot."
Tyler's eyes lit up immediately. "Damn it, why didn't you say so?" Without another moment of hesitation, he mounted the grenade launcher and took aim at the massive pile of solid wood crates below.
