Will took a deep breath, a fleeting, distant look entering his eyes. "I feel like I accidentally visited a parallel world. In that world, I saw you, Abriella, Steve, and even Emmy and Dean. I thought it was just a wild, nonsensical coma dream. But after hearing your conversation just now, I think it was real."
James's dark eyes sharpened instantly. "What exactly did you dream about?" he asked, his voice dropping low.
Will quickly organized his chaotic thoughts and spilled everything. "I dreamed that your quick marriage wife was a scammer who took your money and ran off with another man. I helped you track her down. During that investigation, I met Abriella, who was working as a private investigator at the time." Will's eyes softened instinctively at the mention of his wife, but quickly grew serious again. "We worked together to help you recover some of your money. Later on, Abriella suddenly offered to be my sugar daddy, and we ended up together. I found out later she only did it to make Steve jealous. But I didn't care because I truly loved her, so I proposed and married her."
Will looked at James, his gaze burning with intensity. "James, did you know why I picked April 16th for our wedding day? It was because in that dream, that was the exact day we got married. We had a great life in that dream, and we even had several kids." Will's tone suddenly grew heavy. "But one day, Abriella was crying uncontrollably. She took me to a funeral. It was Emmy and Dean's funeral. In the dream, Abriella cried and told me Emmy died from a sudden hemorrhage. And Dean slit his wrists right after she passed. Until the very end, they were legally married."
James froze completely, staring at Will in absolute disbelief. He suddenly recalled Steve waking up from his own critical injuries, rambling about a strange dream where James's wife had stolen his money and run off with another man. He never imagined that a parallel timeline existed where all of their destinies played out. Or rather, it wasn't a parallel timeline at all. It was their past life!
In this massive web of cause and effect, only Emmy and Dean had retained their memories when they were sent back. The rest of them could only catch fleeting glimpses of their past lives during their most vulnerable, near death moments. James's tall frame cast a lonely, dark shadow in the dim container. "What else did you dream about?" he pressed, staring intently at Will.
