At the mention of that name, the boy's eyes instantly burst with an almost fanatical admiration.
"Speaking of him, that man named James is also from The States. When Hector forced us to build those underground bunkers, the jealous warlords nearby would always come to attack. But every single time, before the artillery even hit, he was the first to realize something was wrong. He always managed to drag us worthless laborers out from under the bodies."
Coby held out his arms, gesturing toward a massively built physique. "I saw him from a distance once. He was pure muscle. When he flexed, the veins in his arms bulged like tree roots. He was incredibly strong. He could do the work of three or four grown men by himself. And whenever a firefight broke out, even though he could have easily run, he never just saved his own life. He always came back to pull us out."
The boy's eyes grew brighter the more he spoke, glowing with absolute submission to true strength.
"He even gave advice to the overseers whipping us. As long as they followed his structural suggestions, the work went way faster, and we suffered a lot less. We all respected him immensely in private. And because of that respect, he managed to learn the locations of every single one of Hector's secret military bases right from our mouths."
Coby took a deep breath, looking as though he were recounting a legendary myth.
"Just a few hours before the Fiji general attacked, he secretly had someone pass a message to us bottom-tier laborers. He told us to get ready, and the second we heard any commotion outside, to drop everything and run. That's the only reason we managed to survive. It was because he broadcast all the coordinates that the general's bombs hit their targets perfectly, taking out all of Hector's heavy artillery points and completely blinding that old fox."
"You have to understand, the general brought the regular army to attack Hector countless times over the past few months, and they never even breached the outer perimeter. So the fact that Hector's cartel was completely uprooted last night... half the credit goes to James."
Emmy leaned against the stone wall, her eyes slowly reddening as she listened to the boy's story. A powerful wave of sorrow and pride rushed straight to her nose.
So James had infiltrated this lawless wasteland, enduring absolute humiliation as the lowest common laborer, purely to map out the terrain and dismantle this monstrous syndicate from the inside out.
But after a brief surge of emotion, Emmy's brilliant mind instantly locked onto a logical flaw. She jerked her head up and asked Coby, "If you know all about what he did, how could Hector not know?"
