James was just seconds away from catching the edge of her jacket when everything exploded into chaos.
Boom.
The blast shook the entire hall. Before anyone could catch their breath, bullets shredded the glass wall above, raining shards down on the crowd like a violent storm.
Screams ripped through the dome, echoing off the walls.
Emmy had just spun around to run when the gunfire hit. Instinct took over. She dropped to the floor, arms over her head, heart pounding in her ears. She risked a glance back at the stage.
Mr. Nelson stood alone in the spotlight, his head suddenly riddled with holes. There was no blood, just wisps of blue smoke curling into the air. The handsome mask of a face peeled away, exposing a silver metal skull and sparking wires underneath.
For one frozen second, the whole world went silent.
Then the panic hit.
“It’s a robot!”
“Damn it, not again!”
“James isn’t even up there!”
Someone in the crowd started cursing, his voice thick with a Middle Eastern accent.
“Damn it, he slipped away again!”
“Find him! He’s still here! Find him and kill him!”
With that, the gunmen hidden in the shadows opened fire on everyone. The crowd erupted, people pushing and shoving, desperate to reach the exits, screaming as they ran.
Emmy got swept up in the stampede, barely able to keep her balance. Someone crashed into her, hard, and her hat went flying. Her uneven, hastily cut hair—her best attempt at a disguise—was suddenly on full display.
“My hat…”
She reached out on reflex, but it was too late. Someone stomped on it in the chaos, grinding it into the floor.
Left with no other choice, Emmy wrapped her arms around her head and ran with the crowd, fighting to stay on her feet.
Not far away, James spotted her small figure nearly knocked over by the crush of bodies. Rage and fear shot through him.
The gun fired one last time, right into the man’s own chest.
But even those couple of seconds were enough for the crowd to carry Emmy farther away.
“There! Fire over there!”
“Don’t let him escape!”
Gunmen closed in from every direction, bullets flying without mercy.
Gunfire rattled. People screamed. Someone cried out for help.
Innocent bystanders who hadn’t managed to escape were hit, blood spreading across the floor, their cries echoing through the chaos.
James rolled behind a nearby pillar, bullets tearing into the concrete, shards of stone slicing his cheek.
But his eyes never left the path Emmy had taken.

chapter 1251 has no wording, just the chapter number...
What I was dreading the most just happened, I think I need to move on from this story and read something else. This story is breaking my heart....

Hopefully Emmy is level headed like she normally is and they can get past this. I'm praying!...
OMG! How can this be happening! If there is an issue in a marriage shouldn't it be talked through instead of someone believing rumors?...
Really, why is there always some home wrecker added to these stories? I always enjoyed reading this until now. Had to go and ruin a beautiful love story....
I enjoy reading this. I like that the storyline isn’t drawn out and moves on. I also appreciate chapters being added almost everyday, thank you....
