Abriella let out a sigh. “It’s for Emmy.”

The whole room went quiet.

She managed a small, helpless smile. “Even though Emmy can’t come back yet, and we can’t reach her, we still have to celebrate her birthday.” She glanced at the others. “Let’s record it. When she’s home, we’ll show her.”

She set her phone on the table, propped it up, and switched on the camera.

Krystina quietly stepped in front of the lens.

Sylvia stood by, her feelings a tangled mess. Ever since Emmy’s disappearance, they’d tried everything—contacts, press, even pulling international strings—but nothing seemed to work. Abriella looked like she’d been hit by a truck. Her jealousy was impossible to hide. “No way. That’s so unfair. Why don’t I have one? I want a gift from Emmy too!”
