Chapter 105
Anna greeted her with perfect manners.
Verena nodded. “Such a pretty girl.”
Seeing Verena praise her, Anna couldn’t help feeling smug inside
Verena was known for her sharp eyes and strict standards. She almost never handed out compliments.
But today…
…Verena actually praised her.
Clearly, Verena must really have taken a liking to her.

From what Anna knew, Verena and Joel had a son named Oliver, who was thirty-two and super accomplished. Too bad he’d been married for three years and already had a son.
So Verena wasn’t someone Anna needed to butter up.
But she couldn’t afford to get on Verena’s bad side, since she was the Berenson family matriarch.
“Thank you for the compliment, Aunt Verena,” Anna said, and then quickly added, “Aunt Verena, I’d like to go see Mrs.
Berenson now.”
Verena nodded. “Come with me.”
Anna hurried after Verena.
When they entered the inner room,
they saw Mrs. Berenson lying in bed.
Anna’s eyes reddened at once. She hurried to Mrs. Berenson’s side, grabbed her hand, her voice trembling as she choked out, “Mrs. Berenson, are you feeling any better? Can you hear me?”
Eliana felt herself growing increasingly uncomfortable watching Anna put on such an emotional act.
Anna’s over-the-top display made it seem like she was devastated.
Someone who didn’t know better would think she and Mrs. Berenson were so close, and they were family.
In reality, they’d only met twice, practically strangers.
What a phony!
Verena couldn’t help frowning.
No wonder Eliana couldn’t stand Anna.
Verena was starting to feel the same way about this girl’s antics.
Anna’s dramatics left Jasper and Sean, who were in the room, momentarily stunned.
The two men exchanged a look, clearly confused by the scene.
‘Why is she crying like someone died?’ they both wondered.
Eliana quickly jumped in, “Jasper, Sean, let me introduce you. This is Anna, Mrs. Sullivan’s granddaughter from Kindowen.”

Then she turned to Anna, “Anna, these are Uncle Jasper and Uncle Sean.”

Anna wiped her tears, greeting Jasper and Sean, “Uncle Jasper, Uncle Sean, I’m Anna Bailey. You can just call me Anna
Jasper and Sean nodded.
Anna then turned to Verena. “Aunt Verena, my grandma actually wanted to come visit Mrs. Berenson herself, but her health hasn’t been great these last few years. Just before leaving, her migraines flared up, so my mom had to stay home to look after her and Uncle Leo. I happened to be in Minttown, so my grandma let me come on her behalf.”
Verena nodded, understanding Mrs. Sullivan’s situation completely.
“Tell your grandma to focus on her health. Everything else is taken care of.”
“Aunt Verena, what’s Mrs. Berenson’s condition now? What did the doctors say?” Anna asked.
Verena sighed and described Mrs. Berenson’s state honestly.
Anna’s eyes narrowed slightly when she heard it.
‘Needle Crossing?’ she mused.
‘So Mrs. Berenson’s situation isn’t totally hopeless. It just needs a real expert!’
‘If…’
‘If I could find a top-ranked doctor who could pull Mrs. Berenson back from death’s door, wouldn’t I be the Berenson family’s savior?’
‘After that, I’d have anything I wanted in Minttown.’

Meanwhile,
Yvonne found Nerissa’s new place with the address Clive gave her.
It was called Winton Villas.
When Yvonne arrived, Hunter was home.
“Hello, sir. Does Ms. Jamison live here?” Yvonne asked.
Hunter looked at Yvonne, a bit surprised, and then asked, “Are you here to see Nerissa?”
Yvonne nodded. “Yes, I need to talk to Ms. Jamison about something. I also brought her some New Year’s gifts.”
“Come in! I’m Nerissa’s grandpa,” Hunter said, immediately ushering Yvonne inside.
“So you’re Mr. Jamison,” Yvonne said.
Yvonne followed him inside.
Hunter hurried off to make some tea for Yvonne.
Yvonne took the tea with both hands. “Mr. Jamison, is Ms. Jamison not home?”
Hunter replied, “Nerissa’s off traveling in Minttown.”
