Chapter 107
Chapter 107
Victor just stared at Nerissa, completely taken aback and unable to react for a long time.
‘She looks just like her.
‘It’s uncanny. She looks exactly like her.
“Why does this girl look so much like my sister, who’s been missing for years?’ Victor wondered.
It wasn’t just that she looked like his missing sister.
He could even see hints of Mrs. Berenson in her face.
In that moment, Victor was frozen, completely overwhelmed by emotion.
He just stood there, lost and helpless, not knowing what to do next.
His eyes grew hot, tears threatening to spill over.
He was right on the edge of breaking down.
Probably no one could ever truly understand what he was going through.
It’s been nineteen long years since he last saw his sister.
He had no idea where she was now.
He didn’t even know if she was alright these days.

Seeing her husband spacing out, Verena gently squeezed his arm, trying to snap him out of it. “Victor, this is Dr. Jamison,” she said softly.

Hearing Verena’s voice, Victor finally snapped out of it. He took a deep breath, looked at Nerissa, and tried to steady himself. “Hello, Dr. Jamison. I’m Victor Berenson.”
“Hello, Mr. Berenson,” Nerissa replied.
Her voice sounded just like it did over the phone.
She had such a nice voice, he thought to himself.
Staring at Nerissa’s familiar face, Victor was still in a bit of a haze. He shook himself out of it, then said, “Ms. Jamison, please come this way. The car is right over here.”
“Okay, Nerissa replied.
She gave a slight nod and stepped forward.
For some reason, even though this was her first time meeting Victor, Nerissa couldn’t shake the strange feeling that they’d
met before.
She didn’t feel like she was meeting someone new.
Instead, it felt like she was standing before a respected elder from her own family.
There was a kind of childlike respect and warmth in her heart, something she couldn’t quite put into words.

Even though it was their first time meeting, Nerissa didn’t feel any of the usual distance or formality you’d expect between
strangers.
The Berensons fell in step behind Nerissa, following her lead.
Verena lowered her voice, curiosity written all over her face. “Victor, what was up with you just now?”
She’d never seen him like that before.
The look he gave Nerissa was just… off.
That was seriously weird.
Victor tried to hide his shock and lowered his voice as well. “Don’t you think Dr. Jamison really reminds you of someone?”
‘She looks just like someone…’ Victor thought, still in a daze.
“Like who?” Verena asked, her curiosity piqued.
“Charlotte,” Victor said, his voice trembling with emotion.
As soon as Victor said that, Verena was stunned.
Then it hit her.
‘No wonder,’ she thought.
‘No wonder I felt an instant connection with this girl the very first time I met her.
‘That explains it!’ she realized.
Verena found herself completely engulfed by a strange, indescribable feeling.
“Verena,” Victor pressed, “don’t you think she looks just like Charlotte?”
Verena watched Nerissa’s back and nodded. “Ms. Jamison really does look a lot like Charlotte.”
Back in the day, Charlotte was the most beautiful woman in Minttown.
Nerissa might not be a carbon copy, but when it came to looks and figure, she was every bit as stunning as Charlotte.
Honestly, she might even have the edge.
But the most jaw-dropping thing was their eyes-they were exactly the same.
They both had those delicate, peach blossom eyes.
It felt like a tidal wave had crashed through their hearts-the Berensons were both completely floored.
As they chatted, they found themselves already by the car.
Victor hurried over and held the car door open for Nerissa. “Dr. Jamison, please.”
The driver standing nearby stared in disbelief, his eyes wide with shock.
He’d never seen Victor show anyone this much respect
before.
And the craziest part? She was just a kid, barely eighteen or nineteen.

‘Guess this Dr. Jamison is really something else,’ the driver thought.
Verena got in after her. “Dr. Jamison, let’s sit together in the back.”
Then she turned to Victor. “Why don’t you ride shotgun?”
“Okay.”
Victor nodded, then slid into the passenger seat up front.
Verena and Nerissa went to the back seat, sitting close together, side by side.
After they got in the car, Verena asked, “Dr. Jamison, are you from Aosthorne as well, like Aunt Yvonne?”

“No,” Nerissa replied, giving a slight shake of her head. “My grandpa and I are living in Aosthorne right now, but our family’s roots are in Veridian City.”
Veridian City. Back in those days, Leo’s family was originally from Prosper City, so when he traveled home for the ancestral rites, Prosper City was naturally his destination.
The place where the accident happened was actually more than three thousand kilometers away from Veridian City.
Even though Verena was a bit puzzled, she didn’t let it show. She continued, “Dr. Jamison, to be honest, the moment I saw you, I felt an instant connection-like running into a relative I haven’t seen in years. My husband and I always wished for a daughter, but we never got one. And even our son and his wife haven’t given us a granddaughter. By the way, Dr. Jamison, if you don’t mind me asking, how old are you?”
The Berenson family had always been a house full of sons-never a single daughter in sight.
The fourth Berenson son and his wife kept trying for a girl, but after three pregnancies, all they got were boys.
They were even thinking about giving it one more shot and going for a fourth.
They went to consult a master to see if their luck would ever change.
But the master told them straight up-they just weren’t destined to have a daughter. So, they finally let go of the idea of trying for a fourth child.
“I’m nineteen-almost twenty,” Nerissa said.
‘Nineteen.
‘Her age really does match up,’ Verena thought to herself.
Verena wanted to ask Nerissa a few more things, but she held back, thinking, ‘It’s not really cool to dig into someone’s private life when you’ve just met. So she decided to drop it for now.
Just then, Verena got a call from Yvonne, asking if Nerissa had arrived yet.
Verena picked up and said, “Aunt, no need to worry. Dr. Jamison’s with us now.”
“That’s great to hear,” Yvonne replied. “I’m already at the airport, I should be landing at Minttown International Airport around one this afternoon.”
“Alright, Aunt,” Verena said.
The hotel and the hospital were pretty close to each other.
They got there in no time-the car pulled up before anyone even realized it.

As soon as the car stopped, Victor hurried out and opened the door for Nerissa, saying, “Ms. Jamison, watch your step.”
“Thanks,” Nerissa said.
“No need to thank me, Dr. Jamison.”
Victor personally gave Verena a hand as she got out of the car.
After getting out of the car, Nerissa, Victor, and Verena walked together toward the hospital entrance.
While they made their way inside, Nerissa turned to ask, “So, how’s Mrs. Berenson doing lately?”
Verena walked side by side with Nerissa, sounding worried. “My mom’s always been pretty healthy. Sure, she’d get a headache or a fever every now and then, but that’s just normal-everyone gets sick sometimes, right? I never imagined that just one fall would knock her out cold like this, and now she won’t wake up at all.”
“So, how many days has Mrs. Berenson been out like this?” Nerissa asked.
“She took that fall the night before last, so it’s been two days now,” Verena replied.
Nerissa nodded slightly, then asked, “Does Mrs. Berenson have any underlying health conditions? Like diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or high blood sugar?”
Verena shook her head. “My mom goes in for regular check-ups, and she doesn’t have diabetes, high cholesterol, or high blood sugar. But this year, her blood pressure’s been kind of all over the place-sometimes it’s high, sometimes it drops low.”
Just as Eric Campbell was about to head to Mrs. Berenson’s room to check on her, he was about to step into the elevator when he noticed Victor and Verena coming over, with a young girl walking alongside them.
Her beauty was striking.
Even though she was only rocking a plain black trench coat, she was so eye-catching that you couldn’t help but steal a glance.
Eric had spent years working in the hospital and had seen his fair share of drop-dead gorgeous women, but honestly, almost all of them had some kind of cosmetic enhancement-even the tiniest touch-up never slipped past his perfectionist eyes.
But someone with all-natural beauty like Nerissa? This was the first time he’d ever come across that.
She wasn’t just beautiful-her vibe was rare, almost otherworldly.
‘From the looks of it, she must be related to the Berensons somehow, Eric thought to himself
Eric gave Victor and Verena a respectful greeting, then said, “Weren’t you two going to bring Dr. Jamison over?”
“Yeah, Dr. Jamison is with us now,” Victor said, nodding.
‘Dr. Jamison’s really here?’
Upon hearing that, Eric asked, “So, where’s Dr. Jamison?”
Verena smiled and said, “Dr. Campbell, let me introduce you-this is Dr. Jamison, Nerissa.”
Eric was totally dumbstruck.
‘Wait, her?
This kid is Dr. Jamison?’
Eric was so stunned, he almost thought he was hallucinating. It took him a good few seconds to process what he’d just heard.

Then he turned to Nerissa, eyes wide in disbelief. “Wait, you’re Ms. Jamison-the one who actually knows Needle Crossing?”
