Chapter 125
Hunter wasn’t some naive old man. He knew exactly what he was doing.
‘Blood ties mean nothing to me,’ Hunter thought to himself.
He’d already completely lost faith in his own flesh and blood-his son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.
He couldn’t be more disappointed!
Truth is, when Hunter signed the papers to cut ties, he was only disappointed in Dylan and Winifred. He still had a little hope left for Ivy.
After all, Ivy was his own granddaughter.
Their blood connection was real, and in Hunter’s mind, whatever happened between the adults shouldn’t drag the kids into it.
But after those two meetings, Hunter finally saw Ivy, his so-called granddaughter, for who she really was.
Back then, Winifred had pointed at him and called him a shameless old man.
Hunter had thought Ivy, his own granddaughter, would at least stand up for him.
But Ivy’s reaction was even worse than Winifred’s.
What did Ivy say?
Ivy sneered, “Mom’s right. Old fool, you’d better take a long hard look in the mirror. We’re not even in the same league anymore. From now on, stay away from me-or don’t blame me if I show you no mercy.”
Hearing those words, Hunter felt a wave of cold disappointment wash over him.
To be called an old fool by his own granddaughter…
That kind of pain was something nobody else could ever truly feel-not a soul could understand what Hunter was going through.
From that day forward, Hunter made up his mind, quietly and without telling anyone.
From now on, Nerissa was the only one he’d ever call his granddaughter.
When Ivy heard Hunter’s words, her eyes welled up with tears, feeling utterly wronged. “Grandpa, it’s me, Ivy. Are you really going to abandon me?”
She wasn’t just upset.
She was scared, too.
She was terrified Hunter would truly disown her.

Without her connection to Hunter and Nerissa, how could she ever latch onto the Sullivan and Berenson families, those towering pillars of high society?
Back when Nerissa married Owen, Ivy was green with envy.
Truth was, even ten thousand Calloway families couldn’t hold a candle to the Sullivans and the Berensons!
But now, Hunter was ready to cut her off without a second thought. How could Ivy just let that happen? She knew this was her only ticket into the world of the elite.
If this had happened before, seeing Ivy so upset, Hunter would’ve forgiven her in a heartbeat. But now, he’d wised up. He knew the real reason why Dylan, Winifred, and Ivy had suddenly shown up at his place.
They must’ve caught wind of something.
To be precise, they weren’t here to reconnect with him as family.
They were just here to hitch a ride to the top.
As her grandpa, Hunter would never let anyone mess with Nerissa or take advantage of her.
That girl had been through enough already!
Now that she’d finally been reunited with her family, she deserved some happiness for once-not to have people leech off her and drain her dry.
Back then, Nerissa was always the one standing up for him, taking the hits and weathering the storms on his behalf.
But this time, it was his turn to step up for Nerissa, to face all the storms and protect her from everything.
Thinking of this, Hunter glared at Ivy and snorted, “Don’t call me Grandpa. From now on, Nerissa is my only granddaughter!”
Now Ivy was really scared for real.
Thinking back, Hunter had never talked to her with that kind of icy finality before.
‘Is Grandpa really cutting me off?’
Ivy choked up, tears streaming down her face. “Grandpa, I… I’m really your granddaughter! Your own flesh and blood!”
Winifred and Dylan exchanged a look.
you.
Then Winifred spoke up, “Dad, come on, family shouldn’t hold grudges, right? We’re here in person to see
And you never liked Dylan joining our family, did you? Well, after talking it over, we’ve decided to let Ivy take the Jamison name! She can carry on the Jamison family line.”
Winifred paused, then added, “But if you really want Ivy to take the Jamison name, you have to agree to three conditions!”
Dylan nodded. “That’s right, Dad! If you still want Ivy to take the Jamison name and keep the family line going, you have to agree to our three conditions. Why not just accept our terms and make it easy for yourself? Otherwise, if you ever want Ivy to take the Jamison name again, it won’t be so simple.”
That last line was pure threat.
After all, Ivy was Hunter’s only real granddaughter.
Anyone could tell Hunter must have felt a surge of excitement when he heard they were willing to let Ivy take the Jamison name.
Ivy wiped away her tears, her sobs fading.
She fixed her gaze on Hunter, eyes wide and unblinking, desperate for his reply.
‘He won’t refuse, Ivy thought, confidence swelling inside her.
‘No way Grandpa would say no,’ she told herself. ‘He’ll agree to all three conditions for sure!’
Soon, she’d be moving to Kindowen with Nerissa, stepping right into the life she’d always dreamed of.
Ivy was practically buzzing with
Hunter just stared at the three of them, his eyes cold and unyielding. “The severance papers are signed. From now on, I have nothing to do with any of you. Whatever Ivy’s last name is, or whose family she belongs to, that’s none of my concern. If you three keep pestering me and Nerissa, with how easy it is to go viral these days, I won’t hesitate to use my real name and ID to blast you all over social media-let everyone see just how ungrateful, heartless, and shameless you really are!”
As he spoke, Hunter fixed his gaze on Winifred and Ivy. “Do you remember what you two said to me the last time we met at Cityview Estates?”
At those words, both Winifred and Ivy went pale.
Winifred was the first to recover, forcing a smile. “Dad, Ivy and I didn’t say anything that day. Maybe you’re just remembering it wrong?”
“Yeah, Grandpa, you’re my real grandpa. Why would I ever say anything bad to you?” Ivy chimed in, her voice
sweet and innocent.
As long as they kept denying it, no one could prove what they’d actually said that day.
–
Hunter continued, “There was a security camera right by the road that day. I already had the property management pull the footage for me, and it’s sitting right on my phone. So tell me if I upload that video, do you think the internet won’t roast you alive?”
Hunter wasn’t just making empty threats.
He really did get the video from the property management.
With Nerissa getting more impressive by the day, Hunter knew these three wolves inside out. He was certain
that once they caught wind of Nerissa’s true strength, they’d show up like vultures, trying to suck her dry.
So he’d been ready for this all along.
The Sullivans and the Berensons were powerhouse families-definitely not your average folks. If those three dared to flip the narrative or start spreading lies online, Hunter would just drop the footage for everyone to see, no hesitation.
When Hunter dropped that bombshell, Dylan, Winifred, and Ivy all broke out in a cold sweat.
None of them had expected Hunter to go this far-he’d actually gone and pulled the security footage!
‘Even a tiger wouldn’t eat its own cubs!
‘How could he be this ruthless?
‘He’s even on guard against his own son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter?’ they thought, disbelief washing over them.
Ivy’s legs gave out and she fell to her knees, tears streaming down her face as she pleaded, “Grandpa, I swear I know I messed up! Please, just forgive me this one time! I promise I’ll be a good granddaughter to you from
now on!”
