Chapter 27 A Sense Of Superiority
No one knew just how thrilled Owen was right now.
Lennox was a big shot.
Not to mention that very few in Aosthorne had the chance to work with him.
Across all of Cilowesad, there were barely any.
But now, Owen had effortlessly secured a partnership with Stratford Group.
Almost no one in Cilowesad could boast such an honor.
At this moment, Owen wanted nothing more than to shout the good news to the whole world.
Yet, to keep from showing any hint of excitement in front of Luke, he maintained his usual calm and humble demeanor. I’m truly grateful you see potential in me, Mr. Merritt. I will keep working hard and won’t let you down.”
Luke nodded, his eyes filled with genuine admiration. “Okay. Keep up the effort, Mr. Calloway. Even if this deal doesn’t go through, there will be plenty more chances. It’s getting late. I’ll be heading back now.”
Owen didn’t catch Luke’s words.
He took it as polite small talk.
This partnership was a sure thing.
Luke slid into the back seat, rolled down the window, and said goodbye to Owen. “Take care, Mr. Merritt.”
Owen bowed slightly, face full of respect. Only after the car had completely disappeared from sight did he relax. He pulled out his phone and made a call. “Hey, Dyson.
“Start preparing immediately for the partnership with Stratford Group.”
Although the official paperwork for the collaboration hadn’t come through yet, Owen considered it a done deal.
Since they were about to work together, they had to show full commitment and prepare in advance.
Sometimes, one had to be bold and make a statement.
Owen wanted to show all those who once looked down on him exactly how he climbed his way up.
On the other end of the line, Dyson hesitated for a moment before responding, “Understood, Mr. Calloway. I’ll get on it right away.”
Stratford Group stood at the pinnacle of the financial world.
Partnering with Stratford Group was essentially an entry ticket to the international financial arena.
In Cilowesad, countless companies had tried desperately to collaborate with Stratford Group, but in the end, it remained just a dream.
Owen was truly a once-in-a-decade dark horse. Once he made his move, all other companies could only watch with envy.
As Owen’s top assistant, Dyson shared in the pride.
With the company’s upgrade, his own status would rise as well.
Even if he eventually left Calloway Group, other companies would be fighting to hire him.
Soon, thanks to the efforts of Calloway Group’s PR department, the news of Owen’s partnership with Stratford Group spread to every corner of the company.
The next day, as Owen stepped into the office, he overheard employees whispering about him.
“Mr. Calloway is seriously impressive.”
“Kinsbeat Game next door bragged about signing some big-name game exec, but turns out Mr. Calloway just stole their thunder.”
“Mr. Calloway is so amazing.”
“I knew Mr. Calloway would totally crush Kinsbeat Game.”
Owen’s face remained calm, showing no change, but inside, hearing such praise made his steps feel lighter, almost like he was walking on air.
This was only the beginning.
Successfully unlocked!
Once he successfully partnered with Stratford Group and won the Celestial Dome Awards, not just Aosthorne but the entire East Cilowesad region would be his domain.

He would stand at the very top, looking down on all these Insignificant ants.

Meanwhile, at Kinsbeat Game, Clive sat at his desk, sorting through paperwork.
A knock came at the door.
“Come in,” he said.
Clive looked up.
“Mr. Beaumont,” said Zane Lascelles.
“Zane,” Clive said, glancing at the visitor. “Have a seat.”
Zane sat across from Clive, hesitating to speak.
Clive handed him a cigarette. “Just say whatever’s on your mind, Zane.”
Zane took the cigarette. “Mr. Beaumont, have you heard? Stratford Group is about to partner with Calloway Group.”
Clive nodded.
“If you already know, why so calm?” Zane said.
Though Kinsbeat Game had temporarily escaped its financial crisis, it was still on shaky ground.
If Calloway Group truly teamed up with Stratford Group, crushing Kinsbeat Game would be as easy as stepping on an ant.
Clive smiled, “The official documents haven’t been released yet. Who will get the deal is still unknown. No need to stress, Zane.”
In the past, Clive would have been deeply worried, but now he wasn’t concerned at all.
Because Kinsbeat Game had Nerissa.
Zane glanced at Clive, feeling his friend was oversimplifying things.
Sure, Kinsbeat Game had Nerissa now.
But Nerissa was so young.
Not only was she no match for Stratford Group, but she didn’t even have a tenth of Owen’s capability.
And Zane was just a vice president with no real power in the company. He had warned them all he could, but what happened next was beyond his control.
“Anything else?” Clive asked.
Zane handed over some documents. “There’s something here that needs your signature.”
After reviewing the papers, Clive signed.
Once done, Zane continued, “By the way, Mr. Beaumont, do you have time this afternoon? The head of ArtCrea Group wants to meet with you.”
“I’m meeting Ms. Jamison this afternoon. Tomorrow works better,” said Clive.
“Understood,” Zane nodded.
At Encounter, by the window sat a young woman wearing a lake-blue dress.
She had long curly hair and wore a small bowler hat with a butterfly knot.
Under the brim was a delicate, flawless face, like a flower in bloom, with gentle brows and bright eyes.
Occasionally, she sipped her coffee, gazing out at the scenery beyond the window.
“Audrey.” A male voice suddenly broke through the air.
The young woman glanced up slightly, her eyes lighting up with joy. “Owen.”
This was Owen’s first crush, Audrey, the most talented woman in all of Aosthorne.
Audrey had been the runner-up in the SATS for liberal arts.
She was also the first person in decades in Aosthorne to score 135 on the literature exam.
Coupled with her beauty and good family background, she became an instant sensation after an interview following her top score.
It was at that moment she earned the title of Aosthorne’s number one genius.

Owen rolled up his suit sleeves and sat opposite Audrey “Sorry, I’m ten minutes late, Audrey”
“No worries, Owen. I know you’re busy” Audrey lifted her coffee cup and took a sip fly the way. I heard you secured a deal with Stratford Group?”
“Yeah, that’s right” Owen nodded.
Audrey immediately covered her mouth with her hand, her face full of admiration. “Wow. That’s real? Owen, you’re amazing” Owen’s lips curved in a subtle smile, as if downplaying the achievement. “It’s just a small partnership, nothing major”
Working with Stratford Group was only the beginning.
Next, he would become a legend across all of Cilowesad.
Audrey rested her chin in her hands, playfully coquettish. “Owen, I admire you more and more.”
Men enjoyed being admired by women, especially when the woman was as renowned as Aosthorne’s top talent. Owen’s sense of superiority soared.
Just as he was exchanging playful banter with Audrey, a figure suddenly appeared in his line of sight.
She wore a deep burgundy vintage style sleeveless top with traditional buttons, paired with black wide leg pants.
Her waist was sexy, her legs long. The burgundy color made her skin look delicate and radiant.
The moment she entered, all eyes in the cafe turned to her, men and women alike.
No surprise, she was stunningly beautiful, both in looks and presence, top tier in every way.
It was Nerissa.
The moment Owen recognized her, the sparkle of admiration in his eyes instantly turned into thick disgust. ‘What is Nerissa doing here?’ he wondered. ‘Was she stalking me? Yes, it must be.’
After all, Nerissa had done this kind of thing plenty of times before.
She was shameless.
But now they were divorced, yet she still wouldn’t leave him alone.
‘What does Nerissa want?’ he wondered.
Owen quickly figured it out.
Nerissa loved him deeply, but he loved Audrey. Nerissa was jealous of Audrey, unwilling to accept the divorce, so she was stalking him to cause trouble for Audrey.
The thought of Nerissa going after Audrey made Owen frown deeply. He slammed his coffee cup down hard on the table.
The brown liquid splashed all over the surface.
Audrey was startled by Owen’s sudden movement and asked with concern, “Owen, what’s wrong?”
“I saw Nerissa,” Owen lowered his voice. “She’s still bitter about the divorce.”
Audrey looked around but didn’t see Nerissa in her line of sight. Curiosity crept in. “Where is she?”
Owen’s face twisted with disqust. “The one wearing the red top.”
Audrey froze and wondered, ‘A red top?’
“Owen, are you sure?” Audrey said.
There was only one person in the entire café wearing red.
Not only did she have an extraordinary aura, but her beauty was absolutely breathtaking, even someone as stunning as Audrey felt overshadowed.
“Yes.” Owen nodded.
Receiving a definite answer, Audrey suppressed the shock in her eyes. “How did Nerissa change so much after the divorce?”
Change was an understatement.
It was like she had a completely different face beneath that heavy makeup mask. Audrey had never known Nerissa hid such a stunning visage.
A wave of danger washed over Audrey instantly.
‘No way. I can’t let anyone take Owen away from me, she wondered.
“Looks like the divorce hit Nerissa hard. She’s changed so much now, definitely to try and snatch you from me,” said Audrey.

At the end, Audrey sighed again and looked up at Owen, clearly feeling wronged. “Owen, you know me best. You know I’m a straightforward girl who doesn’t have the energy for any petty rivalry.”
When he saw his beloved so tormented by Nerissa, Owen’s heart ached. He squeezed Audrey’s hand. “Wait here. I’ll deal with Nerissa.”
Audrey frowned slightly but responded understandingly, “Don’t, Owen. Nerissa’s had a tough time. She’s acting this way because she loves you so much. For my sake, please don’t cause trouble with her, okay?”
He snapped, “You want me to leave her alone, but when she’s causing you trouble, does she ever think about how hard it is for you? You care about her dignity, but she’s never cared about yours.”
Owen strode straight up to Nerissa, blocking her path. Standing tall, he pointed a finger at her. “Nerissa, what exactly do you want? We’re divorced. The only person I love is Audrey. Can you stop shamelessly stalking me?
“I want you to apologize to Audrey right now and promise never to show up in front of her again. Otherwise, we won’t even be friends.”
