Dumped Then Claimed By A Billionaire (Nerissa and Owen) novel Chapter 28

Chapter 28 The Scumbag Couple

Owen’s last words dripped with a heavy warning.

‘Given how much Nerissa loves me, she must be terrified right now, Isn’t she?’ he wondered. ‘If we couldn’t even stay friends, then from now on we’d just be strangers.

‘Could Nerissa really bear to only be strangers with me? There is no way she can.’

Next, all it would take was the last three words, and Nerissa would probably collapse onto the ground, apologizing to him, crying, and begging for his forgiveness, then sobbing her heart out while apologizing to Audrey.

Owen couldn’t help but feel a bit smug.

Although Nerissa’s behavior disgusted him, there was no denying she had an absolutely stunning face. When she finally collapsed on the floor, apologizing, the men in the café would definitely envy him.

After all, they couldn’t have the goddess, yet they’d be crawling at his feet, begging him for mercy, begging him to forgive her.

Owen imagined this scene and felt even prouder.

“Owen, if you’re crazy, go to the hospital. I don’t treat mental illnesses here,” Nerissa’s voice cut cold through the air, shattering Owen’s fantasy with each deliberate word, as if coated in ice. “Step aside.”

‘Nerissa wanted me to step aside?’ he wondered. Owen was stunned. Clearly, he hadn’t expected that reaction.

‘What’s she doing? Playing hard to get? How ridiculous, he thought.

“Step aside?” Owen snorted and pointed a finger at Nerissa. “What if I don’t? Also, Nerissa, this is your last warning. If you don’t go apologize to Audrey, I won’t look at you again.”

“You won’t let me?” Nerissa raised an eyebrow slightly.

Seeing her like this, Owen’s eyes were filled with disdain. ‘What’s she pretending? he wondered. ‘Clearly, she is crazy in love with me.’

‘Look at her putting on this act. Does Nerissa really dare to hit me? Pathetic.’

Nerissa didn’t waste words. She simply raised her hand, grabbed Owen’s finger, and gently twisted it.

It seemed effortless, but Owen’s face contorted in pain.

Crack.

The sound of a bone snapping echoed in the air.

“Ouch,” Owen screamed.

It hurt so much that it felt like his heart was being torn apart.

Owen thought his finger was about to break.

Nerissa actually dared to lay hands on him.

‘Is she crazy?’ Owen wondered.

Not only Owen couldn’t believe it. Audrey’s eyes widened, too. ‘What has gotten into Nerissa?’ she wondered. ‘Not just her attitude; even her entire demeanor changed completely.’

She had expected Nerissa to cling to Owen, pouring out her love, but Nerissa went in the exact opposite direction.

Audrey’s sense of alarm grew stronger, her hands clenching into tight fists.

Nerissa’s eyes were filled with impatience as she glared at Owen, speaking each word deliberately with a sharp warning. Owen, I’ll say this one more time. I don’t like you, and I’m not stalking you.

“Who you want to be with has nothing to do with me. Stop projecting your feelings and coming here just to boost your ego.

“If you ever come in front of me again spouting nonsense like this, don’t expect to keep that hand.”

The final sentence was icy cold, sending a shiver through Owen’s mind, making him strangely uneasy.

‘No way. Nerissa wouldn’t dislike me. I’m the one Nerissa loves most, he wondered.

Nerissa released Owen’s hand, took out a white handkerchief from her pocket, and lowered her gaze to carefully wipe her finger, as if it had touched something disgusti Successfully unlocked!

After cleaning her finger, she threw the handkerei uectly to the ash can, then turned her eyes toward Clive, who was sitting nearby. “There are too many crazies here. Let’s move somewhere else.”

“Right away, Ms. Jamison.” Clive immediately followed her footsteps.

Watching Nerissa’s retreating back and then Clive trailing behind her, Owen seemed to realize something.

‘Nerissa was putting on a show for Clive, wasn’t she?’ he wondered.

After all, Nerissa was currently acting as a corporate spy at Kinsbeat Game for his sake, so naturally, she couldn’t let Clive discover their connection.

‘Yeah. That has to be it. Just wait, Owen thought.

Thinking about Nerissa planning to feed him business intel on Kinsbeat Game to win his favor, Owen felt a lot better inside. “Owen, are you okay? Does your hand still hurt? Are you hungry?” Audrey suddenly came to her senses, running over to Owen’s side with a face full of concern.

“I’m fine.” Owen took a deep breath and gently pressed his swollen left hand.

“What’s gotten into Nerissa? Even if she’s trying to get your attention or playing hard to get, she shouldn’t have been so rough.” Audrey deliberately emphasized the phrase “playing hard to get.”

Audrey was almost disgusted by Nerissa.

Nerissa was nothing but a shameless schemer.

She wondered, ‘Owen was officially divorced from Nerissa and with me now, what is Nerissa’s behavior if not pathetic? A mistress. How shameless.

‘Owen belongs to me and will always be mine. Nerissa could forget about stealing him away.’

A cold, ruthless gleam flashed through Audrey’s lowered eyes.

Owen enjoyed the feeling of having two women fighting over him. He smiled and pulled Audrey into a hug, then said, ” Nerissa’s just a clown to me.

“You’re my true love. Sorry you had to suffer today. Give me some time, and in a few days, I’ll make sure Nerissa apologizes to you personally.”

Audrey nestled in Owen’s arms, a gentle smile playing on her lips as she teasingly said, “Owen, as long as I’m with you, I don’t mind any hardship.”

At the same time, Nerissa and Clive moved to a different café.

Clive was a man who knew his boundaries; from start to finish, he didn’t ask a single question about Owen.

After finishing the business handover, Clive pulled out a document from his briefcase. “Ms. Jamison, this is the apartment you asked me to keep an eye on.

“It’s fully renovated and located right in your current neighborhood, Unit 2, Building 5. The landlord said you can move in anytime.”

Nerissa and Hunter’s current place was too cramped.

She couldn’t keep letting Hunter sleep in the living room, so she had asked Clive to watch for any available rentals in the same complex.

This would be a temporary arrangement until she had enough funds to buy a villa, then she’d move in with her grandfather.

Clive was a bit curious about this.

Nerissa had just resolved the financial crisis at Kinsbeat Game and casually pulled out 30 million like it was nothing. Clearly. she wasn’t short on money.

‘So why is someone like her, the heiress of a wealthy family, renting the cheapest resettlement housing in Aosthorne?’ he wondered. ‘Is she trying to experience life as a commoner?’

“Thanks.” Nerissa took the document. “Don’t rush the bidding proposal. I’ll send it to you by 5 p.m. tomorrow.”

“Understood, Ms. Jamison.” Clive nodded. “I’ll be waiting for your email.”

Only three days remained until the Stratford Group’s bid submission deadline. Clive hadn’t wanted to trouble Nerissa, but he’ d hit a problem he couldn’t solve alone.

After parting ways with Clive, Nerissa left the café and headed for the subway.

The June sun was blazing outside.

Though the subway station wasn’t far, walking there was still scorching.

Chapter 28 The Scumbag Couple

Nerissa put on a Hepburn-style sun hat, the wide brim shading her delicate features so that only her rosy lips were visible.

A gentle breeze teased her loose strands of hair, and the burgundy blouse she wore perfectly matched the red bow on her hat. Even just from behind, she looked breathtaking enough to stop hearts.

Several passersby pulled out their phones to capture the stunning sight.

One person couldn’t resist recording a video of Nerissa and posted it to Tik Tok, captioned [No. 129, Peacinle Road, Spotted the most beautiful back view of the summer.]

After posting, she turned off their phone.

Meanwhile, a flashy Maybach sped past along the roadside.

Inside, a man lounged lazily in the back seat, legs crossed, fingers with pronounced knuckles gripping a newspaper. Despite his relaxed posture, he exuded an aura of privilege and power.

Luke sat beside Lennox. “Lennox, you’re such a stereotypical straight man. Ms. Lascelles just told you to give her a ride home, but you didn’t even spare her a glance.”

Lennox flipped the newspaper resting on his crossed legs and replied coldly, his voice low and detached, “Don’t you know my rules?”

Lennox had an unspoken rule. He never shared a car with a woman who wasn’t related to him by blood.

Luke scratched his head, well aware of Lennox’s habits. “But Ms. Lascelles is a shy girl. Even if you don’t want to give her a ride, you should at least be tactful and not embarrass her.”

The lady Luke referred to was Anya Lascelles, the second daughter of Kindowen’s top family, the Lascelles-family, and a long-time secret admirer of Lennox.

She had followed him all the way from Kindowen to Aosthorne, a devotion even Luke admired. Yet Lennox, the epitome of a straight, no-nonsense guy, remained indifferent, unwilling to give her even a sliver of a chance.

Lennox wouldn’t even say more than a word to her.

“Whether she felt embarrassed or not,” Lennox’s expression remained impassive and distant, “is not my concern.”

No one was allowed to break his rules.

Besides, Anya was well aware of his personality. Since she chose to say something like that, she should have expected the consequences.

Just then, Lennox’s gaze was suddenly drawn to a breathtaking figure nearby. Although Nerissa wore a hat and he could only see her profile from where he sat, he recognized her immediately.

His beautiful eyes narrowed slightly, lips parting. “Stop the car.”

The tone was low, just a few words, but carried an unyielding authority. The driver immediately slammed on the brakes.

The car came to a halt.

Luke, unaware of Nerissa outside, looked at Lennox in confusion. “What’s wrong? Why’d you ask me to stop the car all of a sudden?”

Without explaining, Lennox turned to Luke. “Move to the front passenger seat.”
