Chapter 31 Delete And Block
Owen relaxed when he heard that.
Yale had a point. Kinsbeat Game was on its last legs, and they didn’t need to worry about it anymore. Plus, they had Nerissa planted there as their spy. He had nothing to be afraid of.
Owen looked up at Yale. “Ask her on WhatsApp. I blocked her ages ago.”
He’d deleted Nerissa’s contact the second the divorce went through. He didn’t want her clinging to him anymore, so cutting her off was the first thing he did.
“Got it.” Yale nodded and pulled out his phone.
Back when Nerissa worked at Calloway Group, she’d added everyone around Owen on WhatsApp.
Nobody really respected her as the CEO’s wife, but she’d still acted all friendly with Owen’s staff. She’d looked pathetic doing it, too-less like a CEO’s wife and more like some accessory hanging off Owen’s arm.
Yale opened WhatsApp and scrolled to Nerissa’s profile. He tapped on their chat.
They’d barely talked since adding each other.
Yale looked down on her anyway, some country bumpkin from nowhere, so he’d even hidden her Instagram stories.
Yale never thought he’d actually reach out to Nerissa on WhatsApp. Not in a million years.
If it wasn’t for the Kinsbeat Game acquisition, and if Nerissa hadn’t planted Owen as a spy at Kinsbeat, Yale wouldn’t contact someone like her even if you paid him. Hell, you could threaten his life, and he still wouldn’t do it.
He typed out his message and hit send: [Got a minute? Let’s voice chat about Kinsbeat Game.]
But the next second, Yale froze.
Only one checkmark showed up on his screen.
Owen noticed the weird look on his face. “What’d Nerissa say?”
Yale ran his hand through his hair. He blinked at his phone. “I think she blocked me?”
“What?” Owen’s expression darkened. ‘What the hell is Nerissa playing at? She actually blocked Yale?’ he thought.
“Maybe she did it by accident,” Yale said quickly. “I’ll just call her.”
‘Nerissa’s so obsessed with Owen,’ he thought. ‘There’s no way she’d block me on purpose. She must’ve hit the wrong button or something.’
Yale switched to his contacts and dialed Nerissa’s number. “Sorry, the number you have dialed is busy.”
That was definitely the blocked call message.
Yale’s eyes went wide.
Fine, maybe WhatsApp was an accident.
But there was no way she had accidentally added his phone number to her block list, too.
Yale hung up the phone and looked up at Owen. His expression was complicated, and he couldn’t quite believe what had just happened. “Owen, Nerissa actually deleted me. And she blocked my number too.”
Owen yanked at his tie, irritation flashing across his face. “What’s Nerissa trying to pull? Does she think she can force me to remarry her with these childish games?”
‘She joined Kinsbeat Game because of me, he thought. ‘Now she’s pretending I don’t exist?’
He knew exactly what this was. She was trying to corner him and make him come crawling back. ‘Pathetic. Like that would
ever work on me’
Yale chimed in. “Want me to call her from a different number?”
“No,” Owen said flatly. “If you chase after her now, you’re just giving her what she wants. When she realizes nobody cares about her little tantrum, she’ll come begging on her own.”
Owen needed to make one thing crystal clear to Nerissa-his wife’s position belonged to Audrey, and it always would. He wasn’t going to coddle Nerissa, and he definitely wasn’t remarrying her
Yale gave Owen a thumbs-up and grinned. “Bri Successfully unlocked! handle a shameless gold digger like her. How long do you think before she cracks? I’m betting nice days. Nu, want W days. Two days max, and she’ll be begging you
to take her back.”

“Two days?” Owen looked at Yale, and contempt flickered in his eyes. “You’re giving her way too much credit. She’ll come
crawling back tonight if I know her, and when she does, just have her send over the Kinsbeat Game information directly, I’m not meeting with her in person.”
Nerissa thought she could use Kinsbeat Game to strongarm him into remarrying her. Not a chance.
Yale nodded. “Got it, Owen.”

That evening, Yale sat at the dining table, eating dinner with his eyes glued to his phone.
His mother, Amanda Edrington, watched him with growing excitement. “Yale, are you dating someone?”
“No.”
Amanda rolled her eyes. “Then why are you staring at your phone like that?”
The way Yale kept checking his screen made it obvious he was waiting for some girl to text him back on WhatsApp
Amanda narrowed her eyes, and a knowing smile spread across her face. “Oh, I see what’s happening here. You like someone, don’t you? Are you trying to win her over right now? Want some advice from your mother?”
“Mom, no.” Yale shook his head. “I’m waiting for Nerissa to call.”
Amanda froze for a moment, then asked uncertainly, “Nerissa, as in that country girl Griffin picked out for Owen?”
“Yeah, that’s her,” Yale confirmed.
Amanda frowned. “Why are you waiting for her call? Didn’t Owen already divorce her?”
Amanda had never liked Nerissa.
If Griffin hadn’t been so superstitious before he died, a country girl like her never would’ve gotten to marry Owen.
And for Griffin to pick Nerissa in the first place, she must’ve pulled some tricks.
Amanda hated scheming women like that.
Yale wolfed down a few bites of food. “It’s work stuff, Mom. Don’t worry about it.” He pushed back from the table. “I’m done. Heading upstairs.”
Amanda watched him go and frowned. “What kind of work could he possibly have with Nerissa? She’s just a village girl. What would she know about anything?”
Upstairs, Yale kept his eyes glued to his phone screen, but nothing happened.
He checked the time. It was 7:30 PM. He’d give it a little longer. ‘She’ll definitely call by eight or nine,’ he thought.
He grabbed some clothes and headed for the shower. When he walked into the bathroom, he deliberately left his phone behind.
Yale deliberately left his phone behind when he headed to the bathroom.
He wanted to make Nerissa sweat a little.
Over half an hour later, he came out and immediately reached for his phone.
He already knew what he’d find-Nerissa must’ve blown up his phone with calls during that time.
She had to be freaking out by now, wondering why he wasn’t picking up
He smirked at the thought.
But the moment he grabbed his phone, Yale froze. The screen was completely quiet. There was not a single missed call.
Yale’s eyes widened.
Nerissa hadn’t even tried to contact him.
He quickly opened WhatsApp, but it was just as silent. No messages, no friend requests, nothing.
‘Just wait a bit longer, he thought, trying to reassure himself. ‘She’ll definitely reach out soon.’
Calloway Group was about to partner with Stratford Group, and he had his hands full with the new game launch and winning the Celestial Dome Awards.
A million other things were demanding his attention, and he couldn’t afford to spend all his time obsessing over Nerissa. Three more hours dragged by, and Yale finally wrapped up work and checked his phone. Still nothing from Nerissa. ‘This is weird, he thought.
From what he knew about Nerissa, she should’ve cracked by now. She usually couldn’t help herself.

‘Did she actually get over Owen?’ he wondered. ‘No way. Impossible. The woman loved Owen enough to try killing herself. There’s no chance she forgot about him this fast. She’ll probably message me any minute now!
Minutes ticked by, then hours, but Yale’s phone stayed silent. Nerissa never reached out.
By the next morning, his screen was still blank-no calls, no texts, nothing.
Yale had barely arrived at the office when his secretary appeared at his desk. “Mr. Vanderbilt wants to see you, she said, and he followed her to Owen’s office.
“What did Nerissa say to you yesterday?” Owen asked the moment Yale walked in.
Yale’s expression twisted with confusion. He didn’t know how to explain what had happened-or rather, what hadn’t happened.
Owen caught the look on his face, and disgust flickered in his eyes. “She wants to negotiate with me directly, doesn’t she?” ‘How pathetic,’ he thought. ‘I don’t want to see her face.’
“No, that’s not it,” Yale said quickly. “Nerissa didn’t contact me at all last night. I don’t understand what’s going on.” “She didn’t contact you?” Owen’s brow furrowed, and suspicion crept into his voice. “Is your phone broken?”
That didn’t make sense. Nerissa had slit her wrists when he left her. She loved him-she was obsessed with him. There was no way she’d go an entire night without trying to reach Yale.
Yale’s phone had to be broken.
“My phone’s fine,” Yale said, sounding like he was questioning reality itself. “I’m getting messages from everyone else. There’s no reason I wouldn’t get hers.”
Owen’s face darkened, and he opened his mouth to respond then someone knocked the door.
Owen didn’t need to think twice. It had to be Nerissa.
His eyes lit up instantly, and he turned toward the door. He stood and crossed the room, barely containing his excitement. “It’s Nerissa,” he said. “She’s here with the Kinsbeat Game acquisition documents. She’s coming to beg me to take her back.” Yale quickly grabbed Owen’s hand before he could open the door. “Owen, don’t go easy on Nerissa just because she brought those acquisition files. You need to make sure she understands what she did wrong.”
