Dumped Then Claimed By A Billionaire (Nerissa and Owen) novel Chapter 43

Chapter 43 Nerissa Takes First Place

“Grandpa, your granddaughter makes money now, so you just enjoy yourself. By the way, did you tell your boss about quitting?”

Nerissa had brought up quitting several days ago.

But Hunter still hadn’t talked to his boss about it. He was getting older, and finding stable work wasn’t easy

Seeing that Nerissa was bringing it up again, Hunter smiled. “Nerissa, didn’t you say you were going to buy me a big house? Once you buy that house, I’ll quit right away.”

Nerissa couldn’t argue with Hunter, so she agreed. Anyway, the day she’d buy that house wasn’t that far off.

The next day at noon, Hunter was walking home from work with her coworkers when she spotted Kane leading two unfamiliar men into the residential complex.

Hunter asked curiously, “Where’s Mr. Trelawney taking those guys?”

One of her coworkers answered, “I heard Yiorlian School’s transfer exam turned up some genius kid with crazy high scores, and the principal’s scared they’ll lose her.

“So he brought the academic director here to track her down, but they don’t know which building she lives in. That’s why they got Mr. Trelawney to show them the way.”

The coworker paused and then added, “Oh, and Hunter, apparently this genius kid has the same last name as you. Some girl named Nerissa.”

The other coworkers immediately chimed in with envy. “Yiorlian School’s the best high school in the city! Whoever’s kid this is must be so proud. Talk about hitting the jackpot.”

Hunter’s eyes narrowed. ‘Yiorlian School,’ she thought. ‘Transfer student. Genius kid. And her name’s Nerissa?”

Hunter couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She turned to her coworker and pressed, “Wilson, what did you say that kid’s name was?”

“Nerissa,” Wilson Gray said.

“You’re sure it’s Nerissa?” Hunter asked again.

“Yeah.” Wilson nodded. “I heard it with my own cars. Why would I get it wrong?”

After getting the confirmation from Wilson, Hunter got so excited he could barely contain himself. He jogged over and called out, “Mr. Trelawney, wait up!”

Kane turned around. “What’s up, Hunter?”

Hunter’s face lit up with excitement. “I heard you’re looking for Nerissa?”

“Yeah, that’s right.” Kane nodded. “Wait, do you know Nerissa?”

Hunter grinned. “I’m Nerissa’s grandfather.”

“You’re Nerissa’s grandfather? You mean that talented student is your granddaughter?” Kane asked.

“Yes, exactly Hunter was practically bursting with pride now.

Nerissa was so accomplished, and he felt honored to be her grandfather.

But Kane had never taken Nerissa seriously

When he heard this, he let out a scoff and didn’t bother hiding the mockery in his eyes

He said, “Hunter, don’t embarrass yourself. There are tons of people with the same name out there. Your granddaughter

took a whole year off from school, and she’d be lucky to even get into a regular high school”

The talented Nerissa they were looking for had scored an incredible 1420 on her SAIS

Hunter’s granddaughter was just some girl from a small village.

Forget 1420, she probably couldn’t even hit Yiorlian School’s minimum requirement of 1200

So Kane was absolutely sure they just happened to share the same name.

Hunter frowned at Kane’s words. “Mr. Trelawney, how can you be so sure it’s just the same name? What if it really is my granddaughter?”

“There’s no ‘what if” Mr. Trelawney snorted coldly “If it’s not just someone with the same name, I’ll do a handstand and eat

Crow.”

Chapter 44 Lose It

Kane’s words were firm and final.

After all, Hunter had asked him just recently to use his family connections to help Nerissa get into Yiorlian School.

If Nerissa actually had the skills, Hunter wouldn’t need to beg for favors.

Besides, the two administrators from Yiorlian School were looking for a Nerissa who lived in Building 5.

If Kane remembered correctly, Hunter lived in Building 2.

‘Hunter’s got some nerve, Kane thought. ‘Does he really think his granddaughter is that special?’

Hunter had been excited when he first heard Nerissa’s name mentioned by his coworkers, but Kane’s words were like a bucket of ice water dumped over his head.

He stared at Kane. “Mr. Trelawney, I know there could be someone with the same name, but my granddaughter’s grades are excellent. Why wouldn’t she get into Yiorlian School?”

His voice sharpened. “And if she does get in, you’ll eat crow.”

Kane nodded. “Sure. But that’s only if she actually gets in.”

“Fine, Mr. Trelawney. I’m remembering what you just said.”

Kane didn’t waste any more time on Hunter and caught up with the two administrators. “Follow me this way.”

After Kane and the school officials left, Hunter’s coworkers gathered around to comfort him. “Hunter, don’t take it personally. That’s just how Mr. Trelawney is. The guy’s got a nasty mouth.”

Hunter just laughed it off. “It’s fine. Results speak for themselves, and I believe Nerissa will definitely get into Yiorlian School.”

His coworker glanced at him with a complicated expression on his face. They all thought Hunter was being way too optimistic about this whole thing.

Kane’s words had been harsh, but he wasn’t wrong.

Nerissa had taken a whole year off from school, so getting into Yiorlian School seemed almost impossible now.

Meanwhile, Kane had already brought the two school administrators to the entrance of Jamison Manor, and he said eagerly, “Mr. Adrian Lynch, Mr. Kevin Anderson, let me knock on the door.”

He reached out and knocked.

The door opened quickly.

Nerissa looked at the three strangers standing there and asked, “Can I help you? Who are you looking for?”

Adrian stepped forward with a smile. “We’re looking for Nerissa. Does she live here?”

“I’m Nerissa,” she said. “Did you need something?”

All three men looked surprised. None of them had expected the top student to be this beautiful.

Adrian quickly pulled some documents out of his bag to check, and the file had a small passport photo of the test-taker attached.

They’d been in such a rush to get here that they hadn’t even looked at the materials yet.

After reviewing the documents, Adrian could finally confirm that the girl standing before them was the Nerissa they were looking for.

Adrian and Kevin were completely shocked.

In their minds, top students were always perceived as wearing thick glasses and never caring about their appearance. They figured that if someone looked too good, whether a guy or a girl, they wouldn’t focus on studying.

But Nerissa totally changed what they thought a good student should be like.

She was nothing like the nerds they’d imagined.

Adrian stepped forward and said, “Hi Nerissa, I’m Adrian Lynch the princinal of Yiorlian School. Congratulations. You

passed our transfer exam and got first place. Successfully unlocked! our director. Kevin and I came here to take

you to the school so you can finish your enroll.

Nerissa’s face stayed calm when she heard she’d ranked first. She’d expected it.
