Chapter 79
Chapter 79
Nerissa hadn’t felt the challenge of meeting her match in ages.
Today was the first time in a long while.
She put on a faint, captivating smile.

Faye looked up and saw Nerissa grinning at her phone. She couldn’t help but tease, “Nerissa, are you seeing someone?”
“Nope,” Nerissa said, putting her phone down. “What makes you think that?”
“You were smiling at your phone like you just got a love confession,” Faye replied.
It seemed people only smiled at their phones when they were in love.
“Oh, that?” Nerissa laughed. “I just met someone in the game who I really vibe with.”
Faye perked up, instantly interested. “Boy or girl?”
‘Online romance!’ Faye thought.
‘This could get spicy,’ she mused.
“No idea,” Nerissa said, shaking her head. “They’ve got their gender set to private in the game.”
“They even hid their gender?” Faye’s excitement deflated. “If it’s a man, he’s probably ugly.”
‘If he was super hot, why would he hide his gender?’ Faye thought to herself.
Suddenly remembering this, Faye glanced at Nerissa. “Nerissa, just be careful. There are a lot of scammers online these days.”
“I know,” Nerissa said with a slight nod.
Faye slid the menu over to Nerissa. “I’ve already picked out the dishes. Take a look and see if you’re cool with
it.”
Nerissa took the menu. “Looks good to me.”
After that, Nerissa poured some water for herself and Faye.
But Faye just propped her chin up, gazing at Nerissa with sparkling eyes. ‘Seriously, a beauty is indeed a beauty. Even just pouring water looks gorgeous when she does it,’ Faye thought.
Nerissa handed a glass to Faye and couldn’t help but ask, “Fifi, what’s with that look you’re giving me?”
“Because you’re gorgeous!” Faye replied. “Nerissa, if I were a guy, I’d totally go after you!”

Nerissa laughed. “Trust me, I know a girl who’s even more of a knockout!”
“Really?” Faye asked, her eyes lighting up.
“Yeah,” Nerissa said, pulling out her phone. “I’ve got a photo of her. Want to see?”
“Yes, yes, yes!” Faye nodded eagerly.
Checking out gorgeous girls was her absolute favorite thing to do.
Nerissa reached into her bag, pulled out a photo, and handed it to Faye. “Here you go.”

Faye took the photo. When she saw who was in it, she froze for a second, and then laughed. “Nerissa, you really know how to make me laugh!”
Turned out,
what Nerissa handed her wasn’t a photo at all, but a compact mirror she always kept on her. And the only face in the mirror was Faye’s own.
Nerissa looked at Faye, dead serious. “See? You’re gorgeous just as you are.”
Faye’s smile grew even brighter.
Faye was honestly crazy about Nerissa. She was like a ray of sunshine, always lifting everyone up with her positive energy, never letting any bad vibes bring people down.
By the time they finished eating, it was already past eight.
Nerissa and Faye headed home separately.
At home,
Hunter and Kennedy had already eaten.
Kennedy had packed up several suitcases. When he saw Nerissa come in, he smiled at her and said, “Nerissa, I’m heading back home tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?” Nerissa was caught off guard. “So soon?”
“Yes,” Kennedy nodded. “Everything’s sorted back home. The sooner I get back, the sooner I can have some peace of mind.”
When people got older, they all started longing to return to their roots.
Nerissa said, “Grandpa and I are moving the day after tomorrow. Grandpa Kennedy, why not wait until we’ve finished moving before you head back?”
“Moving?” Hunter and Kennedy echoed, both looking surprised.
They stared at Nerissa in disbelief.

Hunter quickly asked, “Nerissa, didn’t we just move recently? Why are we moving again? Where are we moving to now?”
It’d been less than two months since they moved into Building Five.
Nerissa turned to Hunter with a bright smile. “Grandpa, didn’t I promise I’d get you a big villa? This place was just temporary. I’ve already bought a villa. It’s all decked out and ready for us. I checked. The day after tomorrow is a great day to move, so that’s when we’ll go.”
‘She actually bought a villa?’ Hunter’s eyes widened in shock.
He stared at Nerissa, thinking he must be hearing things.
Kennedy, standing nearby, swallowed hard, totally stunned. “Wait, Nerissa, did you really buy a villa?”
First, she’d bought out the property management just to help Hunter get even.
Now she’d bought a villa!
Kennedy couldn’t help but feel impressed by Nerissa.
‘What kind of 19-year-old girl can pull off all this?’ Kennedy thought, completely stunned.
“That’s right,” Nerissa nodded. “I bought it just today.”
Hunter blurted out, “Nerissa, you’re not joking with us, are you?”
“I’m not joking, seriously,” Nerissa said, glancing at her phone. “Grandpa, Grandpa Kennedy, it’s only a little past eight. How about we go check out the new house together?”
“Sounds great!” Kennedy grinned. “I’ve never seen a real villa before. Looks like I’ll get to see the one Nerissa bought this time!”
“Let’s head out then,” Nerissa said.
Hunter quickly added, “Hold on, I’ll go change my clothes.”
‘Gotta wear the new clothes my granddaughter got me to check out the villa. he thought.
“Alright, I’ll wait for you,” Nerissa replied.
Hunter changed super quick. In just a few minutes, he was good to go.
Half an hour later.
The taxi pulled up to the villa.
Only when Hunter stepped into the fancy, decked-out villa did it finally hit him, this was real.
Hunter was still dazed. “This can’t be a dream,’ he told himself.

‘My granddaughter actually pulled it off. She really got me living in a villa,’ he couldn’t wrap his head around
Never in a million years had Hunter ever expected to call a villa home.
Words just couldn’t do justice to what he was feeling right now.
Kennedy was even more floored, wandering around the villa with his jaw practically on the floor. “Nerissa, this place is so fancy. Must’ve cost a fortune, right?”
Nerissa just smiled. “Grandpa Kennedy, this house belonged to a friend. Her dad’s a developer, so she gave me a big discount, only 5.5 million. Really not expensive.”
5.5 million?
Not expensive?
‘Not expensive? Seriously?’ Kennedy thought, completely stunned.
Most people probably wouldn’t make that much in their entire lives.
Hearing this, Hunter immediately asked, “Nerissa, is it that girl Fifi?”
“Yeah,” Nerissa nodded.
Kennedy stood next to Hunter, unable to hide his envy. “Hunter, you really lucked out with Nerissa as your granddaughter! You’re set for a wonderful retirement.”
Even though Nerissa and Hunter weren’t related by blood, she treated him better than most real granddaughters ever would.
Hunter’s face was glowing with happiness. “Nerissa’s been caring and devoted since she was just a kid.”
It was their first time ever in a villa, and they were poking around, touching this and checking out that, totally fascinated by everything.
When Hunter heard Nerissa mention that all the appliances were smart, he looked at her, curious. “Nerissa, what does it mean, smart?”
Nerissa explained, “Like, if you want the lights off, just say, ‘George, turn off the lights,’ and it’ll do it for you.”
Hunter immediately called out, “George, turn off the lights!”
Click!
The lights went out.
Hunter asked, “So how do I turn the lights back on?”

Kennedy grinned, “Oh, that’s easy, just say, ‘George, turn on the lights.”
Right as Kennedy finished it, the lights came back on.

It was their first time experiencing AI, and both of them were grinning from ear to ear, like kids discovering a new toy. Hunter was especially excited. He kept telling the smart curtains to open and close, just for fun.
Hunter couldn’t help but sigh, “Technology these days is just wild. Sixty years ago, out in the countryside, we barely had enough to eat. Who could’ve imagined we’d end up living like this one day?”
“Seriously, who could’ve imagined things would develop this fast?” Kennedy nodded in agreement.
Suddenly, Hunter remembered that day when he and Nerissa left the Holloway family’s place.
At that moment,
Nerissa had pointed at those villas and promised him that one day she’d get him a big villa to live in, and look after him when he got old.
Back then, Hunter had just thought she was comforting him.
But he couldn’t have been more wrong.
He’d expected his granddaughter would come through on her promise this quickly.
After checking out the villa for more than an hour, Hunter and Kennedy suggested they should get going.
Nerissa whipped out her phone and ordered a ride.
By the time they got home, it was already past ten at night. As soon as Nerissa opened her bedroom door, Snowball leaped onto her, meowing up a storm.
‘Meow!’ Snowball whined pitifully.
‘Finally, my beloved Nerissa is home!’ Snowball thought, tail flicking with excitement.
‘Felt like I’d been waiting for a hundred years!’ Snowball meowed, acting all dramatic.
“Snowball, back again, huh? Are you hungry? Let me get you some food,” Nerissa said.
Holding Snowball in one arm, Nerissa reached into the cabinet, grabbed a can of cat food, and popped it open with practiced ease.
“Snowball, we’re moving the day after tomorrow. How about coming to explore our new home with me?” Nerissa asked.
“Meow!” Snowball replied, rubbing against Nerissa like the little attention-seeker he was.
Snowball was absolutely devoted to Nerissa. As he ate the food, he kept meowing back, clinging to Nerissa with every bite.

Nerissa sat down at her computer, logged into Splendor Peak, and entered Adventure Manor to start working on the endgame challenge Mr. S had left behind.
She wasn’t in any rush.
She kept replaying the match in her mind. Suddenly, what seemed like a dead end opened up, a breakthrough, clear as day.
With a click of the mouse, Nerissa made her move.
[Congratulations! You’ve cracked the final puzzle: Willow Fluff.]
Nerissa smiled.
Lennox boarded the plane headed abroad.
The flight was going to take a full 20 hours.
There was Wi-Fi onboard, so he logged in and jumped straight into Splendor Peak.
Just as Lennox entered Adventure Manor,
a system notification popped up.
[Welcome back, Mr. S! Your latest Go challenge, Willow Fluff, has just been cracked by player Phyllis. FYI!]
Lennox stared at the notification, momentarily speechless.
‘No way, someone cracked it that fast?’ he thought, completely floored.
Even the national Go champion had once spent seven days on Willow Fluff and still couldn’t solve it.
Lennox couldn’t help but think, ‘Damn, this Phyllis is something else.’
He checked out Phyllis’s profile right away and realized they’d only logged in an hour ago, with just two hours of playtime.
So Phyllis managed to crack Willow Fluff in under two hours. Unbelievable!
‘Scary as hell!’ Lennox thought, his eyes narrowing in disbelief.
‘Who the hell is this Phyllis?’ Lennox wondered, mind racing.
Not only was he insanely gifted at the game, but he found the Adventure Manor entrance right off the bat, and cracked Willow Fluff in less than two hours. That was just unreal.
Other than Nerissa,
no one had ever piqued Lennox’s curiosity like this.

Over at the Merritt family’s house.
Luke had been poking around Misty Forest forever, but still couldn’t find the entrance to Adventure Manor. Finally, he gave up and texted Lennox on WhatsApp. [Uncle Lennox, send me the code for Adventure Manor! I wanna play too.]
‘People really are built different,’ Luke sighed.
He’d wasted a whole day searching and still came up with nothing, while Lennox just strolled through Misty Forest once and found the entrance easily.
When Lennox saw Luke’s message, he shot back with a deadpan reply. [Use your own skills and figure it out.]
