As night fell, Owen still hadn’t come back, and Evelyn was getting seriously anxious. She couldn’t help but turn to Kaia and ask, “Kaia, do you think that country girl Nerissa might not want to come back with Owen?”

She was so worked up that she didn’t even notice the gloomy log on Owen’s face. She shot a cold glare at the back seat and snapped, “That country girl still has the nerve to sit there? Get and apologize to me, now!”

Then Evelyn turned to Owen, raising her voice on purpose. “Own, let me tell you, not just anyone gets to walk into the Calloway family’s house. Don’t you dare get in my way this time I’m going to teach that country girl a lesson, or she’ll never know her place!”

Kaia squinted and shot back, “Well, who’s Nerissa’s new man?”

Evelyn let out a cold snort. “A divorced woman like her, what kind of decent man could she possibly get? Bet he’s no match for Owen!”

“It’s Lennox Stratford,” Owen finally admitted, his voice low and eluctant. He hated saying it out loud, but there was no escaping the truth.

“Wait, who?” Kaia blurted out, staring at Owen. “Are you saying rissa’s boyfriend is Lennox Stratford?”

Kaia’s eyes widened in shock.

Evelyn froze, completely taken aback.

Owen repeated, his voice heavy with resignation, “Nerissa’s new Boyfriend is Lennox Stratford.”

Lennox took the papers, flipped through them casually, and asked, his voice calm and commanding, “What’s on the schedule for this afternoon?”

Melinda immediately pulled up the schedule and started listing off his appointments.

“At one o’clock this afternoon, the Chairman and delegates from KD Group will be coming by for a visit.”

“At two, you’re scheduled to check out some major projects on the island nearby.”

“At five, you have a business roundtable to attend.”

“And at eight, there’s a charity gala.”

“Got it,” Lennox replied, his tone calm and unruffled.

Lennox pressed his fingers lightly to the bridge of his nose, his eyes cold and razor-sharp, so intimidating that nobody dared look him in the eye for more than a second.

It was only II AM.

He still had two hours before the meeting at one.

After spending the whole night on a red-eye flight, Lennox had rely set foot in the building before heading straight into a meeting. He hadn’t even had a chance to shake off the jet lag. With a nonstop schedule lined up for the afternoon, he told Melinda, “Unless it’s urgent, don’t bother me.”

But he’d barely had a chance to rest when Ethan showed up.

Lennox looked genuinely surprised. “Ethan, when did you get here?”

“I just flew in for a last-minute meeting, literally just landed.” Ethan said, then added, “Lennox, can you do me a favor?”

“What favor?” Lennox replied.

“I’ve already bought her a new one, but I’m still worried she’s mail,” Ethan said, looking a bit awkward. “Lennox, could you call her for me? Once you get her on the line, I’ll apologize to he myself. Otherwise, I just can’t shake this uneasy feeling.”

Lennox just shook his head, speechless. “Ethan, you always let Riley walk all over you. Seriously, can’t you man up a little for

once?”

Riley ran the Merritt household with an iron fist and her word was law.

Ethan couldn’t make a single decision, not even about the tiniest things.

But Ethan just shrugged it off and grinned, “Who needs to act all macho when you’re married? Besides, Mom says most of the Stratford men are totally whipped. You can laugh at me now but just wait, your wife might have you apologize on your knees! Riley can be a little fiery sometimes, but I’m okay with it.

For Ethan, as long as he didn’t end up apologizing on his knees, fe was pretty sweet.
