Chapter 8 Hannah’s Admiration

Nerissa said, “Madam, I have to correct you. History is full of women who made significant contributions to the world and to their countries.

“Your ignorance is why you know nothing about them. There are children here who are still forming their values, so please don’t feed them such ignorant and backward ideas.

‘Besides, you’re a woman yourself, yet you belittle and demean yourself like this. I truly pity your children.”

The older woman immediately put her hands on her hips, looking fierce. “Who do you think you are, little girl? How dare you interrupt when an adult is speaking? You have no manners.

“You call me ignorant, but if you’re so knowledgeable, then name just a few women throughout history who have contributed to society or the country. If you can’t, I’ll rip your mouth apart.”

Kennedy tugged lightly on Nerissa’s sleeve and whispered, “Nerissa, it’s better not to stir up trouble. Let’s just go.”

Kennedy thought to himself, ‘Nerissa didn’t even finish high school, so naturally she doesn’t have much cultural knowledge.

‘How would she know which women have made great contributions to the world or their countries?

‘Even I, an old man, don’t know most of them, let alone Nerissa. Speaking out without understanding will only make you a laughingstock.’

“Kennedy, don’t worry,” Nerissa smiled confidently.

She stood tall, her posture straight, radiating an extraordinary presence.

Though only about seventeen or eighteen years old, she gave off the impression of someone who had weathered many storms and sailed through countless challenges.

“Listen carefully,” she began slowly and firmly.

“The first pioneer of ancient medical anatomy was Ayla Kent. Her dissection techniques predate those of the West by a thousand years.”

“The first female scientist in the 17th century was Brielle Huxley. She’s internationally recognized as a foundational figure in scientific development.

“Not only did she write major works, but after studying multiple theories, she authored the Theory of Everything. She was the first person in the world to understand the cosmos by combining the macro and micro perspectives.”

“The first queen, Sage Locke, governed a kingdom and was hailed as a genius of the century, leading the country to prosper.” “The first female general, Esme Kipling, fought rebels with remarkable achievements and was titled the ‘General Queen.”

“The physicist who discovered radium was Madame Marie Curie.”

“The scientist who discovered the DNA double helix was Madam Franklin.”

“The inventor of technologies like WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS, often called the ‘Mother of WiFi,’ was Madam Hedy Lamarr.”

“The world’s first female programmer was Ada Lovelace.”

Nerissa’s voice was calm but resolute; her clear and orderly list of legendary women spanning ancient times to the present stunned everyone in the garden.

No one expected Nerissa to have such a wealth of knowledge.

At that moment, Nerissa radiated the aura of a well-read scholar.

Kennedy, sitting in the wheelchair, was stunned, his mouth wide open, eyes full of amazement.

He had thought Nerissa was just bluffing, but she was truly impressive.

The crowd spontaneously burst into applause.

“Well said.”

“What kind of era are we living in when people still say girls are inferior to boys? That’s just ridiculous. This young lady is right, and I feel ashamed for Madam’s children.”

“Women are just as capable as men.”

Even among knowledgeable girls her age, few would have Nerissa’s courage and confidence to speak so eloquently in frost of such a crowd.

The previously smug madam suddenly wished she could disappear into a hole.

She had thought she could easily put Nerissa in her place, but instead hit a wall.

Sweating nervously, the madam bent over and quickly left.

In the crowd, Hannah also watched Nerissa with wide eyes, clearly impressed.

Hannah had met many people in her life.

This was the first time she’d seen a girl as formidable as Nerissa.

Whether it was talent, looks, or presence, Nerissa was top-tier.

Most importantly, Nerissa wasn’t arrogant or boastful about her excellence.

Nerissa was humble yet resilient, able to bloom in harsh cold and rise above storms.

Hannah thought Nerissa would be perfect for her son.

‘If Lennox could marry such an outstanding woman, I’d be the happiest mother in the world, Hannah mused.

Afraid that such a good girl might be snatched away, Hannah lifted her foot to greet Nerissa but stopped herself quickly.

‘No, I can’t just walk up and scare her off. I need to find the right opportunity. I have more important things to do right now, she decided.

Hannah took out her phone and made a call. “Hello, Annie?”

“This is me. How can I help you?” came the respectful voice of her assistant.

Hannah continued, “Book me a swimming instructor. I want to start lessons as soon as I’m discharged.”

A swimming instructor?

“Mrs. Stratford, you want to learn swimming?” Annie said and couldn’t help but hear her ears.

‘Who’s ever heard of a woman in her seventies learning to swim?’ Annie thought

“Yes, that’s right. I’m going to learn how to swim,” Hannah said, her expression just as resolute.

She was a sensible mother who vowed to work hard on her fitness, take good care of herself, and never become a burden to her children.

Not only would Hannah take care of herself, but she’d also be able to look after her son’s future wife.

‘Yeah, I’m amazing. I’m literally the best in the universe,’ Hannah thought proudly. ‘Quincy is incredibly lucky to marry a woman like me, and Lennox is the luckiest son alive to have a mother like me.

After hanging up, Hannah immediately called Lennox.

Before he could say a word, she blurted out, “Lennox, having a good mother like me is your luck for three lifetimes. You must have done some serious good deeds in your past life.”

After that, Hannah hung up without giving Lennox a chance to respond.

Sitting in the car, Lennox thought, ‘What’s Mom up to now?’

Meanwhile, the driver braked respectfully. “Mr. Stratford, Mr. Merritt, we’ve arrived.”

Luke was the first to get out. “Lennox, I’m going in first.”

“Okay.” Lennox nodded slightly.

The car stopped in front of a stately villa.

This was the home of Kindowen’s top doctor, Levi Harrow.

Levi’s master was renowned for miraculous healing, able to regenerate flesh from dry bones. As a divine healer himself, Levi was naturally hard to book.

Luke had spent over a hundred thousand dollars to jump the queue and secure an appointment for 3 PM today.

As soon as Luke entered the villa, he saw walls covered with medals and honors.

Luke entered the consultation room and handed Levi a prescription. “Dr. Harrow, could you please check if this prescription is okay?”

Levi took the paper, studied it carefully, then asked, “May I ask who this prescription is for?”

Without meeting the patient first, he couldn’t determine whether the prescription was appropriate.

“The prescription is for me,” came a deep male voice from the air.

Levi raised his eyes slightly and saw a tall, imposing figure entering.

The man was tall and handsome, with an imposing presence that commanded respect without anger. Even Levi, a revered healer, couldn’t help but feel a chill in his bones upon seeing him.

‘What a powerful aura, Levi thought.

He instinctively stood up from his chair. “Please have a seat, sir.”

Lennox leaned forward slightly and sat down across from him.

Levi carefully considered his words. “May I have your name, sir?”

“Lennox Stratford,” Lennox replied.

“Hello, Mr. Stratford.” Levi stroked his beard, then took everything he needed from his medical kit and placed it on the table. I’ll examine you now.”

Lennox extended his left hand.

Levi reached out and began the examination.

About half a minute later, Levi released Lennox’s wrist and smiled, “Mr. Stratford, rest assured. From your pulse, I see nothing serious.

“It’s just that internal heat is a bit excessive, causing sweating and mild coughing. You only need to take some heat- clearing and detoxifying medicine to balance it out.”

Luke’s eyes lit up.

He wondered, ‘I told Lennox back in the elevator that Nerissa was probably a liar, but he refused to believe me. Still, Levi really knows his stuff.

‘Lennox went through all sorts of tests at the hospital, bloodwork, scans, before they figured out what was wrong. And Levi just did a simple check and nailed the diagnosis perfectly.’

Luke suppressed his surprise and asked, “Levi, are you sure Lennox only needs some heat-clearing medicine?”

“Yes.” Levi nodded firmly.

Luke added, “But the doctor who wrote this prescription said Lennox has a typical deficiency syndrome, warning that if he doesn’t take medicine in time, he could collapse within three days, with serious consequences.”

Levi frowned slightly. “What kind of quack is that? That’s complete nonsense. Symptoms of deficiency include chills and cold sensitivity, but Mr. Stratford’s symptoms are the exact opposite. I’ve been a doctor all my life; can’t they even recognize a simple diagnosis?”

Levi could not tolerate anyone questioning his medical skills.

He was the direct heir of a genius healer.

He looked at Lennox. “Mr. Stratford, please don’t believe that nonsense about collapsing in three days. If you do collapse in three days, I will take full responsibility.”

“Also, this prescription is very harmful. Taking it could make a healthy person sick. This quack is practically playing with people’s lives.”
