Chapter 9 Authority
Levi wasn’t exaggerating.
The medicines listed on that prescription were extremely dangerous; just a slight mistake could cost a life. Even with his years of medical experience, he wouldn’t dare prescribe such drugs lightly.
‘What kind of reckless quack dares to write this?’ Levi thought.
Luke asked anxiously, “Is it really that serious?”
“Yes.” Levi nodded. “Moreover, the secondary prescription contains two highly toxic ingredients. Even a small mistake could be fatal, so it must never be taken without proper guidance.”
Levi grabbed a pen and paper and quickly wrote a new prescription, handing it to Luke. “Follow this regimen, and Mr. Stratford’s internal heat issue will be resolved.”
“Thank you, Dr. Harrow.” Luke accepted the prescription with both hands.
Levi smiled, “Helping patients ease their suffering is my duty.”
He reminded them seriously, “Mr. Stratford, if you ever feel unwell in the future, make sure you go to a legitimate hospital, or come directly to me.
“Never fall for charlatans who only want to scam you. Losing money is one thing, but risking your life and health is a whole different matter.”
From Levi’s perspective, traditional medicine in Cilowesad had long declined. He was one of the few gifted practitioners left in the field, unmatched by anyone else in the world.
If Lennox truly had depletion, Levi would definitely know.
Luke looked alarmed but quickly said, “Understood, Dr. Harrow. We will be very careful from now on.”
After leaving the villa, Luke couldn’t hold back. “See, Lennox? I told you that woman was a fraud. Levi’s diagnosis matches the hospital’s exactly. Now you can rest easy.”
Compared to the woman in the elevator, Levi’s authority was obvious.
Lennox said nothing, lighting a cigarette. The smoke blurred his features.
This is getting more interesting, he thought.
He was curious to see what would happen in two days.

Meanwhile, after finishing his errands, Hunter arrived at the hospital.
When he showed up, Nerissa said goodbye to him and left the hospital.
She had more important things to do.
Once Nerissa left, Kennedy grabbed Hunter’s hand excitedly. “Hunter, Nerissa is definitely going to make something of herself.”
Hunter was momentarily stunned, unable to believe Kennedy was saying such things.
In the past, Kennedy had no good opinion of Nerissa and often complained that Hunter had raised an ungrateful child.
‘Why is he acting so strange today?’ Hunter wondered.
Seeing Hunter’s bewildered expression, Kennedy immediately recounted what had happened that morning.
Since Nerissa’s impressive speech in the hospital garden, several people had come asking about her.
One person even claimed to be a talent scout trying to recruit Nerissa to become a celebrity.
But Nerissa wasn’t interested.
After hearing the whole story, Hunter smiled, “Nerissa was always smart. I remember when she was just over nine months old, I took her out to play. Her shoe fell off, and she started crying loudly.
“I wondered why she was upset, then realized her shoe was missing. Once I put it back on her foot, she stopped crying. Too bad later on,”
Too bad, later, Nerissa met Owen.
Successfully unlocked!
She seemed to become a different person, neg.ng her she and outrasing over marrying Owen.
That was when Hunter and Nerissa stopped being as close as they once were.

At Encounter, three sharply dressed men sat by the window.
One of them placed a folder on the table and looked apologetic toward the person opposite.
Dean Hathersage said, “Mr. Beaumont, I truly apologize. Although the partnership was agreed upon earlier, your company’s proposal is frankly disappointing.
“Besides, success requires not only good timing but also sharp investment insight. Any clear-sighted person knows that at this moment, the Calloway Group is the right choice, not your company. Sorry.”
Under Owen’s leadership, Calloway Group had become a dominant force in Aosthorne. Owen himself was hailed by the media as a once-in-a-decade dark horse.
Meanwhile, Clive Beaumont’s Kinsbeat Game had been steadily declining.
They had initially partnered with Kinsbeat Game because they expected it to secure the Celestial Dome Awards this year. But judging by the current situation, not only was winning the award unlikely, it was even uncertain whether Kinsbeat Game would deliver their bid proposal to the Stratford Group on time.
Dean, being a savvy businessman, naturally knew it was time to switch to Calloway Group as a partner.
Clive was about to say something when Grant Locke, sitting beside Dean, cut in, “Mr. Beaumont, this isn’t me kicking you when you’re down, but business isn’t charity.
“We can’t just throw money around. I think it’s best we end our cooperation here.”
Clive stared at Grant in disbelief. “Mr. Locke, you’re choosing Calloway Group, too?”
“Yes.” Grant nodded without hesitation. “I have other matters to attend to. Excuse me.”
Dean also stood. “Mr. Beaumont, I have some business as well. Perhaps we’ll meet again.”
That phrase was a clever way to say goodbye.
Calloway Group had risen like bamboo shooting through the ground, far surpassing Kinsbeat Game.
In less than a month, Calloway Group would completely replace Kinsbeat Game, win the Celestial Dome Awards, and claim. the pinnacle of Aosthorne. Kinsbeat Game would be forced to declare bankruptcy.
At that point, Clive’s status would plummet. There would be no chance to see them again. Whether they met again would depend entirely on fate.
After Dean and Grant left, Clive anxiously stood up. “Mr. Hathersage, Mr. Locke, please wait. I think we can still talk this through. We’ve worked together for so long.
“Today’s signing was already scheduled. If you leave now, where am I supposed to find a new partner on such short notice?”
Dean stopped and looked back at Clive with a mocking glint in his eyes. “Mr. Beaumont, yes, the partnership was agreed upon before, but no formal contract has been signed.
“Without that, it holds no legal weight. You need to know your limits. Some things are better left unsaid. I hope you understand.”
Clive frowned slightly. “Mr. Hathersage, although we haven’t signed a contract, I believe our relationship isn’t just empty words. Considering how 1 once helped your company during a crisis, I ask you to give us one more chance.
“Everyone faces setbacks in life. If you help me get through this, and Kinsbeat Game successfully wins the Celestial Dome Awards and goes public one day, I, Clive, will never forget your kindness.”
Back then, Dean’s company faced a financial crisis. Partners pulled out, contracts were broken, and it was near collapse.
Clive’s timely support had saved Hathersage Group from the worst.
Without Clive’s help back then, Dean wouldn’t have achieved what he has today.
Clive thought Dean would show some respect, but instead, Dean sneered, “Winning the Celestial Dome Awards and going public? What a pipe dream, Mr. Beaumont. Don’t you see the reality?
“Aosthorne now belongs to Calloway Group. Kinsbeat Game is about to become a relic. The only ones winning the Celestial Dome Awards will be Calloway Group.
“Besides, we weren’t the ones begging you for help. You came to us. What, Mr. Hathersage, are you trying to hold that over us now?”
Clive widened his eyes in disbelief at Dean’s shamelessness.
He never imagined he would live the farmer-and-snake story himself.

Indeed, it was only in the depths of despair that one sees people’s true colors.
Grant glanced at his watch and reminded, “Let’s go, Mr. Hathersage. The signing with Calloway Group is about to start. Why waste time talking to him?”
Dean immediately followed Grant and left.
“Dean, Grant, you bastards, you’ll regret this,” Clive shouted angrily.
Grant glanced back. “Whether we regret it is unknown, but I do know you’re about to become a dog with no home.”
Both Grant and Dean laughed as they walked away.
Clive clenched his fist and slammed it hard on the table.
It was outright bullying.
The force made the coffee cups on the table tremble, spilling brown liquid.
“Getting angry only hurts your liver, Mr. Beaumont. Why stoop to the level of those ungrateful scoundrels?” Nerissa said.
Startled, Clive looked up and saw a girl sitting across from him. He hadn’t noticed her before.
Nerissa wore a white T-shirt with her hair in a bun, youthful and radiant, about seventeen or eighteen years old.
“Miss, do we know each other?” Clive asked.
Nerissa smiled faintly and didn’t explain. She got straight to the point. “I can help Kinsbeat Game overthrow Calloway Group, survive this crisis, rise to the top, and win the Celestial Dome Awards.
