Chapter 97
Chapter 97
The legendary city of Minttown.
A city steeped in legend.
Where luxury and temptation run wild, but every corner hides a new chance and a fresh challenge.
Back in the last century, it was a time when legends were born.
Countless celebrities and tycoons emerged out of nowhere, shaking up the world with their sudden rise.
The author Faye admired most was a true legend from Minttow
She’d always dreamed of visiting Minttown.
But she had just never found the right chance.
Truth was, she just hadn’t met the right person to travel with.

“Minttown?” Nerissa had always had a soft spot for the city. She nodded eagerly. “Sure! But we need to get our travel permits sorted out first. Have you got yours yet?”
“Not yet. Nerissa, if you’re going, let’s do it together. My dad knows someone, so we can get it done fast.”
“Sounds good. I really like Minttown too,” Nerissa replied.
Faye was practically bouncing with excitement. “Nerissa, grab your ID. Let’s go get it sorted right now!”
“Okay.”
Nerissa gave a small nod. “I’ll go upstairs and grab my document,” she said, heading for the stairs.
It was deep winter in Aosthorne.
Outside, the temperature had already dropped a couple degrees below zero.
The chill was biting.
Nerissa picked out a long white down jacket and slipped it on.
Usually, those big puffy coats just made people look clumsy, but on her, there was this kind of magic. She somehow made it look stylish.
Faye hooked her arm through Nerissa’s. “Come on, Nerissa, let’so!”
But Nerissa stopped in her tracks. “Wait a sec.”
“What’s
up, Nerissa?” Faye asked.
“I need to grab my gloves,” Nerissa said. She could handle the het just fine, but the cold? That was a whole different story.
Even though the sun was shining bright outside, Nerissa still need her gloves.
She grabbed a pair of fluffy bunny gloves and slipped them on.
Faye grinned. “These gloves are so cute, Nerissal Send me the link. I want a pair too!”

Hearing that, Nerissa seemed to remember something. She shoved her gloves into Faye’s hands. “Fifi, I need to run upstairs and grab something. Wait here for me, okay?”
“Okay,” Faye nodded.
About three minutes later, Nerissa came back downstairs, holding a brand new pair of bunny gloves just like hers.
She smiled. “When I bought mine, I made sure to get an extra pair for you too, but I’ve just been so busy that I totally forgot. Here you go, Fifi, these are for you.”
Faye gasped in surprise. “Really, Nerissa? These are for me?”
“Of course,” Nerissa said with a small nod.
“Thank you, Nerissa! You’re the best!” Faye gave her a big hug, and then slipped on the bunny gloves with a huge grin. “They’re not just cute. They’re super warm too. Nerissa, now we’re got matching gloves!”
The two girls walked out the door together, laughing and chatting as they went.
It was freezing out. After last night’s rain, the roads were slick with ice. Getting a cab today was a real pain.
Faye frowned, a little annoyed. “If I’d known, I would’ve told my driver not to leave! Just wait here for a minute, okay?”
Nerissa was totally unfazed. “Don’t worry, someone might grab cur request any minute.”
Whoosh! Almost before Nerissa finished it, a flashy car glided to stop right next to them.
The window slid down, and a sharply handsome face appeared. His lips curled into a faint smile, and his voice was smooth and magnetic, impossible to ignore.
“Nerissa,” Lennox said, his gaze locking onto her.
Nerissa looked up, a little surprised. “Lennox, what are you doing here?”
“I’m heading to a meeting and just happened to pass by,” Lennox said as he got out of the car. “Where are you two headed Let me give you a lift.”
“No need, really. We’ll just grab a cab. You go take care of your business,” Nerissa said.
“Seriously, don’t be a stranger,” Lennox said, opening the back door. “I’ve got plenty of time. Hop in, it’s freezing and cabs are a pain today.
Faye slid right into the car, waving Nerissa over. “Exactly, Neriss no need to be shy with Mr. Stratford! Come on, get in!”
As their unofficial love bodyguard, Faye made it her mission to make sure they got plenty of alone time together.
Besides,
Faye could totally see that Lennox was going out of his way for rissa
And Nerissa definitely didn’t mind all the extra attention from unox.
Nerissa slid into the back seat.
Lennox got into the driver’s seat, buckled up, and glanced back
Faye was messing with her phone.
them “So, where are you two headed?”
With the heat blasting inside, Nerissa took off her gloves. “We’re heading to the immigration office to get our Minttown

travel permits.
“I see, Lennox said with a nod. “Planning a trip to Minttown?”
“Yeah. Nerissa replied.
Lennox caught a glimpse of Nerissa’s face in the rearview mirror
She was so elegant, almost like a character straight out of a painting.
Even that fleeting look was enough to send Lennox’s heartbeat into chaos.
If I’m not mistaken, it’s been fifteen days since we last met, Lennox thought to himself.
Fifteen days had passed since their last encounter.
Lennox asked, “You’re travelling with Fifi!”
“Yeah, I am.” Nerissa said, nodding.

Lennox felt himself relax for no reason. He smiled. ‘Minttown’s awesome. You two should really make the most of it and stay as long as you want. But seriously, you girls need to watch out. Don’t go chatting with random people.”
Even with all the laws these days, there were still creeps out there
“Okay,”
Lennox continued, “By the way, I know a few people over there. If you two run into any trouble or need help with anything, just reach out to me anytime.”
“Alright,” Nerissa nodded, giving him a grateful smile.
The immigration office wasn’t far.
They arrived in no time.
Nerissa opened the car door. “Lennox, thanks for the lift.
“You’re welcome.” Lennox said with a smile. “Go on, get inside. I can’t park here, so I’ll get going.”
“Drive safe,” Nerissa said.
“I will,” Lennox replied.
As the car rolled out of sight, Faye looped her arm through Nerissa’s and marveled, “Mr. Stratford isn’t just handsome. He comes from an amazing family, and he’s super capable. Honestly he’s a genuinely good man. Whoever ends up as his girlfriend would seriously be living the dream!”
She shot Nerissa a look after saying that.
When Nerissa didn’t say anything, Faye pressed, “Nerissa, what do you think? Am I right or what?”
Nerissa smiled. “Honestly, when it comes to looks, family, ability and personality, Lennox is the whole package. He’d be an amazing boyfriend.”
His chess manners said a lot about his character.
Nerissa had played against Lennox plenty of times. Win or lose, he had never tried to take back a move or acted all arrogant.

Just from that, she could tell he truly deserved to be called a gentleman.
“So, do you like him?” Faye pressed, not missing a beat.
‘I wouldn’t call it “like,” but I don’t dislike him,’ Nerissa said, her voice calm and steady.
Faye’s mind was already racing. “Well, if Lennox ever made a move on you, would you go for it?”

Nerissa chuckled. “Fifi, don’t start with that. I heard from his nephew that Lennox is a total anti-marriage man! We’re just friends, nothing romantic at all.”
Romance just wasn’t on the table for Nerissa when it came to Lennox.
“Anti-marriage?” Faye was stunned.
“Yeah,” Nerissa nodded.
Faye pressed her fingers to her temples, still trying to wrap her head around it.
But honestly, the way Lennox looked at Nerissa? That was not the look of a man who was sworn off marriage.

Meanwhile,
after dropping Nerissa and Faye off at the immigration office, Lennox drove straight over to the culinary training center.
Ever since he’d shot his mouth off to Nerissa about knowing how to cook, he’d been sneaking out for these classes every week, carving out a solid hour and a half each time.
He was determined not to get caught by anyone he knew, so he made sure to pick a spot far from his usual stomping grounds.
He’d chosen a training center a full 30 miles away from Stratfordland.
He’d been coming out here for more than two months now, sneaking in his cooking lessons every week.
Just two more months and he’d finally be able to wrap up his training and graduate.
Lennox had just parked his car when there suddenly came a shocked voice from nearby.
“Uncle Lennox?!”
