Luke had signed up here too, hoping to sharpen his cooking skills.
It was a bit far from downtown.
But the instructors were all top-tier chefs with serious clout.
Besides,
they taught just about every cuisine one could think of.
Luke had never thought he’d actually see Lennox here.
‘What’s Uncle Lennox doing at a cooking school, of all places?’ Like thought.
‘Is he here to learn how to cook?’
‘No way!’
‘Not a chance.’
Lennox was notorious for hating the kitchen.
He had always claimed that a real man belonged anywhere but the kitchen, and that cooking was beneath him.
‘Am I hallucinating or what?’ Luke thought to himself.

Luke rubbed his eyes, making sure he wasn’t just seeing things. Once he was sure, he dashed over. “Uncle Lennox! It really is you!”
When Lennox heard Luke’s voice, he froze on the spot.
He was completely stunned.
A cold sweat broke out across his back.
He’d picked this training center way out of town just so he wouldn’t bump into anyone he knew.
Who would’ve thought…
And now he’d run into the last person he wanted to see.
‘Man, I must be cursed today, Lennox thought.
“What are you doing here?” Lennox shot Luke a sideways glance his voice as cold as ever.
“I…” Luke started, and then it hit him. He stared at Lennox and blurted out, “Uncle Lennox, what are you doing here? This is
a cooking class! Don’t tell me you’re actually here to learn how to cook!”
“Of course not!” Lennox shot back without hesitation.
“Then what are you doing here?” Luke narrowed his eyes.
Luke’s instincts screamed that this was way more complicated than it looked.
Way more complicated!

Just as Lennox was trying to come up with a plausible excuse, Luke suddenly shouted, “Wait! I know why you’re here, Uncle Lennox!”
“Don’t go making wild guesses,” Lennox said with a deep frown.t’s not what
you think…”
Before Lennox could finish his sentence, Luke grabbed his arm, his face full of gratitude. “Lennox, you must’ve heard someone borrowed my car, so you came all the way out here jus to pick me up! Thank you, Uncle Lennox! You’re the best uncle in the world!”
Finally, Lennox could breathe easy.
“Yep, that’s exactly why I’m here, to give you a ride home,” he said, rolling with it.
“Oh my god, Uncle Lennox, you’re seriously the best uncle ever! I’m so moved!” Luke gushed.
Luke immediately pulled open the passenger door. “Let’s go, Undle Lennox!”
“Go?” Lennox repeated, sounding a little lost.
‘Go where, exactly?’ Lennox thought, still confused.
His mind was still stuck on the fact that he had another class staring in ten minutes, so he was a little slow to catch on.
Luke slid into the passenger seat, buckling up with a grin. “Take the home! Uncle Lennox, didn’t you come all the way out here just to pick me up?”
Lennox didn’t know what to say.
Suddenly, he just wanted to punch someone.
A few seconds later, Lennox walked around to the driver’s side, opened the door, and got in.
Luke hooked up his phone to the car’s Bluetooth and blasted his favorite opera piece. “Hey Uncle Lennox, how did you even know I signed up for classes out here?”
Lennox froze.
‘Wait, Luke signed up for classes here too?’ Lennox thought, completely thrown off.
‘How the hell am I supposed to keep coming here then?’ he wondered, starting to sweat.
Each class cost 200 dollars.
And he still had eight classes left to go.
“I’m your uncle,” Lennox shot Luke a sideways glance. “What could you possibly hide from me?”
Luke grinned. “Yeah, I guess you’re right.”
Soon enough, the car was filled with the distinctive sounds of opta.
Luke slouched back in his seat, grinning. “Uncle Lennox, you didn’t just get into opera for me, now you even drove all the way out here to pick me up. You’re spoiling me!”
As he said this, he gave Lennox’s shoulder a dramatic pat.
“Act normal, and keep your hands to yourself,” Lennox said, his in crawling.
“Ugh, I’m just speaking facts!” Luke said, putting on an annoyingly sweet, girly voice. “Uncle Lennox. you’re so mean! You

totally care about me, but you always put on that cold face. Do you really think acting all cold will keep me away? Not a chance!”
Lennox didn’t know what to say.
He wished he were deaf now.

Meanwhile,
Kindowen.
The Sullivan family estate.
Yvonne had originally come to Kindowen for a two-day conference, planning to head home right after.
But something came up, and she ended up staying for more than three months.
With all that extra time, she’d drop by to see Mrs. Sullivan whenever she could, just to spend time and keep her company.
Right now, Yvonne was strolling through the back garden with Mrs. Sullivan.
Winter was when everything died off.
But the plum blossoms in the back garden were blooming like crazy.
Their petals were bright red, like little flames.
Mrs. Sullivan gently held Yvonne’s arm as they admired the sea of plum blossoms in the garden. Smiling, she seemed to recall something and asked, “Yvonne, do you like plum blossoms”
“Of course. They’re one of my favorite flowers,” Yvonne replied with a smile. “But if I had to choose, I actually prefer the subtle green plum blossoms to the more common red ones.”
Green plum blossoms were refined and unassuming, never competing for attention, qualities that had long endeared them to scholars and cultured folk.
Mrs. Sullivan smiled, her eyes soft with nostalgia. “I remember Afie was absolutely enchanted by red plum blossoms. Back when she was just two months old, every time she started crying I’d hold up a fake red plum blossom to comfort her, and she’d quiet down right away.”
She let out a sigh. “I’ve kept that plum blossom all this time. I jus hope that one day Arie will come home, so I can sit with her and share all those little stories from when she was a baby.”
As the New Year approached, Mrs. Sullivan found herself missing her granddaughter more than ever.
Day by day, her longing for Arie only deepened.
Lately, everything seemed to remind her of her granddaughter, and she just couldn’t help it.
For most families, the New Year meant gathering together and clebrating happiness.
But for Mrs. Sullivan, it was just a painful reminder of who was pissing.
For her, it was just pain.
While everyone else was laughing and celebrating, she was left feeling utterly desolate and forlorn.

Yvonne turned to Mrs. Sullivan and said softly, “Tiffany, don’t overthink it. Even though Arie isn’t here, you still have Luna and Anna with you. The New Year is almost here, try to focus on the happy things!”
“Happy things?” Mrs. Sullivan gave a wry, self-deprecating smile Yvonne, do you really think there’s anything happy I can even remember now?”
After losing her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter one after another,
her whole world turned gray.
Nothing but gray. No color at all.
Everyone kept telling her to let it go.
But how was she supposed to just let go?
They had been such a happy family.
She had such a sweet granddaughter.
But in just one night, everything was gone.
Her happiness vanished.
Yvonne was a mom herself, so she totally got how much pain Ms. Sullivan was in. But honestly, she had no clue how to make things better for her.
Suddenly, Yvonne had an idea. She turned to Mrs. Sullivan and said, “Oh, do you remember that young miracle doctor I mentioned before?”
“Of course I remember,” Mrs. Sullivan nodded.
Yvonne was always proud and kind of a legend. She had almost ever had a good word for anyone. But Nerissa Jamison, that young miracle doctor, was the first person she had actually given a compliment to.
Besides, Nerissa had even saved Yvonne’s life once.
So Mrs. Sullivan had a vivid impression of her.
“My work here in Kindowen is wrapping up, and I’m heading back to Aosthorne soon. Why don’t you come with me. Tiffany? It’ll be good for you to get a change of scenery. Besides, your heat condition still isn’t fully resolved. Come with me and meet Ms. Jamison. Who knows, maybe she can help you finally get better.”
