I struggled to stand, but realized couldn’t move. My fingers had no strength, and my mouth was taped shut.
“Tap tap tap…”
Light footsteps came from outside the living room. A small, dark figure entered. Though I couldn’t see hier face clearly, I immediately knew who it was.
Tanner! Here she came!
I stiffened, ceasing my struggles. The figure approached me, sitting down affectionately beside me, playing with a lighter.
I’ve been waiting for you for three whole days,” her sweet yet sinister voice echoed in the quiet air. The high–end metal lighter clicked as she lit it and closed it repeatedly. The flame flickered at her fingertips, illuminating her pretty face one moment, then plunging it into darkness.
The flame resembled hellfire. If it dropped, it would instantly ignite the gasoline filling the room, turning me into a fireball in seconds. Watching the flame, my heart hung in the air, my breathing slowing involuntarily.
“Are you scared?” Tanner saw the fear in my eyes, excitedly circling the flame around my head. “Don’t worry, it’ll just hurt a little when it burns, you’ll just be a little ugly as a charred log, and… Jason will see you like that, and get nauseous and vomit. That’s how he will remember your final image: ugly and disgusting.”
“Hahahaha…” Lost in a fit of manic delight at the image.
“SHE’S LOST IT, SHE’S REALLY LOST HER MIND!” My wolf’s tone was panicked, but it dared not show any motion.
I remained expressionless. Any reaction on my part would only fuel her.
Tanner stopped laughing, tore off the tape from my mouth, and forcefully pinched my face. “Let’s do this. Bark like a dog for me, call yourself a bitch,, and beg me nicely. Maybe I’ll consider letting you go.”
I stared back coldly, saying nothing. No begging, no weakness. I knew this lunatic wouldn’t let me go. I was afraid of death, but if I was destined to die, I wouldn’t let myself become her plaything.
Seeing my stubbornness, Tanner slapped me hard. “You won’t beg, huh? Then I’ll have someone rape you first, chop off your limbs, cut your flesh into pieces, and finally burn you and this house together!”
My face burned. I still didn’t speak, as if I had lost my voice.
Tanner grabbed my hair, pulling my face close, her expression strange and neurotic, her young face contorting into a demonic grimace. “I’m giving you a chance, can’t you see? I’m giving you a chance to live, you should cherish it, be grateful! Just bark like a dog; you won’t die, you won’t lose any flesh. Otherwise, you’ll die a horrible, horrible death. Aren’t you going to consider it?”
I looked at her, finally speaking.“Murder is illegal. If you kill me, you’ll also lose your life to accompany me; is that worth it?”
Tanner was stunned, annoyed that she couldn’t hear me bark, yet I so easily changed the subject. Even in this situation, I remained calm and proud, not showing any pathetic pleas!
Rage surged through her. She vented her anger by slapping me repeatedly, “Bitch, slut, low–class whore…” Vicious curses echoed in the living room.
My mouth filled with blood. My face was numb from the pain. Yet I gritted my teeth, my voice calm, Tanner, if you kill me, Jason will never be with you. He already feels guilty towards me; if I die because of him, he’ll live with that guilt for the rest of his life, forever missing his deceased partner. You’re a werewolf too. You know exactly what those wolves who’ve lost their bonded partners are like, don’t you? Is that what you want?”
