I felt two dark figures pounding on me simultaneously.

The expected pain didn’t come. The smell of blood overpowered the gasoline.

Aaah-

The next second, a woman’s scream and the sound of a heavy object hitting the floor echoed.

I didn’t know what happened. A tall, dark figure pressed down on me, my nose brushing against his chest. His unique scent stirred something within me.Mr. Shaw..?

Xander, gritting his teeth, said, Let go.

The darkness and my swollen face hid my embarrassment.

Xander stood up, untied me, then, clutching his stabbed lower back, subdued and bound Tanner. He transformed to a wolf. His tail wrapped tightly around me, forming a protective stance, ready to prevent Tanner from retaliating.

This is the first time I saw Xander in wolf.

Jason watched everything unfold, looking at my injuries, his heart felt like it was tearing apart.

He stood there numbly. The surrounding sounds twisted into a venomous snake, swallowing him whole. The consequences of his disloyalty were laid bare before him. He remembered my words: you didn’t all me, but I was killed because of you, which makes

no difference.
