At the hospital, Tanner lay on the bed with her eyes closed. The Cooper family discussed their next move outside the ward.
Zane Cooper answered a phone call.“Jason and Sophia severed the bord?”
His voice carried into the room. Tanner opened her eyes abruptly. Unsuppressed elation radiated from her.
Her wolf was about to crazy, “WONDERFUL!! JASON CAN FINALLY MARRY ME LEGITIMATELY!!”
She got out of bed, pulled out the IV needle, and tried to get up, but due to the epilepsy–inducing medication, she was still weak and fell to the floor.
Hearing the noise, the people outside rushed in. Zane picked her up and put her back in bed, feeling helpless and frustrated.“Can you just calm down for a moment?!”
‘Brother, is it true? Jason really severed the bond?” Tanner grabbed his arm, Her eyes shining.
‘Even if he’s severed the bond, he won’t bond with you. Give it up.”
‘No!! He’s mine!! He has to be mine!!”
Tanner, stop this madness! If Jason wanted to mark you, he would have agreed last time. He didn’t then, and now you’ve done this to Sophia…” Zane took a deep breath, lest he be angered to death, “Do you think he’ll even consider you now?”
‘He’ll bond with me! I have a way! Really, I have a way! Believe me!” Tanner said confidently. Her certainty made it sound like Jason had already agreed.
Zane and the other Coopers were speechless. They looked at Tanner with worry… perhaps she really had a mental illness?
The entire afternoon, I was annoyed by the possibility of Tanner escaping punishment again, especially after learning that the man
in black insisted he acted alone.
The police investigated and found that he and Tanner were indeed friends. He seemed to have a crush on her. Their chat logs lacked evidence of Tanner directly inciting him, no money transfers, just Tanner venting her frustrations and dropping hints.
Although I, the victim, knew Tanner was the mastermind, only the two of us were present. Without a recording, there was no
evidence.
I skipped dinner. I had no appetite. Remembering that Xander might be out of the hospital, “MAYBE WE SHOULD.GO AND
VISIT HIM!”
I picked up my phone to call him, my finger almost pressing his number, then I decided to call Uncle Liam first.
Liam answered. He told me Xander was discharged that afternoon and was at the penthouse apartment.
I was delighted, “I’ll come up now.” Realizing it was almost seven o’clock, I added, “Is that convenient?”
‘Convenient, convenient, come up,” Liam readily agreed, giving me permanent access to the penthouse.
Twenty minutes later, I appeared at the penthouse apartment, carrying a large bag of fruit, which I’d specifically bought. It wasn’t right to visit empty–handed.
Liam had been waiting for me. Seeing the fruit, he said, “Why did you buy fruit? We’re not strangers.”
I smiled, “Where is Mr. Shaw?”
Liam pointed to the left corridor, “He’s in the bedroom, the middle one. Go ahead. I’ll put the fruit in the refrigerator
“Okay.”
I handed him the fruit and went to the bedroom. Only after knocking and entering, seeing the man leaning against the headboard
