Chapter 62
Nathan’s POV
“If something happens to her, I want you to know it is your fault,” Owen growled, looking at me. “If she is dead, her blood is on your hands”
I was staring at him, frozen, speechless. He should be punished. I was his Alpha. He couldn’t speak to me like that in my house.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Liam getting up from the couch in the living room. He walked straight up to Owen and punched him square in the nose. I heard the sickening crack of bone breaking.
My mom and Jessie gasped loudly. Owen was growling, blood pouring from his nose.
“Take that back!” Liam yelled, and Marcus and Blake both dragged him away from Owen. “She is not dead!”
I ran to Owen and grabbed him from behind, locking my arms around him.
“She is not dead,” I told him. “I would feel it. She is alive.”
He was breathing heavily and shaking. A low growl vibrated through his entire body. I let go of him.
“What the hell is going on here?” Alpha King asked as he walked in.
His five warriors were right behind him.
Great. Just what I needed. My father.
I quickly explained everything that had happened. How Emily was gone. How we discovered who Tessa really was.
“So, we actually have the daughter of the Rogue King locked in our cells?” My father’s eyes lit up with a terrifying, dangerous hunger. I could practically see the wheels turning in his head. He was already planning his
next political move.
“Yes,” I growled, my heart aching with every second that Emily was missing.
“Good,” he replied, a cruel smile spreading across his face. “Finally, we are close to catching that bastard.”
The coldness in his voice made a shiver run down my spine. Sometimes, I forgot he wasn’t just my father. He was the Alpha King. He was a man who commanded absolute power and respect from everyone in the world.
“Leave this to me, my son,” he said, turning toward the exit. “Soon, you will have the information on where they
took Emily.”
“Father,” I snapped, reaching out and grabbing his arm to stop him. My blood was boiling. “I want to handle this myself. She is my mate.”
“This is no longer your decision,” he commanded.
It was the Alpha King’s command absolute, unyielding, and impossible to fight. My wolf, Asher, whimpered

All I could do now was wait.
Driven by pure desperation, I walked up to Emily’s bedroom. I needed to feel her. I needed to breathe her in.
I stood in the middle of her empty room, and her sweet scent of strawberries hit me. It felt like a knife straight to
my chest.
I looked around, pain tearing me apart. Right there, by the closet, she must have stood, choosing that damn short black dress she wore to the party. Right there, on the bed, she had slept. I walked over and touched her pillow. It still smelled like her. It still smelled like home.
And then, I saw the desk. This was where she wrote it.
With shaking hands, I picked up the wrinkled piece of paper. My eyes blurred as I saw my name at the top: Nathan. Right before my name, the word ‘Dear’ had been crossed out over and over again, completely blacked out with angry pen strokes.
A painful, bittersweet smile touched my lips. She had so much fire in her. Even when she was hurting, she was
ierce.
But as my eyes moved down the page, my smile died. She was running away from the pack. Because of me.
She wrote that I would regret what I did. That I would suffer.
Oh, Moon Goddess. Emily.
I regret it. I regret it with every single cell in my body. How could I have been such a blind idiot to push my own
nate to this?
I read the letter again and again, each word slashing through my heart. I did this to her.
Suddenly, my father’s voice shattered my thoughts through the mind-link.
“Take everyone and get down to the cells. Now.”
Ten minutes later, we were all standing at the entrance of the dungeon. Liam, Blake, and my top warriors.
My father pulled out a map, pointing at a hidden location deep in the forest.
“This is it? This is the place?” Liam asked, his voice cracking with frustration. “We had been searching there for
lays!”
“But you didn’t look right under your feet,” Garrett replied darkly.
“F*ck!” Liam swore loudly. He paced away, shoving his hands through his hair in pure agony. “We were literally
walking right over her this entire time. She was right there.”
Guilt suffocated me. She was so close, and I had failed to find her.
“Do not lose another minute, my son,” Alpha King ordered, his eyes locked on mine. “Take your best fighters. But

be careful. There is no guarantee this isn’t another trap.”
“Thank you, father,” I said, the beast inside me roaring for blood.
We shifted immediately. Asher took over, and we tore into the woods. We had a massive distance to cover, but at our brutal pace, we would get there in half the time of any normal wolf.
With every bound, my mind was consumed by her, I desperately needed Emily back in my arms. It had been agonizing days since I last saw her beautifulace, breathed in her strawberry scent, or felt her soft skin. The
ejection and the distance were driving me insane, I was starving for her.
I swear, I will rip that rogue apart for touching her. I will shred Tessa into pieces for taking her away. They will curse the day they ever dared to hurt my mate.
After an hour of non-stop sprinting, we finally reached the location. Halting, we shifted back into our human forms and quickly pulled on the shorts my warriors handed us.
“Alpha, Beta,” one of my warriors addressed us.
“Kane.” I nodded. “Show us where he disappeared.”
Kane walked further away, pointing at the forest floor. At first glance, there was nothing. But when I looked loser, I saw a handle made of rope. It was well hidden. Leaves and branches were covering it, making it look like here was nothing there.
I turned to look at Liam. He was nervous, and I could tell that Asher wanted to take over.
“We go inside quietly,” I said to everybody. “Do not kill the rogue. I want him alive and taken to the dungeons. Liam and I will take care of Emily. Nobody else touches her. Understood?”
I heard a bunch of “yes, Alpha” before turning around and pulling on the rope handle.
The door opened, revealing nothing but darkness. I ducked inside and let my eyes adjust to the darkness.

Emily’s POV
I woke up a few times, only to be beaten back into unconsciousness. His brutal fists hit every single part of my ody, breaking me down until I could barely breathe.
“Emily, please hang on just a little longer,” Nyx, my wolf, whimpered in my mind. “I can feel Nathan’s scent. They
re so close.”
I didn’t even have the strength to answer her, but a spark of pure relief flared in my chest.
