Wyatt POV
The boys and I finished our discussions. Justin is going to follow up on a few more leads about who the stupid savior guy is and Maverick and Zach are going to be spending more time with the girls as secret protection. I will be there as much as I can, but I still have to do my job. I got dad to pull all the background checks on the people in her old pack.
I was getting dressed for our date tonight. I slicked my hair back and put on my black dress pants and black button up. I hate sleeves, so I rolled them up to my elbows, leaving the top two buttons unbuttoned.
I have made a few phone calls to my buddies in other packs I have made throughout the years. I have helped them on many occasions and I will need them ready to go when the time is right. We all trained together in an Alpha boot camp of sorts that taught young men how to lead a pack. I told them the bare minimum without major details so they could keep their ears open for any news of moment or information. I trust these guys with my life. Even though they were scattered all over the U.S. There were some pretty close to me and to her old pack.
I am more pissed that her parent’s house burnt down. I wanted to go there and see what her childhood looked like. I hope they can find some pictures to salvage. I told Zach any expense was on me. He told me about her inheritance and how she was well off. I was pretty shocked to hear that. Most people do not leave that much to their kids. It makes me wonder anyway.
“She is ready!” Kelly mind-linked me. 6 pm on the dot!
“Give me a second to be down stairs first” I said, and I cut the link. I grabbed my keys and wallet and made it down stairs to see Justin leaving the house. He was dressed in old dirty clothes, so he blended in better.
“Good luck, Brother” I said to him.
“Anything for our Luna”
“You know who to call if you need help quickly?” I asked more for myself so I knew he would be okay. It isn’t always the safest to mingle amongst the rouges.
“Of course,” he said and nodded his head to the stairs. I turned to see Nina and Kelly walking down the stairs.
I couldn’t breathe, my heart skipped a beat. She is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She borrowed one of Kelly’s dresses. It was a dark green cocktail dress. It had spaghetti straps that led to a deep V neckline and hugged every damn curve perfectly to her knees. She had on some black heel contraption that I wondered how women even walk in, but DAMN!
“Damn, Luna, you clean up nice!” I heard Justin say. I turned my head to him and growled. He didn’t even look ashamed.
Nina started laughing, “Just because I can kick both of your asses does not mean I do not know how to be a lady. I just prefer leggings to this torture.”
“Torture? You look amazing! I had this dress for years and had never worn it. It looks so much better on you! And Wyatt, DO NOT rip this dress!” Kelly threatened, but she was smiling.
I grabbed Nina around the waist and pulled her close to me. She melted into me and my dick was already hard. This was going to be a long ass night. “You look breathtaking” I whispered in her ear.
“Thank you but we must be going!” She said and took a step back to my displeasure. Looking Justin up and down, “Where do you think you are going looking like that?” She asked. My eyes shot up to Justin and I had to force myself to remain calm.
“One must be one with the earth to be connected to their wolf! I am merely embracing my wolf’s side!” Smooooooth I thought as I shook my head.
“Not that I believe that one, but, I do not care right now.” Nina turned to me. I knew she would ask about this eventually. This woman does not forget things. “Where are we headed?”
“Well, I haven’t eaten all day so I was thinking we could grab a bit to eat first” I said, and right on cue, my stomach rumbled.
“Let’s go then!” She said, smiling. I nodded to Justin and smiled at Kelly, silently thanking her. She got the message as she nodded back and we left.
I guided Nina to the car I had someone bring around to the front for me. It was a 2021 Chevrolet Corvette. It was burgundy in color with a solid back interior. I loved this car. I could take the top off and let air flow or keep it up and test all the speed limits.
Opening the door, I helped Nina get in the car before walking around to the other side. Sliding into the driver’s seat, I turned it on and started driving.
“You look great!” I told her again to just start a conversation really, but I did mean it!
“Thank you! You look pretty good yourself! Clean up nicely, I see.” She said, teasing. I loved the sound of her voice. I could listen to it all day.
“How are you….. really?” I asked. I wanted to get this out of the way so we could have a pleasant conversation over dinner.
I watched her squirm in her seat for a second before answering. Her fingers were playing with each other. “I’m okay. I mean, that was my home. All my personal belongings were there and all my pictures with my family.” She said sadly with a hint of anger.
“I know, princess. I am so sorry. We will make a trip there when it is safe for you to show me around where you grew up and we can get whatever is left from Zach’s parents.”
“That would be nice….” She trailed off. Did she not want to show me around? I figured she would like that. To visit her childhood again, but also, there be painful memories. Stupid Wyatt!!! She may not want to ever go back!
“Only if you want to go back, that is, we don’t have to!” I tried to recover.
She gave me a small smile; I think she realized what I was thinking. Stupid empathy. I got to learn to block my feelings. “Thank you for thinking of me” she said and grabbed my hand.
Something about this just felt right. Holding her hand while driving was comforting. “I hope you like this place! It is one of my favorites!”
“I do love my pasta!” Nina said and perked up a little.
We drove in silence till we got there and I pulled up front. There was someone waiting to take my keys and park my car for me. I jumped out, handed him the keys, nodded and opened Nina’s door and helped her get out.
Once she was situated, I offered my arm, which she took, and we made our way to the front door. Once again, someone was there to open the door for us and led us inside. No one has actually met Nina, but they all know she is their future Luna. Since this place is located in a town that is blended with humans and our kind is a secret, no one will be coming up to her tonight to engage in pack talk.
“Right this way, Mr. Evens” The hostess said and led us to a private seating off to the side with the best window view. I saw Nina look at me in confusion before masking it. I really don’t want to tell her I own the restaurant. Although I am very proud of the money and business I own outside of the pack, I try to keep it not public knowledge or boast about it.
I pulled out Nina’s seat and pushed it in when she was sitting in it and walked over to my side and took a seat. The hostess placed our menus in front of us. Even though I handpicked every item for this menu, I pretended to need it. “Your waitress will be right over” the hostess said, bowed slightly and walked back to her station.
Nina looked around, “Impressive little place here.”
“I am very fond of it.”
“So, what is good here?” She asked.
“Technically, everything is amazing, if I don’t say so myself!”
Nina smirked but didn’t comment as she read the menu. I already know what I am going to get so I wait for her to decide.
“Good evening! My name is Hannah. I will be your waitress today. What can I get you to start off with?” The waitress said, looking between us.
“Please get us the bottle of Chateau Lafite Rothschild and two waters.”
