Emerald Eyed Luna novel Nina (by Mrs.Smith) novel Chapter 59

Wyatt POV

“Here, man” Reed said as he handed me a glass of whiskey on the rocks. I had just gotten to his office from making sure Nina was comfortable and Kelly knew what she was supposed to do.

“Fuck dude” I said as I took a gulp and sat back on the couch. “Are we going to have to conference here?”

“No, we need a neutral place. I was hoping we could use your stadium?”

Hmm, that’s an idea. “It’s what three hours from here? It is vacant currently since we haven’t finished building it yet.” I was expanding my business venues and one of them was an event stadium. My pack was growing, and I was thinking about having a sister pack. I had purchased around ten thousand acres of land. It was close to the Tennessee- Alabama border.

“I have already made phone calls and let my allies know what is happening and they all extended their support. Well, that was before the council decided to pull this.”

“Are they really being investigated for those crimes?”

“I have no idea, we do need to get ahead of this. I only need to ask once, Nina was not involved with that pack’s finances, correct?” All that did was earn him a deep growl from my chest. I understood him asking but still pissed me off. “Sorry man, just had to ask. It so happens I did get a video of Nina and her green eyes. Freaky eyes! I took a screen shot and I am going to add it to the memo as proof.”

“I fucking hate having to put her out like this. Okay, you write the email. I will call my men and get them started on setting up for company. Your men will need to take the equipment to the stadium so they can set it up.”

Agreed”

“It goes without saying, Nina will not be here in a week for them to even try and take her”

“Correct. I have a safe house that I built a few years ago. Only a handful of people know where it is. The girls will be there.”

I nodded in agreement.

About 10 minutes later, we both finished with our tasks. I have my men cleaning and preparing the event space and a local hotel to house them. Reed sent out a massive email explaining who Nina is and asked for an emergency meeting. My dad is watching over my pack and has taken measures to hide any documents that need to be kept secret and out of the council’s eyes if they come knocking. He is also moving our pack to a safe location, taking a few warriors and sending the rest to help us down here and guard the meeting. Reed will be sending warriors and IT people to get to the venue and for added protection.

“Are we missing anything?” Reed asked.

“I don’t know”, looking at the clock, it was already passed midnight. “We need to head to bed and start with clear minds in the morning. Grant is supposed to come back at some point.”

We both hear footsteps near the office and we stop and listen. Who is awake at this hour? The footsteps stop in front of the office door and we hear a soft knock.

“Enter” Reed said, annoyed.

The door turns and Nina pops her head in. “I didn’t mean to introde.”

Jumping up, I ran to her and swallowed her in a huge hug. “Are you okay?”

“But. shall you fail, everything will fail” Reed said quietly.

“I will not fail.” She said firmly. “Grant will be here tomorrow and help me control my powers and learn my way around the council. You still need to have your meeting with the alphas, we need their support when the war comes.”

Anger consumed me. I stood up and punched the wall. I know deep down she is right, but fuck! I can’t let her go! What if she dies or they punish her in some way? She has quickly become my everything. As a man, I am supposed to protect my mate. As an Alpha, I am supposed to protect my pack. I feel like I am failing in the two most important aspects of my life. What kind of mate sends his mate to her protentional death? She could already get charged with something she didn’t do, but if she got caught, she would be charged with breaking and entering, robbery or worse. They have killed people for less and they will want nothing more than to kill her, so they stay in power.

Punch after punch I let out my frustration on the wall. What seemed like hours, I finally stopped punching and just leaned against the wall. My forehead pressed up against the exposed wood. I felt the blood seep down from my knuckles that were raised above my head. Dripping down my forearm and on to the floor. My heavy breaths were the only thing making sounds in the office.

“I will not let anything happen to me. You need to trust me and believe in me”, Nina said as she squeezed my biceps. I didn’t respond and I felt her let go. She quietly slipped out the office.

“She is right man. I can imagine how hard it will be for you to let her go but we need that information if we are going to win this,” Reed said. “Come sit and have another drink before you go to bed. You need to be in the right state of mind when you see her next.”

Grunting, I grabbed the drink and made my way to the couch. Looking up, I admired my work. I basically knocked down the wall and you could see the other room.

“Sorry, man. I will fix it.”

Reed waved me off, “I was going to expand my office anyway. You just sped up my time frame.”

I appreciated his false statement, but I will still be fixing it.
