The next morning, I woke up to Mary entering my cell again, but this time she was sporting a black eye.
“WHAT HAPPENED!” I yelled. I went to sit up and my whole body protested. Everything was stiff and cracked as I moved.
“They came in last night and I was cleaning the room to make sure there were no fingerprints or blood marks. Mason saw me and said I took too long to do my duty and hit me. It’s okay though, I have had much worse. This will heal in no time!” Mary said matter-factly.
“You act like it is no big deal for you to get hit?” I said sadly.
“This is my reality. That’s why I helped you. I knew what was going to happen but if you can bring a stop to this, I will do whatever I can to help!” She stated firmly. Mary sat breakfast down and sat down herself waiting for me to eat. It was the same stuff as before.
“I am going to eat a nice juicy hamburger when I get out of here!” I said as I choked down the oatmeal.
“I haven’t had one of those in forever. I think. I don’t remember ever eating one, to be honest.”
I looked at her sadly, “I wish I could get you out with me today.”
“Me too”
“I will try. There is a hidden staircase on the second floor that leads to a storage room on the first floor. On the north side. There is a window I will be leaving from and making a dash for it. Be there and I will take you with me.”
“I know which room you are talking about!”
“Good, be there. When they leave for lunch today, we are leaving.”
“Okay, it is time for you to go though” Mary said as she collected breakfast and left the cell.
I waited for Grant to come get me as he has done the last couple times. And sure enough, I heard the elevator ding and the familiar steps up to my cell door. Grant opened it and looked at me.
“How are you doing?”
“Very sore” I said, not giving away too much. My ribs still haven’t fully healed or my legs.
“Are you ready for today?”
“Yes, I am. I remember the plan.”
“Good, I called Reed and confirmed everyone was in their place and ready for you.”
For some reason, I decided not to tell Grant about Mary. It felt wrong for some reason. “Good”
Grant grabbed my arm and walked me to the elevator. We rode in silence, not really knowing what to say. Just before the elevator doors opened, Grant confessed something to me
“I am an Alpha of a pack, I have people in there that I have managed to help escape and I gave them a place to live. I will give you the address later, but you need to get them and bring them to Reed’s pack for protection. Shit is going to hit the fan here soon and I want to make sure they are safe.”
I nodded but I didn’t get the chance to respond as the doors opened. I was brought into the same room as I was before. They must have washed the blood from the side of the wall with the whips after they were done with me. Strapping me to the chair, I saw all of the men just staring at me.
