I felt the bed shift and causing me to roll on my back. Groaning, peeking through my eyelids, Wyatt was trying to be quiet as he answered a phone call. He was walking quickly to the bathroom and shut the door. He must have been trying to be quiet, but I still woke up. I slept the best I have ever slept, I think! However, just that rolling had every inch of me aching. Damn, this soreness is no joke. I tried several times to use my arms to pull me up against the headboard but failed. Okay, I can do this!

Two more tries later, I finally got it. I pulled a little on my stitches and that is what Wyatt saw when he finally came back out, me looking down at my shirt.

“Your tits haven’t changed any, still there!” he joked as he started the coffee pot.

“Funny, I was making sure I didn’t rip a stitch out as I sat up. They look like they are dissolving anyway.”

“Here, let me look”, Wyatt said as he came over to me. I pulled my shirt up and grabbed my boob, lifting it out of the way. Wyatt got close and examined them. “Yeah, it looks like they are dissolving and will probably pull out here soon. Looks really good though.”

I dropped my tit in front of his face, “How does this look?” trying to sound honest.

Wyatt, however, didn’t find it as amusing as I did. “Funny. Actions like that will cause you a pounding you can’t handle right now!”

“You underestimate me”

“Love, I will never underestimate you. Now put your tit away, you are having company here shortly!”

Sighing, this might be harder than it looks! “Fine, who is it and why?” I said, rolling my eyes at him. It did earn me a smirk. Fine, you win that around. Asshole.

“Kelly and Reed” Wyatt brought me a cup and handed it to me. It wasn’t just a regular coffee. I looked at him confused. “I know you prefer mochas, so that is what I made for you!”

“Fuck yeah!” I said and sipped it since it was hot. I could get used to this. After a minute, I got serious again. “What are we discussing with them?”

Wyatt sat down in a chair. He moved closer to the bed, so it was right next to me. I think he didn’t want to put more movement on the bed and cause me pain. “What you found and what we have been doing. We will have to move quickly.”

“Quickly?” I asked, confused. Wyatt didn’t get a chance to answer as there was a knock on the door. I grabbed the sheets and pulled them over my best and got comfy. I know nudity isn’t a thing with wolves, but I didn’t like not having a bra around people either. Wyatt waited for me to nod to him before he opened the door.

Kelly came busting in. “Holy hell Nina! How are you?” she ran to bed.

“STOP” Wyatt commanded and Kelly instantly froze as she was about to jump on the bed. “She is very sore and still weak. Be gentle!”

Kelly got a very sorry look at her and eased her way into the bed till she was beside me. I put my hand on hers and gave it a squeeze. “It’s okay! I missed you!”

“Are you really okay?” Kelly said. It looked like she was on the verge of tears. “I didn’t know if you were going to make it or not!”

“Yes, I am okay. Sore but I am healing just fine!” I watched Wyatt grab another chair for Reed and take it beside his own chair so we could all talk closely without me leaving the bed.

“I am glad you are okay. How did you sleep?” Reed asked as he sat down.

“Amazingly so. There is coffee if you need it.” I said,

Reed laughed at this. “Kelly has been up for three hours asking to see you. We are good on coffee!” I looked at my friend, she just shrugged and acted like it was no big deal. “If you are not up to this, we can wait another day or so?”

“No, it’s okay. I want to know what I risked my life for.” I said honestly.

Reed looked at Wyatt, who nodded. “Not sure why you are asking him for permission here?” I said, annoyed.

“Fffuuuuccckkk” I said, taking it all in. “When will this happen?” I was nervous to ask that. I knew the answer though, it would happen very soon.

“That is the million-dollar question. The scouts are due to report back tomorrow night. Due to the shipments being stopped, we feel like we were caught. He knows we know now and is trying to cover his ass. Attacking in three days is what is scheduled unless we see an opening. Multiple packs have already moved into positioning for that reason and to watch for any women being moved. We weren’t sure when you would wake up. You need to be there and help kill the council. I am sorry to ask that of you, but you are the only one going to be able to do it. Since you are queen, it is your responsibility, and the others will need to see you do it.” Reed said, looking sympathetic towards me.

Wyatt was shaking his head, he knew what was going to be asked of me but didn’t want to tell me. I felt like it was more that he wanted me to heal, but he also knew I needed to do that. No one else can. I have the abilities of my ring, necklace, wolf and from my bloodline. I am set up for this.

“3 days… Okay, where are we attacking?” I asked, trying to process all of this.

“We are still trying to pinpoint their whereabouts. Not exactly sure where they are hiding, but we have an idea and hopefully the scouts get back to us.”

Everyone sat in silence for a while. Everyone was in their own heads, trying to process what this meant. The loss of a lot of lives, blood will literally be scattered over the whole U.S. I am sure they will have their defenses ready since I escaped. All I could think about was the poor woman and children being treated that way. I can’t even give myself the rest of the day to sit around and relax now. I needed to push through the soreness to be able to do what I needed to do.

I must have had a look of defiance on my face because Wyatt turned very serious. “You are absolutely not getting out of bed today!” My head snapped to his in disbelief. “I know what you are feeling and thinking. I know you need to be ready to go but those stitches need another day and so can you. Two days of moving and working those kinks out is enough!” He finished firmly. Unfortunately, Reed and Kelly both nodded their heads in agreement.

“If those women and children don’t get a break, I don’t either!” I said stubbornly.

“You won’t be able to save them if you can’t even use your powers correctly and this whole thing will fail. We are counting on you to be able to defeat them and if you aren’t 100% then… that isn’t a risk we are willing to take”, Kelly said, trying to sooth me.

I crossed my arms in defiance as I shook my head. How can I just sit here and do nothing?

“We will let you guys talk. I will bring food for you both as you slept till noon and now it is almost 3pm. We will have an early supper and talk more, but for now I will give you guys a chance to speak privately.” Reed said as both him and Kelly walked out.
