Encore of the Avenging Muse (Sylvia and Rupert) novel Chapter 632

After leaving the hospital, Sylvia caught a cab and headed straight to the local branch of the Sanford Group.

She glanced at her watch—Lester had mentioned an afternoon meeting that would last about two hours.

Perfect timing. Still, she waited five minutes before texting him.

“Done with your meeting?”

“Almost finished, what’s up?” Lester replied.

“Just here to pick up my boyfriend from work.”

She followed up with a quick selfie in front of the building and sent it to Lester.

He replied instantly: “Be right down.”

Sylvia smiled softly at her phone, tilting her head back to admire the golden sunset.

A few minutes later, Lester came out the doors.

“Why didn’t you wait inside?” he asked, gently checking if her hands were cold.

Sylvia was about to answer when she noticed a crowd spilling out of the building. Instinctively, she pulled her hand away.

That was exactly why she hadn’t gone inside. She knew someone would ask who she was or who she was looking for—and she wouldn’t know what to say.

Lester seemed to read her mind. He reached for her hand again, nodded at his coworkers with an easy smile, and announced, “My girlfriend.”

“Mr. Sanford, showing off your romantic side? Guess we shouldn’t interrupt!” one of them teased as the group waved goodbye and wandered off.

Sylvia tugged Lester’s sleeve, embarrassed. “You didn’t have to do that.”

“It’s nothing to be ashamed of,” he countered.

Sylvia blinked, feeling unexpectedly grateful for his support.

Changing the subject, Lester asked, “How did your check-up go today?”

“It was fine. I just need to take it easy and let myself heal,” Sylvia said, glossing over the details—she didn’t want him to worry.

“Good. So, where to next?”
