Sylvia glanced at her phone. “Looks like it’s about time. Let’s head upstairs.”

“Yeah, let’s go.”

The two of them turned toward the escalator.

They’d barely taken a few steps when a familiar voice called from behind.

“Hey, bro!”

“Mr. Sanford!”

Sylvia hadn’t expected to run into Reese and Fay here of all places.

Reese looked a lot better than before, and greeted Sylvia with the same warmth as always.

Sylvia, on the other hand, felt awkward. She managed a weak smile and quickly looked away.

She ended up making eye contact with Fay, who was giving her a look of obvious disdain.

Sylvia couldn’t be bothered to deal with her attitude, so she turned toward Lester instead.

Lester frowned. “You just got better, and you’re already out and about?”

Reese grinned, happiness lighting up her face. “It’s the wedding stuff, you know? The planner said we need to pick the flowers for the venue, but Mr. Rupert has no clue about these things, so he just told me to pick whatever I like. Fay and I spent the whole afternoon matching them up.”

“Tell me about it,” Fay cut in, shooting Sylvia a sidelong glance. “Mr. Rupert would probably buy out every flower shop in the city if he could. No one else can compete.”

Reese blushed. “It’s not that extreme. I just like flowers that aren’t in season, so he’s having them flown in. It’s a bit of a hassle, that’s all.”

“Hassle?” Fay scoffed. “He’s doing it to make you happy—right, Sylvia?” She looked at Sylvia with a smirk, clearly enjoying putting her on the spot.

Sylvia tightened her grip on her milkshake, unsure how to respond.

Lester cut in quickly. “Reese, you should head home and rest. Sylvia and I need to catch our movie.”

“A movie? You two—” Fay started, her tone sharp, but Reese quickly stopped her.

“Sylvia, you two are so cute. Fay and I won’t keep you.”

With that, Reese dragged a grumbling Fay away.

Sylvia and Lester exchanged a relieved smile and got on the escalator.

A short distance away, Fay stomped her heel in frustration.
