When the barrel pointed at Sylvia once again, she bolted up and backed away a few steps.
She pleaded, "Sienna, don't do this. You don't have to ruin your own life for someone else."
Sienna advanced with the gun, bloodshot veins slowly creeping into her eyes.
"Of course you'd say that! You have Rupert to shield you from everything, and Lester to comfort you. I only have my mother. If she had treated me like garbage from the start, I could've abandoned her, but she truly protected me once."
Truthfully, Sylvia understood Sienna's turmoil. When trapped in an unbearable hell, the people closest to you become your only lifeline.
How could she possibly convince Sienna to just let her mother go?
A second later, the cold muzzle pressed directly against Sylvia's forehead.
Sylvia sucked in a breath, staring completely still at the woman in front of her.
Sienna said flatly, "I'll tell you one more thing. He refused to tell you about my identity not because he wanted to protect me, but because he didn't want you dragged into this mess again."
"Telling you all this is my way of repaying him for helping me despite our history. And thank you for stepping in front of me when you bought me dessert last time. Growing up, no one ever shielded me from anything."
Sylvia stood frozen.
Despite her paralyzing fear, a deep wave of sympathy washed over her. Sienna deserved better.
In her haze, she thought she saw a man's silhouette slowly approaching.
It wasn't until the face came into sharp focus that reality hit her.
He was actually here.
Rupert.
Sylvia's racing heart began to steady, only to violently surge a moment later, entirely out of her control.
Taking advantage of Sienna's emotional instability, Rupert brought up a dagger and slashed it swiftly across her wrist. Blood hit the floor.
Sienna's hand jerked, dropping the gun as she was shoved forcefully back onto the couch.
Rupert grabbed Sylvia and dragged her toward the door.
He didn't actually want to kill Sienna.
But under Tristan's terrifying control, Sienna had lost all reason. Ignoring her bleeding wrist, she scrambled on the floor, grabbed the gun, and fired wildly in Sylvia's direction.
