Chapter 363 The Kids Are Safe
The moment the words left his mouth, the crowd erupted in raucous laughter.

Willow’s cheeks burned scarlet. Theobold clung to the back of her shirt with white–knuckled fists, terrified she might actually give in.
And those men, emboldened by their numbers actually started reaching for her.
“Animals.”
Klay, who almost never spoke, was the first one who couldn’t take it anymore. The sight of the Newton siblings cornered like this dragged up memories of his own little sister.
He crossed the distance in three strides and drove his foot into the yellow–haired guy’s kidney.
The force of it bent the man backward like a bow. Something in his lower back cracked, a sharp popping sound that echoed off the walls.
He let out a shriek and spun around, cursing through the pain. “Who the hell… you got a death wish, coming at me like that?”
Klay radiated cold fury. “It was me. Got a problem?”
When they saw an unfamiliar face, the men exchanged glances. Some of the wariness drained from their
eyes.
“Well, well. Fresh meat. Just got to our base and you’re already playing hero?”
Tyrant Base was a big place. Not everyone had seen Robin’s group arrive, and these guys assumed Klay was just another newcomer, nobody special.
In their experience, new arrivals kept their heads down and their mouths shut. This one had walked in swinging at established members on his first day. Gutsy, they’d give him that.
nowhere
Willow and Theobold hadn’t expected Klay to appear out of nowhere. Relief flooded through them, chased immediately by gratitude.
Klay shoved the men aside without a word and stopped in front of the siblings. “You two okay?”
Willow shook her head. “We’re fine…”
She turned to check on her brother. Once she was sure Theobold was unharmed, she looked back at Klay. “Thank you.”
“This punk’s got some nerve, acting like we’re nothing!” The yellow–haired guy’s face contorted with rage when he realized Klay wasn’t even bothering to acknowledge them.
“Wanna be the big hero, huh? I’ll turn you from hero to zero right now!”
He locked eyes with the men beside him, and they charged.

A minute later, the whole group lay groaning on the ground, cradling various body parts, questioning every choice that had led them to this moment. How was a newcomer this strong?
“We’re inside the base, so I’m not gonna do anything serious.” Klay’s voice was ice. “But if I ever catch you messing with them again, I can’t promise I’ll hold back.”
He raised one hand. A flickering orange–red flame danced across his palm, and the temperature in the corridor spiked noticeably.
“Now get lost.”
The sight of that fire snapped them back to reality. Fear replaced every trace of defiance, and they scrambled to their feet and bolted, aches and bruises forgotten.
A fire ability user. Tyrant Base barely had any. One this powerful? Practically unheard of.
They weren’t stupid. No matter how much resentment they harbored, this was a fight they couldn’t win.
“Thank you. Really, thank you…” Willow’s voice was thick with gratitude. “If you hadn’t shown up, there’s no telling what they would’ve done.”
She tugged her brother’s arm. “Say thank you.”
Theobold nodded frantically. “Thank you! Thank you so much!”
“Don’t mention it.” Klay’s expression softened just a fraction.
“I’ve got a little sister. She’s about your brother’s age. Seeing you two just… reminded me of her. If she were out there somewhere and people were treating her like that, I’d lose my mind.”
Willow tilted her head, curious. “Where is your sister now?”
She hadn’t noticed anyone who might be Klay’s sister at Robin’s table during dinner.
A quiet smile crossed Klay’s face, and something warm crept into his eyes. “She’s home. Somewhere safe.”
Robin, listening from a few paces back, felt the corner of her mouth twitch upward. Because for Klay and Izzy, Shangri–La really had become home. Without Robin, without Shangri–La, the twp of them would probably be dead by now.
“Home…” Willow stared at him, the word catching in her throat. “My home’s been gone for a long time.” They had a place to sleep here at Tyrant Base, technically. But this wasn’t home. It had never been home. “That’s really nice,” she murmured, pushing down the envy that surfaced in her eyes. “I’m so jealous you still have that. I honestly don’t know how to repay you…”
Robin stepped forward, her gaze sweeping over both siblings. “Do either of you have an ability?”
A flicker of disappointment crossed Willow’s face. “Theo doesn’t. I’m a strength–type, but I don’t have much talent for it. Even with my ability, I’m just a little stronger than the average person. That’s it.”
Robin held her gaze steady. “Can I take a look at Theobold’s condition?”
