Chapter 416 Magical Bandage
The sight of that much blood pouring out had nearly undone him entirely, but before he could even form a single word, it stopped.
Robin tossed him a packet of antibiotics, a bottle of iodine, and a roll of gauze. “Get your wife wound cleaned up. Your son has a fever, and I have something for that too.”
Her attention had already returned completely to Henry.
A breakthrough like this didn’t come around twice, and she wasn’t going to let it slip.
Sevyn caught the supplies with fumbling, grateful hands. “Thank you. I really can’t thank you enough.”
He looked at his son’s torn and bloody legs, and his vision blurred.
He’d gotten away with scratches.
His wife had rebar driven through her body, barely breathing. His son might never walk without complications. The two most important people in his life, broken and laid out in the rubble, and he was the one who came out nearly unscathed.
He set them both down as carefully as he could manage and started working on their wounds.
“Hey! You saved them, so save me too! A little help over here!”
A man’s voice drifted out from a remaining section of debris. “I can almost get out on my own
me a hand!”

Pal smacked his forehead. “Right. There was another man’s voice. I heard it before and completely forgot.”
Everyone had been so focused on getting Lydia and Ryan out that the third person had simply slipped from their minds.
Ella and Dane climbed over and hauled the man free from the rubble. He’d been luckier than the other two by a considerable margin. He’d suffered nothing severe, though he favored one leg heavily as he moved.
Sevyn was still carefully tending to his wife and son when he glanced up and noticed Sevyn was still carefully tending to his wit
something. The man was holding a water bottle. It was one he recognized.
“Hold on. Stop right there.”
He stepped toward the man. “That’s my son’s water bottle. Why do you have it?”
The man looked at the bottle and felt his stomach drop.

His eyes moved quickly. “Mate, you’ve got me all wrong here. I was trapped down there with your wife and your boy. Both of them were badly hurt, and this bottle ended up right in front of me. I kept talking to them the whole time so they wouldn’t lose consciousness. They both made it out, right? When I got pulled out, I saw this sitting there and figured they must have forgotten it. I picked it up to bring it back to you.”
Sevyn’s shoulders relaxed. “Oh, I see. Sorry about that. My mistake.”
“Don’t worry about it.”
The man settled in beside Sevyn, his eyes drifting repeatedly toward the bandages, gauze, and iodine in Sevyn’s hands. “You should get their wounds sorted quickly. Mate, where did you find people like this? Their abilities are incredible, and they’ve got antibiotics and fever medication on them, which is almost unheard of this early after the apocalypse.”
As he spoke, he casually pushed up his pant leg to expose a wound on his own leg.
Sevyn understood exactly what the man was angling for.
But Robin had given him those supplies, and he knew precisely how rare they were. He smiled and played dumb. “I really got lucky running into people like this. They’re pretty decent folks.”
The message was clear enough. If you want something, go ask them yourself.
The man wasn’t satisfied, but his nerve failed him. He had no trouble pushing around people weaker than himself, but faced with someone genuinely formidable, something in him went quiet and uncertain.
Erin had been listening to the whole exchange from nearby, and the color coming off the man’s head was a vivid, alarming red.
Her eyebrows climbed steadily higher.
The man’s wound genuinely hurt. And even if it hadn’t, that pile of medical supplies was difficult to look away from.
High risk, high reward. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
He made his decision and approached Robin, keeping his voice as careful and unassuming as he could manage. “Excuse me, miss, do you happen to have any bandages? My wound is giving
