Chapter 459 Golden Light
Is this a diversion? Is the gomba rying to lure me away from the base?
With intelligence at this level, the zombic was absolutely capable of that kind of tactic
A thinking zombie really was the most terrifying kind.
Robin knew it could be a trap, but there was no way she was letting this zombie live.
It was only Level 6 now, and its intelligence had already developed this far. Worse, intelligent zombies were the fastest-evolving type of all.
If she let it escape today, the trouble it would cause down the road was unimaginable.
Robis planted her feet and skidded to a halt. The instant her left hand pointed skyward, a deafening crack of thunder split the air.
A bolt of purple lightning as thick as a barrel tore through the sky and slammed down. In the heartbeat the zombie spent paralyzed, Robin shot forward, the Violet Reaper carving a blazing arc through the air that seemed to rip reality itself apart.
Genuine fear surfaced in the zombie’s eyes.
It tried to run, but Robin gave it no chance.
The Violet Reaper swept upward in a diagonal slash, trailing an aura of absolute death, and severed the zombie’s head from its body in a single stroke.
Black blood erupted in a geyser. The severed head rolled across the ground, its eyes-which had only recently begun to show a glimmer of awareness-now staring lifelessly at the sky, frozen in an expression of bitter defiance.
“That thing could really run.”
Robin caught her breath, walked over, and split the skull open with the Violet Reaper. Inside sat a black crystal core that radiated a faint golden light.
Golden light?
She wiped the blood off the core with a tissue.
Zombie crystal cores were usually gray or black. But this intelligent zombie’s core was giving off a distinct golden shimmer. That was unexpected.
“Is this core different from the others?”
She asked aloud.
Bell’s voice chimed in her mind. “Greetings, host. This crystal core contains relatively pure
mental strength. The darker and grayer a core is, the more impurities and zombie virus it contains, which means greater side effects for any human who uses it. However, this core has begun to turn gold, which indicates

its energy is comparatively pure and will cause significantly fewer side effects?
“Significantly fewer side effects?”
Robin caught the loophole immediately. “So, you’re saying there are still side effects?”
“That is correct.”
Robin stored the core in her spatial storage. She’d always known that zombie crystal cores contained immense energy, but how to safely harness that energy without triggering the zombie virus had remained unsolved even after ten years in her past life.
Maybe in a few more years, the scientists would have figured it out.
But she hadn’t lived long enough to see that day.
This time around, though, she had the system. Maybe there was a surprise in store.
Robin dropped some very aggressive hints in her mind.
The system played dead.
Robin stared into the silence.
“Fine.”
She sighed with theatrical disappointment. “I guess you just don’t have that feature. And here I was thinking you were actually impressive.”
Robin shrugged, and Bell immediately took the bait. “Host, you misunderstand. I am, in fact, quite impressive.”
“Then make me something that solves this problem.”
A beat of silence. “…The conditions for that have not yet been met. Please be patient.”
Robin’s eyes went wide. “Wait-‘not yet been met’ means-
“You actually have something like that?!”
Bell realized it had said too much and promptly shut its mouth.
Robin was buzzing with excitement.
She’d honestly just been fishing, throwing out bait with no real expectation of a catch.
