Chapter 460 Dawn After the Storm
And if crystal cores ever became completely safe to use, they might very well become the new universal currency of the post–apocalyptic world.
A thousand thoughts raced through Robin’s mind, but she didn’t waste time dwelling on them. She headed back to Heningford Base at full speed.
When her silhouette appeared in the distance, the people on the wall finally exhaled.
“She’s back. Thank God.”
Langston clutched his chest. When Robin had gone tearing off after the intelligent zombie, they’d been worried sick.
Robin was their pillar of strength now. If anything happened to her, the consequences were unthinkable.
Only Pal had remained unfazed throughout, lounging with an air of complete nonchalance. “I told you Robin would be fine.”
She’d soloed a Level 6 water–type zombie. An intelligent zombie with comparatively weak combat ability was child’s play.
The reason intelligent zombies sometimes caught people off guard wasn’t that they were genuinely smarter than humans–it was because even people who knew what they were dealing with still subconsciously underestimated a thinking zombie.
Robin was not the type to underestimate anything.
With the intelligent zombie eliminated, the remaining two Level 6 zombies lost their tactical edge entirely. Now, they were fighting on pure instinct, with no strategy whatsoever.
Fueled by Robin’s potions, the team fought as though they’d never heard the word fatigue. Under their relentless barrage, even two Level 6 zombies couldn’t hold out forever.
Thud!
Ella’s foot came down in a devastating axe kick, and the Level 6 zombie’s skull finally gave way, shattering like an eggshell.
Exposed brain matter glistened beneath the shattered bone.
Dane seized the opening. Silver lightning crackled and lanced into the breach with blinding speed, and the acrid smell of scorched flesh filled the air.
The zombie froze in place, then toppled.
On Klay and Henry’s side, the earth–type zombie was at the end of its rope, thoroughly battered by their relentless combination attacks.
It summoned every loose stone within a 30–foot radius, compressing them into a massive boulder and hurling it at the two of them.

Finsned
Henry and Klay exchanged a glance. The instant the boulder descended, both of them dove in opposite directions.
Klay had been waiting for exactly this opening. He hurled a chunk of iron he’d been heating white–hot in his palm straight into the zombie’s gaping mouth.
The zombie’s jaw was wide open. The searing metal slid down its throat without the slightest resistance, smooth as silk.
“Die.”
Henry’s eyes flashed with lethal intent. He activated his ability.
Boom!
First, a muffled thud from inside. The zombie’s belly turned visibly red–hot. Then came the full detonation.
Chunks of the zombie’s body flew in every direction. No amount of exterior armor could protect something that was being destroyed from within.
Its insides had been completely annihilated.
The zombie’s severed head rolled to a stop at Henry’s feet.
Its body had been obliterated by the explosion, but even now, the disembodied head was still snapping its jaws, staring up at Henry with naked, ravenous hunger.
“Persistent little bastard.”
Henry shuddered and called over to Ella. “Take care of it.”
She walked over and brought her foot down.
The Level 6 threat was over.
They had cleared out the biggest threats in this wave.
ľ
As for the remaining ordinary zombies, Robin’s team had no intention of stepping in. They left the cleanup to Heningford Base’s elite squads.
What better training opportunity could they ask for?
No sense letting it go to waste.
Seeing Robin’s team dispatch even those nightmarish Level 6 zombies, the elite squads were electrified. Every one of them was burning with competitive fire.
Proof, once again, that human potential had no ceiling.
In less than half an hour, the last of the zombies had been wiped out.
