Chapter 126 The Devil’s Boot Camp
“Drake, for instance you don’t have an ability, but you’re a trained soldier with real combat skills. The res of you have your abilities as your lifeline
Everyone listened in attentive silence.
“You’ve seen our setup. The location is hidden, the security is sond, and it’s nearly impossible for anyone to breach. But all of that is just support. What truly matters is that we ourselves are strong enough
“Starting tomorrow, I’m launching a training program for everyone. The civilians without abilities will need our three military personnel-” she nodded at Drake, Martin, and Than–to teach them basic combat.
“As for the ability users–especially Klay and Henry–your abilities are brand new. You can barely control them, which means you need the most practice.
“Starting tonight, you’re staying in the villa. It’ll make training easier.”
“Got it.”
The next morning, before dawn.
Henry was dragged out of bed by the scruff of his neck.
His eyelids were at war with gravity. “For the love of–it’s barely morning. What do you want?”
Robin’s expression didn’t flicker. “I told you yesterday. Special training starts today.”
“But what time is it? It’s barely four in the morning!
Henry groaned. “I was training before you got back, but I got up at five! Four is just cruel!”
“Hm?”
Robin actually looked mildly impressed. “You’ve been running every morning while I was gone?”
Henry turned his head away, a touch self–conscious. “I said I’d train so I trained, I don’t do things halfway.”

Klay was standing in place, nervous but wide awake.
“Hey, Henry”
Henry blinked between the two of them. “Robin, why is it just us? Are we the offfy ones doing this?
“Not the only ones training”
Robin smiled like a cartoon villain. “Just the only ones getting the deluxe devil package
Henry was speechless.
“Klay, your ability is fire. Henry, yours is detonation. Put you two together, and you become each other’s perfect training partners.
“Klay can’t reliably summon his flames yet–they come and go on their own. And Henry, you can’t control your detonation, either.
“Right now, it’s early morning. The temperature is low. That means even a tiny heat fluctuation will passively trigger Henry’s ability.
“So, if neither of you was
to get blown up, I suggest you figure out how to control your powers. Fast.”
Robin stepped back to a safe distance, grinning so wide her face hurt.
This was going to be spectacular.
“This…”
Klay shuddered involuntarily. A terrible premonition settled over him.
“Begin,” Robin said, stepping back to a safe distance and nodding to them.
Henry and Klay looked at each other.
Klay bit his lip. “Okay… here goes, Henry.”
“Do it.”
Henry’s eyes were locked on Klay’s hand, every muscle wound tight.
Klay took a deep breath and extended his right hand.
Henry swallowed. His pulse was through the roof.
“Hyaaah!”
