End Times, Surviving with My Beastly Army novel Chapter 192

Chapter 192 The Meeting

The man’s face flushed bright red. “You

Ella felt an instant fondness for Mary-Jean. She was just as straightforward. Ella replied right away. “We’re from Shangri-La Base. That’s Robin, on base leader.”

Jane let out a gasp. “Base leader? She looks so young. That’s incredible!

“Hmph.”

The man scoffed. “What a joke. It really is a tiny, independent base if the leader has to show up in person. I suppose getting a chance to work with us is the biggest thing that’s ever happened to them. I just hope we’re finding a real partner, not a bunch of freeloaders.”

He kept sneering, and Ella’s expression grew cold.

She gave a sharp laugh and raised her voice on purpose. “Looks like Redwood Military Base really cares about appearances. Internally, you say we’re desperate to partner with you. I guess it’s a pity your own people have been kept in the dark. If they ever found out the truth, maybe they wouldn’t be feeling so proud right now.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

The man’s tone turned sour. “Bases like ours have people lining up to join. If you weren’t the ones eager to work with us, we’d never give you a shot.”

Serena only looked away for a second, and they were already arguing. Worse yet, it was over something so sensitive.

The truth was they hadn’t told their people that the partnership with Robin was something they’d begged for themselves.

It would be embarrassing if word got out, but she hadn’t expected someone so clueless to cause this kind of scene.

Her eyelid twitched violently. “Lyle, keep your mouth shut. Is this how you speak to our partners?”

But Lyle Hartigan didn’t seem to get it. Even after hearing Serena, he was still indignant.

“Captain Serena, what do you think a small base like that is after? Isn’t it obvious?

“They claim to be our partners, but really, they’re just using the partnership as an excuse to tie themselves to us. Why should we be so polite to them?”

Serena wanted nothing more than to strangle him.

Robin smiled faintly, her tone meaningful. “So, that’s how you’ve been spinning things at your base? That we’re desperate to work with you? That we’re trying to attach ourselves to your success?”

“No, no, absolutely not…”

faished

Serena rushed to explain, forcing out a strained smile. You’ve misunderstood. We never said anything like that. It’s just a little mix-up anong the team. This is a mutual partnership, truly mutual

She couldn’t believe she had such a useless teammate.

Lyle finally sensed something was off. He looked confused. “Captain Serena, isn’t that how it is

“Shut your mouth!”

Serena cut him off before he could finish. “If you can’t keep your mouth shut, sew it up. And if you ever insult our partners again, what happens next is out of my hands.

“And that goes for all of you.”,

Her eyes swept over the group, sharp and full of warning. “If I hear even one more word like Lyle’s, showing any disrespect to our partners, you can forget about staying at this base.”

Her words were harsh, and everyone exchanged uneasy glances.

Serena quickly switched to a smile, her mood changing in an instant. “It’s just my people being thoughtless. I’ve already dealt with them, so please don’t take it to heart…”

If she didn’t clear things up fast, she really worried her life would end at the hands of these idiots.

If Robin got angry over all this, would any of them even make it out alive?

Serena knew about Robin’s strength.

Robin gave a half-hearted smile and said, “Captain Serena, there’s no need to get so worked up. This is a partnership. We’re not so petty. After all, harmony brings prosperity.”

Serena forced out a laugh, but inside she rolled her eyes.
