Chapter 258 A Base Divided
“Commander, thank you. Thank you so much…”
As she spoke, she bowed to him.
Finished
Domingo quickly stopped her. “Please get up. Your child looks really shaken. Take him back and let him rest for a while.”
“Okay!”
She nodded hard and looked at him earnestly. “Commander, I may not have any abilities, but if you ever need me, just say the word. I’d give my life for you. I’ll stand with the base till the end!”
Domingo took a deep breath as he watched her leave.
Then he turned to Robin. “Ms. Neel, I’m sorry you had to see this. We haven’t treated you well. But right now, I have something more important to handle. I have to excuse myself. Feel free to look around.”
If he let David keep doing whatever he wanted, there would only be more victims like that mother and child.
He had to stop it.
Robin lifted her hand lazily. “Something more important? Can’t I come along?”
Domingo paused. “Ms. Neel… I need to settle things with David.”
Robin shot back confidently, “Oh? And I can’t stick my nose in?”
She liked this base.
And she liked Domingo’s personality even more.
She wouldn’t mind turning this place into another branch of Shangri–La. More people meant more manpower. More people also meant more points. Why not?
“Besides, I don’t like that guy either. Commander Domingo, you’re not going to stop me from going after him, right?”
At that point, it was impossible for Domingo not to get the hint.
He broke into a smile and nodded. “Of course not! You’re our guest. Wherever you want to go, we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Otherwise, that would be rude.”
At the same time, inside Domingo’s room.
The cheap door lock had been broken on purpose. It hung loosely from the door. David sat in Domingo’s chair like he owned the place, flipping through an old, worn–out novel.

Finished
A man stood beside him, all siniles and flattery. “Mr. Betry, Domingo brought back another big group of people again. Aren’t you going to do something about it?”
David’s expression turned cold. He slowly lifted his eyes from the book and stared straight at him.
The man felt a chill run down his spine. He quickly corrected himself, almost on instinct. “Commander‘ I mean, Commander Berry, Domingo brought back another large group of people. Shouldn’t he be punished?”
Only then did David look away, satisfied. He spoke slowly. “What’s there to deal with? Everything he’s doing now is just digging his own grave.
“Commander Day is a decent man. Once the three–day deadline is up, if Domingo doesn’t bring back enough supplies, I doubt he’ll have the nerve to stay in charge.
“He saved me once; I won’t kick him out. But if he insists on going against me, I won’t go easy on him.”
The man immediately piled on more praise. “Commander Berry is wise! If you ask me, this base should’ve been under your leadership a long time ago. Domingo is just a weak fool. He can barely take care of himself, yet he still wants to help all those useless people. It’s ridiculous!”
David clearly enjoyed the flattery. His mood improved. “Callum, don’t just stand around. Get rid of those useless people now. I don’t want them cluttering up my base.”
Callum nodded again and again. “Yes, yes!”
The broken door closed softly behind him. David shut the book in his hands and stood up.
His eyes slowly swept across every corner of the room.
There wasn’t much in Domingo’s room. It looked simple–almost bare.
David ran his fingers across the table, his eyes filled with open ambition.
He liked this base.
He was going to turn it into his own empire of ability users.
There were more and more people with abilities now. That meant ordinary people were being pushed out.
And if they were already pushed out, what was the point of keeping them around?
