Thinking about the morning’s events, Dane was more convinced than ever that Robin was unfathomable.

“Ella’s the strongest of us physically, but Robin matches her easily. I have lightning–but so does she, and hers is leagues above mine.

“As for hand–to–hand, she looks self–taught–no formal training. But even Tim would struggle against her.”

Henry’s eyes went wide, his shock beyond words.

Dane sighed. “So, do you still think you can take Shangri–La back from her?

“Mr. Henry, I know you hate losing. But against Robin, you need to accept it.

“We should honestly be grateful it was she who took over Shangri–La.”

Henry sat in stunned silence for a long time.

Robin, naturally, had no idea this conversation had happened.

And even if she had, she wouldn’t have cared.

Her mind was on one thing: the sleeping animals.

Snowy had been enhanced by the system before the apocalypse, which was likely why he hadn’t gone dormant. But the rest of the zoo was another story.

The predator zone was divided into wolf, lion, tiger, and bear enclosures.

Klam Zoo had eight tigers total. Aside from Snowy, the remaining seven Gregorian tigers were all asleep in

their enclosures.

“Open it.”

Snowy’s massive paw slammed into the cage. The reinforced steel buckled and tore.

Robin slipped inside. A magnificent striped tiger lay motionless, completely vulnerable.

“Beep! Native creature detected. Combat rating: High. Form a contract?”

“Contract!”

A flash of purple light behind her eyes. A new thread of connection bloomed in her mind.

No time to linger. She sealed the contract and sprinted to the next cage.

The system had given her 12 hours. She needed to contract every combat–capable animal in the entire zoo.

She cleared the tiger enclosure, then the lions, the wolves, and the bears. The zoo was enormous. By the time the predator zone was done, night had fallen completely.

She didn’t slow down. She spotted a sightseeing cart from the pre–apocalypse days, drove it to the next

Finally, with seconds to spare, Robin contracted the last chameleon.

“Beep! Beast Tamer countdown complete. Current Shangri–La combat power: 18,370. Congratulations, host! Task exceeded. Reward: Two new system shop slots unlocked!”

Twelve straight hours of nonstop sprinting. Even Snowy looked tired.

But the moment Robin heard the notification, her eyes lit up.

She opened the shop. Two new items had appeared.

“Ultimate Combat Arts: A comprehensive martial art combining every known fighting style in the world. Cost: 500 points.”
