Chapter 348 The Traitor
Alita rushed over anxiously. “It’s bad, they’re fighting!”
The ship immediately lurched violently.
The people in the hold screamed. “The hull is breached! Water’s coming in! We’re done for!”
Some wailed, some wept, and some tried to escape in the chaos.
Finished
But the pirates weren’t pushovers. They had left two men to stand guard. Anyone who dared to move was shot.
After two people were killed, the prisoners finally quieted down, huddling together, their faces full of despair.
They had survived the plague, only to die at sea.
Seeing the water rising fast, almost to their thighs, Tatiana knew they couldn’t just wait to die. She immediately mobilized Alita and their group to start patching the ship.
At first, the others were reluctant.
“Why should we help these people? They’re pirates, they were going to sell us! They’re evil!”
Tatiana just replied calmly, “Would you rather fall from these pirates‘ hands into another’s? I guarantee you, you won’t even have the life you have now.”
Over the past half–month, her efforts had improved their standard of living significantly. Although they weren’t free, their food and lodging had improved.
If they fell into someone else’s hands, their fate would only be worse.
Thinking of this, they didn’t dare hesitate any longer and automatically began to patch the holes.
Gradually, the other prisoners joined the effort.
Tatiana was soaked and shivering with cold, but she didn’t stop, helping and directing at the same time.
Working together, they plugged all the leaks. The ship wouldn’t sink, at least for a while.
She turned her head and noticed the two pirate guards were gone. Her heart sank. She pulled Alita aside. “You watch things here. Don’t let anyone cause trouble!”
“Where are you going?”
“I’m going up to see.”
“You can’t! It’s too dangerous!”
“Wait for me.”
She hurried up. When she reached the second level, there were bodies on the floor–some familiar, some

not. Blood was everywhere.
She grabbed a discarded gun and moved cautiously up to the deck.
One look, and it was like a movie scene.
The pirates were still fighting in their primitive, kill–or–be–killed style.
Finished
She suppressed the nausea rising in her stomach and scanned the scene. The battle was a tangled stalemate, but she could see that if it dragged on, the attackers had a better chance of winning.
She noticed the attackers‘ methods were more brutal; they would immediately finish off anyone they saw who was still moving.
If they fell into the attackers‘ hands, none of them would live.
In that instant, Tatiana made her decision.
She used her agility to move–silently. Thanks to her year on the island, she had arm muscles and could easily drag a full–grown man.
A heavily wounded pirate, unable to get up, was grabbed by the ankle and dragged backward. He was about to panic. “Don’t move. It’s me.”
The pirate recognized her and relaxed slightly, letting her drag him to a hidden corner.
Tatiana roughly and quickly shoved gauze into his wound. “Don’t shout. Don’t make noise. This is just to stop the bleeding. You hold on. If you can’t, you die.”
The pirate nodded repeatedly.
She repeated the process, dragging several more pirates who were still breathing. She ignored the small wounds, applying pressure to the major bleeding. As for infection? Only the living get the chance to be infected.
Before long, the small corner was crowded with injured men.
They looked at each other, none of them having expected to be saved by a woman they considered a captive.
Tatiana knew her limits. After dragging a dozen men, she was low on stamina. She leaned against a wooden crate, panting.
The attackers noticed that the number of bodies on the deck had dwindled.
“There’s a rat! Kill them! Take the ship and the supplies! Leave no one alive!”
Tatiana shrank back, her nerves stretched tight. She was almost discovered several times.
She stopped rescuing and went to find Captain Hanson. If this fight continued, they would all die.
After some searching, she finally found the captain. He was surrounded by several men, had been shot in the arm, and was clearly in a bad state, his face grim.
