The moment they stepped out, Norman, who had been lurking in the shadows with a cigarette, sent a message to his friend.

“Follow her.”

“Only for you! Do you think just anyone can boss me around? You owe me a big one for this.”

Norman hung up, crushed his cigarette, and began tailing them. Jasper didn’t want to draw any unnecessary attention, so Norman had to handle the surveillance himself. Years ago, Norman had nearly been beaten to death by his own father; if Jasper hadn’t intervened, the grass on Norman’s grave would be six feet high by now.

Being exiled to Antarctica hadn’t exactly been a luxury vacation, either. But now that he was back and looking to reclaim the family business, he needed Jasper’s backing.

So, he accepted the job as his cross to bear.

After a few twists and turns, he watched the two women enter an auction house and relayed the information to Jasper.

“An auction house? What would she be doing there?”

“Buying or selling–there’s no third option. At this hour, my money is on her being a seller.”

Jasper fell into silent contemplation.

“It’s our pleasure. We hope to handle all your future consignments exclusively. Would we have that honor?”

Tatiana didn’t give a direct answer. “Let’s see how tonight’s sales go first.”

“You can rest assured; we are professionals. This is a black–gold invitation for the VIP section. You can use this to watch the proceedings in person.”

She took the invitation and left with Alita.

Once they were gone, the manager’s smile vanished. “What are the results of the second appraisal?”

“It’s confirmed. They are top–tier ‘Old Pit‘ glass–type Imperial Jade. The clarity is flawless. They are raw stones, completely uncarved. The value is… astronomical.”

“And the others?”

“All premium quality, without a single blemish. Sir, we’ve hit the jackpot. These will fetch record–breaking prices!”

The manager was highly satisfied. “Print an emergency flyer and tuck it into the programs. Make sure the hype is through the roof.”

“Understood!”

“Sir, those two are unfamiliar faces. They aren’t from the local circles. Should we… make a move?”

“Idiot! Do you think someone would dare come here to trade with me alone if they didn’t have the muscle to back it up? Did you see how casually she tossed those stones out of her backpack? Someone who treats treasures like pebbles has a formidable background.”

In reality, there was a simpler explanation.
