The smile on William’s face froze, and his breath hitched in his throat.

If Madam Lindsey had been present, she would have recognized it instantly as the song Emily had previously gifted her–the complete, finished version of Yvonne’s swan song.
The melody was hauntingly beautiful, weaving its way into the souls of everyone present. Some of the more sentimental fans found themselves wiping away tears as the final note faded. The stadium fell into a dead, reverent silence for a long moment before a single person stood to applaud.
Then, the floodgates opened. The applause was a thunderous roar. Even William joined in, clapping with a fervor that matched the crowd’s. His eyes shimmered with unshed tears, as if he had been transported back to a memory he held dear. His voice was incredibly soft when he finally spoke.
“You were magnificent. Can you tell me the name of that song?”
She shook her head. “I don’t know. I can’t remember where I heard it. I’m sorry.”
She hurried off the stage, keeping her head down under the weight of ten thousand eyes. As she made her way back to her seat, fans along the aisle offered thumbs–up and whispered praise.
“You sang so well!” “You have to upload that! I want to hear the whole thing!” “You’re amazing! I’m a fan now!”
Behind her mask, her face was burning with a mix of embarrassment and adrenaline. She sank into her chair, wishing she could disappear into the upholstery.
William quickly regained his professional rhythm, launching into a string of his high–energy hits to bring the mood back up, ending the concert on a triumphant high.
Tatiana felt a deep sense of satisfaction as the show closed. She was preparing to leave when a staff member scurried over and whispered, “Miss, William would like to see you personally in his dressing room.”
She hesitated for a split second before agreeing. After all, she still wanted that autograph. Her bodyguards followed closely; their orders were to stay glued to her, so they didn’t object.

The staff member led her to the door and knocked. “Mr. William, I’ve brought her.”
“Enter.”

William was sitting alone when she walked in. The staff member tried to pull the door shut, but a bodyguard’s hand clamped onto it. Seeing the man’s lethal expression, the staffer immediately backed off.
“I’m sorry,” Tatiana explained. “I’m not allowed to leave their sight.”
William smiled, accustomed to the security measures of the elite. “It’s quite alright. Leave the door open.”
The staff member retreated, and the guards took up positions just outside the threshold–close enough to monitor everything without intruding on the conversation.
Tatiana pulled out a CD and handed it to him. “Could I get your autograph, please?”
“Of course,” William said, signing it with a flourish. “What is your name?”
“Tati.”
“Tati? Your name is very similar to hers.” His tone turned complicated.
“Whose?”
“Yvonne. A composer. She was the most gifted artist I’ve ever known–the closest thing to a living Apollo.”
Apollo, the god of music and harmony. To be compared to him was the highest praise possible, especially coming from a global icon like William.
“Was she very famous?”
“She was. But unfortunately… she vanished.”
“I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay. You remind me of her. Your voice is similar, and that final song you sang… the style was almost identical to hers. I actually wondered if it was one of her unreleased works. Can you tell me where you heard it?”
Tatiana looked troubled. “I’m sorry. I was in an accident and suffered a head injury. I’ve forgotten a lot of things. I honestly can’t remember where I heard that melody.”
William’s disappointment was palpable, but he forced a polite smile. “I understand. Would you mind leaving a contact number? Perhaps you’ll remember one day.”

She agreed instantly, her heart fluttering. Getting a celebrity’s contact info was every fan’s
dream.
William had a tight schedule and had to leave shortly after, so they said their goodbyes. Before Tatiana walked out, she turned back and asked, “Did you love her? Yvonne?”
William was caught off guard by the bluntness of the question, but he admitted it with surprising grace. “She was the white rose of my heart. I will always be her guardian.”
It was the classic story of an unrequited, lifelong devotion. It explained why William, nearly forty, was still single and notoriously free of scandals. His heart had been claimed long ago.
She felt like she had just stumbled upon a profound secret. William gave her a playful wink. “Shh. Keep that between us. I’d rather not have the paparazzi breathing down my neck.”
She mimed zipping her lips and turned to leave. As she walked toward the exit with her guards, she suddenly stopped. “Wait here a moment, I need to use the restroom.”
“Don’t be long, Madam.”
“I won’t.”
She stepped into the restroom. Almost immediately, a hand clamped over her mouth. As she began to struggle, a frantic, hushed voice spoke in broken English.
“Shh! Don’t scream. I won’t hurt you. Trust me, please. Tati, please.”
Perhaps it was the raw desperation in that plea that made her stop fighting.
“I’m going to let go now. Please don’t scream. We only have a few minutes. You have to listen to
me.”
