Tatiana let out a faint, dry laugh. Perhaps her carlier worries had been misplaced; a woman like Alita wouldn’t just turn back after hitting a dead end. She was the type to smash right through the wall until it crumbled. Still, it meant she didn’t need to fret over the girl’s resilience.

She turned her focus back to her own affairs. Another message had arrived from the familiar, mysterious number. This time, it contained an address.

The facility was perched on a mountain overlooking the sea, boasting a world–class medical team and an environment designed for healing. It was a renowned sanctuary where the global elite spent their final

years.

Tatiana went alone as requested, leaving the two children under Tammy’s watchful eye. She didn’t even bring a single bodyguard. When she arrived, a staff member was already waiting at the entrance.

“You’ve arrived. Please, follow me.”

She followed in silence until they reached a suite with the most breathtaking view of the ocean. A figure lay in the bed, tethered to various tubes, a halo of silver hair spread across the pillow. At the sound of the door, the person slowly turned her head.

“You came,” a weathered voice rasped.

Tatiana hesitated for a moment before stepping into the room. Despite her fractured memory, she recognized this face immediately.

“Madam Lindsey.”

Lindsey shook her head feebly. “No. That’s the wrong name.”

Tatiana frowned, a flicker of confusion crossing her face.

“Sit. Let me look at you properly.”

Though she didn’t understand, Tatiana had always felt an inexplicable kinship with Madam Lindsey, so she obeyed and sat by the bedside. As Lindsey struggled to sit up, a butler moved forward to adjust her pillows,

“Ma’am, please don’t overexert yourself.”

“It’s fine,” Lindsey waved him off. “Go and fetch the files.”

The butler retrieved a thick stack of documents from a safe and handed them over. “Take a look at these,” Lindsey said. ”

Tatiana took the papers, her brow furrowed. As she began to flip through them, her pupils constricted. She snapped her head up to look at Lindsey, her mouth opening to speak, but the older woman held up a hand to stop her.

“My dear child, finish reading. Once you are done, we will talk.”

Tatiana’s breathing grew shallow and rapid. It took a long time for her to find the strength to turn past the first page–a DNA paternity test report. Lindsey watched her with a gaze that grew increasingly tender, looking at her over and over as if she could never see enough. It was a look of deep longing, of remembrance, and of profound regret.

By the time Tatiana finished the final page of the dossier, she sat in a daze. Her heart was thundering against her ribs, threatening to burst from her chest.

“Child,” Lindsey whispered. “Now, do you know what to call me?”

Tatiana’s lips trembled, but the words failed her at first.

“Tatiana, I have been looking for you for a very long time.”

Finally, Tatiana’s voice broke through. “Grandmother…”

Tears welled in Lindsey’s eyes. “Say it again.”

Tatiana’s vision blurred as her voice choked with emotion. “Grandmother.”

She couldn’t restrain herself any longer. She leaned forward and pulled Lindsey into an embrace. “Grandmother… Grandmother…”

Lindsey wept as she smiled. “I am here. I looked for you for so long, and I finally found you. You’ve suffered so much all these years.”

Tatiana struggled to settle her emotions, never imagining her true heritage would be revealed like this. She had lived under the assumption that she had no family left in this world.

“When your parents died, you were all that remained,” Lindsey said softly. “It has been hard on you. It was my fault for not finding you sooner.”

Once the initial shock subsided, Lindsey slowly began to explain how she had uncovered the truth. Her expression turned sharp and ruthless as she spoke of business.

“Once I realized Donnie was running a human trafficking ring behind my back, I grew wary. I put men on him to investigate everything he had done over the years. That was how I found you. I never expected him to have the audacity to hide the fact that you were alive, forging evidence to force me into a confrontation with the Jackson family. But heaven has eyes–you are alive and well. You are the only reason I’ve clung to life this long.”

In truth, Lindsey’s body should have given out long ago. But for the sake of this reunion, she had cheated death several times, dragging her failing body through the days.
