Chapter 407 Defending Territory
Tatiana’s expression turned complicated. “You… what are you doing with that knife?”
“Defending my territory!”
With that, Tammy spun on her heel and marched out.
Tatiana watched her go, a flicker of genuine concern crossing her face.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town.

Lucas’s head was swimming. He reached out and grabbed the woman’s wandering hand, his voice strained through gritted teeth. “Get out.”
The woman let out a flirtatious giggle. “You were just holding me a moment ago. Why the sudden change of heart?”
“Get out!”
He shoved her off and tried to stand, but his vision blurred the moment he moved. His legs gave out, and he collapsed back into his chair.
Dammit! He was a doctor–how had he managed to get drugged?
He should have known John was capable of something this depraved. He was certain that if he touched this woman, he would be on the front page of every tabloid in the city by morning: the “Golden Boy” caught in a tawdry scandal.
“Get the hell out!”
The woman showed no fear. She crawled toward him again, her hand reaching for his belt—
Thud.
Something hit the floor.
The woman looked down. A few blood–stained fingers lay on the carpet.
She stared blankly at her own hand for a heartbeat before realizing they were hers–severed clean off. Then, the screaming started.
“Ah!”
The piercing shriek jolted Lucas’s brain into focus. He looked up blearily to see a familiar figure standing over them.

“Tammy?”
It was indeed Tammy, and she looked absolutely murderous.
The woman stared at her mangled hand, then at the woman standing before her who looked like a vengeful demon. Her eyes rolled back, and she fainted from pure terror.
Tammy didn’t stop. She raised her dagger high, the cold gleam of the blade promising a lethal edge. One more strike and the woman’s head would be separated from her shoulders.
Just as she was about to plunge the blade down, Lucas lunged forward, throwing his arm out to block her. Tammy managed to jerk the knife back just in time. The tip pricked his skin, drawing a few beads of crimson.
Tammy stared at him, devastated. “You… you’re actually protecting her! You’ve changed!”
The shouting made Lucas’s head throb even harder. Between the rage of being set up and the physical agony of the drug, his temper flared. “Are you trying to commit murder in the middle of the city?! This isn’t your island! You can’t just do whatever you want here!”
Tammy froze, stunned by his harsh tone.
Lucas snatched the knife from her hand and forced himself to pull out his phone. He called a friend to come and handle the situation. Throughout the entire process, Tammy just stood there, motionless and silent.
When his friend arrived and saw the blood and the severed fingers, he jumped. “Did you kill someone?”
“She’s alive. Get her to a hospital and clean this up for me. I’ll owe you one.”
“Right, I’m on it.” The friend lifted the unconscious woman and gathered the fingers. He glanced back at Lucas. “Are you going to be okay? You look like you’ve been drugged.”
“I’m fine. Just go.“,
The friend looked toward the corner where Tammy sat in stony silence. A look of realization dawned on his face, and he smirked. “I see your ‘antidote‘ is already here. You definitely don’t need my help. I’m out.”
Lucas gave a weary, helpless smile but didn’t bother explaining,
Once the room was empty, Lucas struggled to his feet and swayed toward Tammy. He placed a heavy hand on her head and ruffled her hair.
“Stop being mad. You already cut her fingers off; isn’t that enough?”

Tammy kept her face stiff. “You yelled at me.”

“When did I yell at you? If I actually yelled at you, wouldn’t you just cut my fingers off too?” He paused, his voice softening. “Look, I admit I was out of line. Please bear with me. I’m not feeling well, and my brain isn’t working right.”
At those words, Tammy’s resolve crumbled. She looked at him with frantic concern. “Where does it hurt? Are you sick? Are you okay?”
Seeing her eyes filled with nothing but worry for him, Lucas suddenly felt the fog in his mind lift slightly. His tone became instinctively tender.
“Not great. My head hurts.”
He sat down slowly beside her, letting his head rest on her shoulder with a tired sigh. The gesture shattered Tammy’s remaining defenses. Her heart hammered against her ribs, and she sat there, completely flustered.
“Is there anything I can do?”
“No. Just sit still.”
As a doctor, he knew there was no quick fix for the chemicals in his system; he simply had to wait it out with sheer willpower. He closed his eyes, battling his own instincts, but his body betrayed him. Beads of sweat broke out on his forehead, and his knuckles turned white as he gripped his knees.
Tammy watched him from the side, her gaze slowly drifting downward. She stared at a certain spot for a long time.
Then, she reached out and touched him.
Lucas bolted upright like a startled cat, his face turning a ghostly pale. He looked at her in pure disbelief. “Tammy! What the hell are you doing?!”
Tammy looked at him innocently. “I’m just trying to help. It’ll be quick. I’ve seen the elder women in my tribe do this. I haven’t tried it myself, but I know how it works!”
