Chapter 410 The Hidden Crisis
He bowed respectfully, his voice low and steady. “You’ve arrived. Please forgive me for not receiving you at the harbor.”
Jasper finally reacted. “Mm. How have
you
been lately?”
“Quite well, thanks to you.”
Jasper gestured toward the bottle on the table.
Understanding the cue, Lucas picked up a glass. “A toast to you, sir.”
Under the stunned gazes of everyone in the room, Jasper took the glass and drank.
The onlookers were frozen in disbelief.
Just moments ago, Holton had tried to offer a toast, and this titan hadn’t even spared him a glance. Yet now, he was sharing a drink with Lucas?
Sensing the shock and confusion in the room, Lucas knew Jasper hadn’t come for the wine. He was here specifically for him.
It was about Tatiana.
It was only a matter of time before he was found out.
Sure enough, Jasper dismissed the rest of the Lund family, leaving only Lucas behind. As the heavy suite doors closed, Holton and the others stood in the hallway, staring at one another.
“He just kicked us out?” John hissed, his voice trembling with indignation. “By what right does Lucas get to stay in there alone!”
Holton’s expression shifted between suspicion and dawning realization. He had never expected his least–favored son to possess a connection to a man of such overwhelming power.
“Let’s go,” Holton commanded.
Whatever happened in that room would have to wait until he could corner Lucas privately.
Inside the suite, the conversation remained a secret. But news of Jasper’s arrival traveled fast. Beyond the Lund family, other local players began to sense a shift in the air.
The quiet waters of Bellwood were beginning to ripple.
Tatiana remained blissfully unaware of the storm brewing at the harbor. After hosting several

children’s gatherings, she had finally found a few suitable companions for Ann and Hubert.
Surprisingly, even Ann–who usually avoided her peers–had begun to open up. She had naturally become the heart of their little group.
Of course, many years from now, this small band of children would grow into a force that would leave the world both trembling and exhausted.
But as one problem was solved, Tatiana’s health began to decline. Her headaches were worsening. She was forced to increase her dosage, and the excessive use of painkillers was starting to take a toll on her body.
Despite her best efforts to hide it, Lindsey eventually noticed.
“Grandma? You wanted to see me?”
Tatiana walked in with a practiced smile, but her heart sank when she saw the look on her grandmother’s face. Lindsey was holding an empty pill bottle–one Tatiana thought she had successfully discarded.
“Tatiana, what is this?”
She remained composed, her voice steady. “It’s just a standard vitamin supplement, Grandma.”
“Vitamins?”
“Yes. My health hasn’t been great lately, so the doctor prescribed a regimen of supplements and tonics. I have to take them regularly.”
Lindsey still looked skeptical.
Anticipating this, Tatiana pulled out a physical examination report she had prepared. “If you don’t believe me, see for yourself.”
Lindsey took the papers and studied them carefully. Gradually, the tension left her shoulders. The report showed that Tatiana was healthy, suffering only from mild malnutrition.
“Why didn’t you say something sooner?”
“I didn’t want to worry you.”
Lindsey patted the back of her hand. “You must tell me if anything is wrong, do you understand? No more secrets.”
“I know. But you need to take care of yourself too, Grandma. Hubert and Ann need you.”
Since the arrival of her two great–grandchildren, Lindsey’s spirits had improved daily. Having a

future to look forward to had brought the light back to her eyes. Even her primary physician called her recovery a miracle.
The issue was smoothed over, and Lindsey’s suspicions faded.
But the moment her grandmother left the room, Tatiana’s strength vanished. Her legs buckled, and she had to clutch the edge of the table to keep from collapsing. Her face was deathly pale.
If Lindsey had stayed a minute longer, Tatiana wouldn’t have been able to keep up the facade.
The medical report was real, but it was outdated. While her general stats looked normal, the actual source of the pain was deep within her brain. It was an unspeakable agony. Knowing she couldn’t let her grandmother worry, she had prepared that old report specifically for a moment like today.
“Tati!”
Tammy walked in and gasped at the sight of Tatiana’s white face. she rushed over to support her. “Are you okay?”
“Help me over to the chair.”
“Careful, now.”
