Once the location was confirmed, the rest became manageable.

This was the best news they could have hoped for. Foster and Norman were far from ordinary men; with their combined resources and connections, they could move much faster than Tatiana could alone. Her greatest contribution had been pinpointing exactly where Jasper was hidden.
Even Foster, a man who believed strictly in logic and science, found the situation uncanny. He and Norman had arrived in the city days ago and had searched it thoroughly before expanding their radius, finding nothing. Yet, the moment she arrived, she walked right into him.
Was it possible that fate had truly decreed them a cursed, inseparable pair?

Norman, unable to keep his mouth shut, asked, “Don’t you have anything else to say about it?”
Tatiana didn’t respond. She simply gave him a long, cool look that made him swallow his next words and
turn away.
They all assumed she was fine–that she was the same calm, powerful woman she had always been. Only she knew that she was far from unmoved.
“Let’s go,” she said suddenly.
“Hmm? Where to?”
“Since we’re here as jewelry merchants, let’s act the part.”
Tammy’s eyes lit up. “Now you’re talking!”
They headed to the local gemstone and raw stone market. The region was famous for its jadeite, and the markets were sprawling. However, most were tourist traps filled with low–grade stones and rejects. Tatiana led the group through several stalls, but nothing caught her eye.
Even Tammy was unimpressed. “These things aren’t as good as what we have back on the island.” She spoke in the Hindersville tongue; her month of intensive training had caused her fluency to skyrocket.
A man nearby overheard them and approached with a polite smile, speaking in their language. “Are you looking for high–quality jade? You won’t find the real treasures here. The genuine goods are kept elsewhere. I can take you there for a small tip.”
The man was clearly a local guide who specialized in assisting wealthy visitors. Tatiana nodded. “Lead the way.”
The guide nimbly led them through a maze of backstreets until they reached a district where the foot traffic was significantly lighter. Here, the streets were clean and/organized. There were no roadside hawkers, only large, established boutiques. The people walking in and out were clearly of high status, hailing from all over
the world.
“This is it, Miss. The goods here are top–tier. The most prestigious shop is at the very end—the most luxurious one. I guarantee you’ll find something you like there.”
Tatiana paid the man his tip but didn’t dismiss him. Instead, she pulled out a thick stack of cash. “Would you

mind staying on as an interpreter?”

The guide’s eyes widened at the sight of the money. He nodded frantically. “Of course! I’m at your service, Miss!”
The guide led them into a high–end boutique. The inventory here was a world apart from the street stalls; the pieces were actually worth a second glance. The further they went into the shop, the better the quality became. Tatiana walked through the aisles, her eyes scanning the displays, but nothing prompted her to stop.
“What exactly are you looking for?” Tammy whispered.
“Nothing has caught my eye yet. If you see something you like, pick it out.”
The fastest way for a woman to improve her mood was shopping. Spending money brought its own kind of release. Tatiana walked into a specific section and pointed casually at several jade carvings on a velvet tray.
The clerk immediately moved to take them out for her to inspect, but she raised a hand. “No. I want everything in this display except those few.”
The clerk froze, wondering if he had misheard. “Miss… did you say everything?”
“Yes.”
The clerk gasped and immediately summoned the manager, who treated Tatiana with the highest level of hospitality. She paid with her card without a second thought. As the staff scurried to pack the items for delivery to her hotel, a crowd began to gather.
Her behavior was like someone buying groceries rather than priceless jade. Behind her, a dozen staff members followed her every move; wherever her finger pointed, the items were immediately set aside for purchase.
After spending a small fortune, the suffocating pressure in Tatiana’s chest finally began to ease. The resentment she had felt earlier dissipated with every transaction. She began to look at other items with genuine interest.
Finally, her gaze landed on a formal evening gown displayed in the innermost section of the store. The entire gown was encrusted with countless gemstones that shimmered brilliantly under the spotlights. It was the kind of dress that would make any woman stop in her tracks/
The manager immediately launched into a sales pitch. “This is our centerpiece. It took twelve master seamstresses a full year to complete. Every gemstone is natural and flawless. Most notably, the imperial green jadeite centerpiece on the bodice is an incredibly rare specimen. In this dress, you would be the most beautiful woman in any room; everyone would fall at your feet.”
A salesperson’s words were often pure fantasy, but the dress was undeniably stunning. Every inch of it was a masterpiece of craftsmanship. Even Tatiana couldn’t help but admire it.
Tammy saw her interest and was about to tell the manager to wrap it up when a voice rang out from behind
them.
“Wow! It’s beautiful! I want this one! Dad! Buy it for me!”
The voice was bright and cheerful. Tatiana turned instinctively, and beneath her veil, her expression froze.
