Chapter 441 Bitter Ties
*Finished
Currently, Tywin was playing a game of hot and cold with her. He seemed to dote on her, yet whenever she tried to deepen their intimacy, he would gently refuse. He always used the same excuse: that he had no official standing and couldn’t overstep his bounds.
She was both frustrated and flustered. She hated his lack of romantic initiative, yet it only made her more obsessed with him. She was desperate to marry him, and when a woman’s “romance–brain” takes over, no one can stop her.
Because Max had only one child, he pampered Ginnie to no end, granting almost every whim. Seeing her throw a tantrum and weep, he had no choice but to cave.
“Fine, fine. I’ll start the arrangements. We’ll have the engagement ceremony the day after tomorrow.”
“You’re the best, Dad!”
Ginnie excitedly broke the news to Tywin, clinging to his arm with practiced intimacy. “Tywin, once we’re married, Dad will finally trust you and give you real power. Don’t go anywhere; just stay here with me forever, okay?”
Jasper looked down at the top of her head, his eyes darkening with intensity. “Okay.”
He knew his opportunity had arrived. His month–long effort to win over Ginnie had not been in vain. He knew Max’s home base had been dismantled, and he suspected Tatiana had a hand in it. The thought filled him with an incredible surge of joy.
She hadn’t left; she had come back for him. He wanted nothing more than to return to her side immediately, but Max’s men were watching him like hawks. He had also sensed the murderous intent Max had been radiating toward him lately.
This was why he had accelerated his plan and applied a little more “persuasion” to Ginnie.
“As long as you’re here, I won’t leave,” he said, his voice low, resonant, and dripping with feigned devotion.
Ginnie looked up at him, her gaze dazed and completely lost in his dark, jade–like eyes. “Tywin, you’re so good to me.”
She stood on her tiptoes and closed her eyes, leaning in. Jasper watched her approaching face and her pouted lips, a wave of revulsion rising in his chest. He forced himself to lean down and place a soft kiss on her cheek instead.
Ginnie felt a flash of disappointment that it wasn’t a proper kiss, yet the gesture on her cheek felt
exceptionally tender. Especially here, on a busy street with people passing by, many onlookers cast envious glances their way.
She had no idea that across the street, a woman wearing a black face veil was watching the entire scene. Beside her, another veiled woman was nearly shaking with rage. “He doesn’t need rescuing at all! He’s living the high life! Let’s just go home!”
The two women were, of course, Tatiana and Tammy. Tatiana hadn’t expected that the moment they landed and donned the local attire, they would run right into this.

Tatiana withdrew her gaze. She wasn’t angry, “Retreat,” she said calmly.
“Why? According to the dramas, you should rush over there and slap them both!”
“Shh. Look at the people around them.”

Tammy calmed down enough to notice several men hovering nearby, following them closely. “They aren’t bodyguards; they’re jailers. They’re making sure he doesn’t run. Don’t alert them. We’re leaving.”
Tatiana was terrifyingly composed. She analyzed the environment, spotted the inconsistencies, and determined the best course of action in seconds. Tammy settled down as well, though she couldn’t help but mutter, “What an eyesore!”
“Keep quiet. Let’s go.”
They vanished silently into the crowd. Across the street, Jasper seemed to sense something. He looked toward the spot where they had been, but saw only the retreating back of a woman in a traditional headscarf. He withdrew his gaze. Just a local woman. What was I thinking?
“Tywin, let’s head back.”
“Okay.” The two of them walked away together.
Tatiana checked into a local hotel and removed her veil, revealing her face. Tammy had stripped hers off ages ago, complaining, “What kind of custom is this? I can barely breathe in that thing! The women here are so pitiful!”
Tatiana didn’t respond; she was lost in thought. Tammy leaned in curiously. “Are you really not bothered?”
“Hmm?”
“By what we just saw.”
Tatiana offered a thin smile. “Tammy, there’s a phrase in Hindersville: ‘settling the score after the harvest. Do you know what that means?”
“No.”
“You will.”
She wasn’t the woman she used to be. She wouldn’t let raw emotion sabotage a plan, nor would she allow misunderstandings to fester as they had years ago. She knew what was important. Saving him came first.
Now that she knew he was in this area, the rest would be easier. She didn’t keep the information to herself; she immediately contacted Foster. Foster and Norman arrived shortly after.
