Even in Darkness. She Chose to Rise
Chapter 444 The Arrival of the Saint
Those words implied a certain level of trust.

Jasper wasn’t arrogant enough to believe that a single conversation had wiped away Max’s suspicions. It was more likely the bottle of wine. Max had a misplaced faith in that drink, and Jasper had a grim idea of what was inside it.
He stood up. The guards immediately drew their weapons.
Max waved them off. “Put those away. Show some respect to my son–in–law.”
“Mr. Max, I need to use the restroom.”
“Go ahead.”
Jasper walked out of the VIP room, two thugs following him like shadows. They even trailed him into the restroom, refusing to grant him a single moment of privacy. He stepped into a stall while they waited just outside.
Only when they heard the sound of the water running did the guards finally holster their guns. They had no idea that Jasper had just pulled a waterproofed phone from behind the toilet tank.
A message was waiting for him.
“Foster and Norman have arrived. Deployment complete. Just waiting for an opening.”
His gaze sharpened as he typed a quick response. He resealed the phone in its plastic bag, dropped it back behind the tank, flushed, and walked out.
Shortly after they left, a man dressed as a janitor slipped into the room and retrieved the phone. He took one look at the reply and cursed under his breath.
“Damn! He really doesn’t care about dying!”
That evening, Tatiana saw the message he had left. It was only one sentence.
“The engagement party the day after tomorrow. That’s the opening.”
Every eye in the room turned to her. Tatiana said nothing. Foster had already pinned the location.
“They’re holding the engagement here,” Foster said, pointing to the map. “Max has invited several local power players. With such a mixed crowd, it really is the best time to strike.”
Norman, always looking for a reason to stir the pot, couldn’t help but chime in. “Did he really use a honey trap to survive? The guy actually seduced the boss’s daughter!”
Foster, however, appreciated the pragmatism. “It was the most realistic way to stay alive, You probably couldn’t have pulled it off.”
Norman paused to think about it, then jumped up in indignation. “Hey! What’s that supposed to mean? Are you saying I’m not lovable?”

Chapter 444 The Arrival of the Saint
“I’m glad you’re finally becoming self–aware”
Norman looked ready to start a fight. “Just wait! When we get him back, you and I are going at it.
Tatiana ignored their bickering. She stared at the marked location. “I can get inside. I’ll be your inside
contact.”
Norman and Foster both looked at her in surprise. “How do you plan to get in?”
An engagement party for Max’s daughter was no simple affair. The guest list was restricted to business partners and local heavyweights. Infiltrating such a high–security event was nearly impossible.
“I have a way,” Tatiana said coolly.
There was very little in this world that money couldn’t solve. If it failed, it simply meant the amount wasn’t high enough. She had used the jade carvings she bought days ago to buy herself the identity of a “Saint.”
In this region, inviting a Saint to a wedding was considered a divine blessing. Any family with the means would pay handsomely to have one attend. Max was no exception; he had paid for a Saint’s presence, and Tatiana had simply replaced the original.
With her face veiled and her body completely covered in traditional robes, it was impossible to tell that the woman had been swapped.
On the day of the event, she arrived at the venue on an elephant–mounted palanquin, swaying as she was ceremoniously escorted inside. Legally, she and Jasper were still husband and wife. There was a dark irony in a wife attending her husband’s engagement to another woman.
She found herself eager to see the look on his face.
The venue was bustling and vibrant. Max’s influence was significant; he had invited many local kingpins, many of whom were Hindersville immigrants who had moved to the area years ago. They showed their respect not only by attending but by bringing lavish gifts.
Max stood at the entrance, laughing heartily as he greeted guests, the joy of the occasion masking his fury over the loss of his base.
“Congratulations! A fine son–in–law you’ve found! You finally have a successor!”
“You’re too kind. He’s just a young lad with a lot to learn.”
