Even in Darkness, She Chose to Rise
Chapter 462 Pandora’s Box.
Lucas stood frozen as his expression darkened instantly.

On the bustling street, a sleek, aggressive motorcycle weaved through the heavy traffic with reckless abandon, hurtling toward the mountain peak. Several times, as it leaned hard into the sharp mountain curves, it looked as though it might clip the guardrail and go airborne.
But Norman handled it with a masterful, fluid grace, dancing along the edge like a tightrope walker. It was pure, high–stakes adrenaline.
Tammy had never been on a motorcycle before. She let out a wild scream, which only prompted a more devilish laugh from Norman. After a few heart–pounding turns, her fear evaporated, replaced by a deep love for the extreme rush.
The wind had long since swept away her sadness and rage. When the bike finally screeched to a halt at the summit, she felt a pang of regret that the ride was over.
“Well?” Norman asked.
“That was incredible!”
She dismounted and yanked off the helmet. Her long hair cascaded down, framing a face glowing with a radiant, high–energy smile. Norman was captivated by her beauty; he couldn’t help but run his tongue over his lower lip.
“Can I try?” she asked, her eyes burning with an eager, restless light.
“Sure. Come here, I’ll show you the ropes.”
She stepped forward immediately.
“Sit up here. This twist is the throttle…”
He gave her a brief overview of the controls. They were standing incredibly close–so close that a single movement would have brought his face against hers. She didn’t smell like perfume; she carried the faint, clean scent of body wash. Like fresh grass. He felt like a hungry beast ready to graze.
Realizing where his thoughts were heading, his face clouded over. He straightened his back and spat on the ground. Get a grip.
“I’ve got
it! I’ve got it!”
Tammy was completely oblivious to the brief moment of tension, entirely absorbed in the joy of her new toy. “Let me try!”

Finished
Norman took a few steps back, returning to his usual nonchalant stance. “Fine, give it a shot. There are no cars here, so it’s safe. Just remember not to gun it too hard at first-”
Proom!
He swallowed a mouthful of exhaust.
The bike shot forward with explosive speed. Norman’s face went pale, terrified that he was about to witness a fatal crash. But when he looked up, he saw her execute a perfect, drifting U- turn. Tire marks smoked on the pavement.
It was a maneuver of suicidal difficulty for a beginner. Norman fell into a rare, stunned silence.
Tammy, however, was ecstatic. “I did it! I did it! Did you see that?”
Norman’s mood was a complex knot. “I saw it.”
Tammy rode the bike back to him. “Can I take it down the mountain?”
“You can, but you have to promise to be safe. Don’t do anything stupid.” For some reason, his heart was racing. He felt as though he had just helped her open a Pandora’s box.
“Don’t worry!”
Her ambition was already override her caution. Once she had his permission, she roared off down the mountain path. Norman stood there, scratching his head. “I hope nothing goes wrong.”
Of course, the universe had other plans.
While Tammy was savoring the thrill of the descent, a sound reached her from behind. A quick glance in the mirror revealed several motorcycles closing in. The riders clearly knew one another; they formed a pincer movement, gradually catching up and boxing her in.
Feeling provoked, she immediately accelerated. The riders stayed glued to her tail, leaning in dangerously close. At that speed, even a slight bump could cause a catastrophic wipeout.
Tammy did her best to dodge them. But every time she managed to gain some distance, they would close the gap on the next curve. She was a natural talent, but she lacked experience; many technical nuances were still foreign to her. After several turns where she nearly hit the rails, her mood soured completely.
She gritted her teeth, pulled a sharp 180–degree turn, and headed back up. She expected them to leave her alone, but they turned with her, following like a pack of wolves that had caught the scent of blood.
