Chapter 473 The Underworld Sanctuary

Want some chips?

Finifred

Tammy popped open another bag, the crisp crunch echoing as she offered some to Sylvie. This was part of the massive stash of snacks Norman had bought for hera generous haul, to say the

least.

No thanks, you go ahead. But listen, when your man gets back, you’d better stop being so lazy. Otherwise, he’s going to leave you.

Tammy puckered her lips. He wouldn’t.

How do you know?

Tammy playfully shook her fist. Because I’d beat him up.

Sylvie burst into laughter. She didn’t believe a word of it, of course. The physical disparity between a man and a woman was a force of nature, especially when the man was a fighter. How could she possibly compete?

Still, a genuine pang of envy hit her. This striking young couple shared something beautiful. There was a time when Sylvie’s own husband had doted on her just like that. But the bright lights of the big city had a way of blinding people, and over time, their affection had withered into something unrecognizable.

Feeling a lump in her throat, Sylvie whispered, Hold onto him tight. Don’t let anyone take him from you,” before turning to leave.

Tammy watched her go, completely bewildered, and went back to munching on her chips.

Meanwhile, Norman was out picking up food, determined to find something delicious for Tammy. They hadn’t eaten well the past few days, and he felt she had suffered enough. Luckily, the arena had paid him out; with cash in his pocket, his mind was finally at ease.

In high spirits, he stopped to pick up some roast goose. Just as he was about to step into the shop, a prickly sense of danger washed over him. He discreetly caught sight of a pedestrian passing by.

The stranger looked stunned, immediately pulling out a phone to make a call while turning to follow him. Norman instantly picked up his pace, weaving through the crowd and losing the man in seconds.

Realizing he’d lost his mark, the man panicked over the phone. Miss! He’s gone!

The man was one of Tatiana’s subordinates. He had seen Norman’s photo and recognized him

instantly, but by the time he’d for backup, Norman had vanished.

Hidden in a dark corner, Norman’s expression was grim. He knew it falling into the river hadn’t been an accident. They were being hunted. He had to be more careful; they couldn’t afford to be discovered.

When Norman returned with the food, he immediately broke the news to Tammy. After a quick discussion, they agreed that they had to be hypervigilant whenever they stepped outside. They needed disguises.

Tammy was the bigger risk; her exotic features were far too beautiful and striking. Norman tried to get her to wear a hat and a mask, but she complained that the mask was too stifling and refused.

Compromising, he found her a pair of oversized, thickrimmed black glasses. He even bought colored contacts to hide the distinct hint of green in her eyes. Once she was styled, she was almost unrecognizable.

Satisfied, Norman settled into their new routine. He threw himself into his training, fueled by a singular ambition: he was going to fight his way to the top floor and give his woman the life she deserved.

Tammy didn’t find their seclusion boring. She loved watching the fights, and since Norman wouldn’t let her near the ring herself, watching him was the next best thing.

Sylvie also became a frequent visitor. She had never had many friends; her days were spent cooking and waiting for her husband. Coming from the countryside, she couldn’t quite shake her provincial air no matter how she dressed, so the other fighterswives looked down on her.

Tammy was different. Because of her amnesia, the world was a blank slate to her. She was happy to talk to anyone, eager to learn. Plus, Sylvie was an excellent cook and often brought over homemade dishes. Since neither Norman nor Tammy knew their way around a kitchen and relied mostly on takeout, Sylvie’s homecooked meals were a godsend.

While they were putting down roots in the underground arena, Tatiana was growing increasingly frustrated. It had been exactly half a month since they disappeared. Her people had scoured every inch of Bellwood, yet they had come up empty.

Well, not entirely empty. One of her men had spotted Norman once, but the boy was too fast, and the trail had gone cold again. Still, it confirmed they were still in the citysomewhere- and likely unharmed.

Knowing they were alive lowered the urgency for Tatiana. While she kept the search parties active, she shifted her focus back to her business. Her newly founded company had just gone public, and the workload was immense. Between the IPO and the search for Tammy, her time for Jasper had dwindled to almost nothing.

They hadn’t seen each other in a week. She was taking a rare break when a message from Jasper popped up.
