Chapter 502 The Truth
A frantic, panting voice came from behind her. “Tammy, is that you?”
The voice sounded familiar, but the second she turned around, her face twisted with pure disgust. It was him again. The guy she slammed into the pavement last time. And he was still using that name.
“It really is you!”
Lucas looked like he just won the lottery. He rushed toward her with wide eyes. “I knew it. God, I have been looking everywhere for you!”
He was not faking the relief. He had been trying to track her down for days, but he was blacklisted from the underground gym. No matter how he tried to sneak in, they spotted him and kicked him out.
He had been losing his mind. He even tried to get Tatiana to step in, but she would not even give him the time of day. He knew she was still pissed about his past screw ups, and he was stuck with no moves left.
Then, by pure luck, he saw that familiar figure vaulting over cars like some kind of urban predator. Even under the layers and the mask, he knew it was her. He ditched his car right there on the curb and took off after her.
Against all odds, he caught up.
Tammy did not have time for his shit. She turned to keep walking.
‘Tammy! Wait!”
He reached out and grabbed her arm without thinking, totally forgetting she had no idea who he was.
Predictably, he ended up flat on his back again. His bones felt like they were vibrating from the impact. H gasped for air, waiting for the pain to subside. This time, Tammy had held back a little. At least he could still breathe.
Stay the hell away from me.”
Lucas forced himself up while coughing hard. “Tammy, I am sorry. I did not mean to grab you. I am just I am overwhelmed.”
‘I am not Tammy. My name is Flowie.”
‘No, you are Tammy. Did you seriously forget who you are?”
Seeing how she was acting, Lucas had already guessed she had amnesia. There was no other reason for her to look at him like he was a total stranger.
“I do not know what you are talking about. Move. You are in my way
She sounded aggressive, and she looked even worse. It was obvious she was in a foul mood. Finding out your husband might be a cheating prick will do that to you.
Lucas could not stand the way she looked at him. She looked at him like he was a piece of trash on the

sidewalk. It was a far cry from the way she used to look at him, with that intense devotion that was meant for him and him alone. He could not handle the rejection.
“Is it because of him?” he blurted out. “Did he feed you a bunch of lies? Do not trust him! He is a piece of
work!”
Tammy stopped dead. She looked back at him. “Who are you talking about?”
“Norman!”
“I do not know who that is.”
Lucas whipped out his phone and tapped the screen. “Look at this.”
A photo popped up. The guy in the shot was unmistakable. He looked sharp and full of himself, with that same arrogant, dangerous smirk she saw every day. Her husband.
You fell into a river with him and vanished. I have been searching for you ever since. Tammy, you have to believe me.”
She went quiet. She thought back to her first memory. She remembered crawling out of the water, half lead.
She felt a flicker of confusion. “Wait. I did not jump because of some suicide pact?”
Suicide pact? Bullshit! You two were not even together!”
Lucas was losing his cool. The gentleman act was gone, and his voice was raw. He caught himself, took a ›reath, and tried to steady his voice. “Look, it is not what you think. Let’s just talk.”
Ten minutes later, they were in a cafe.
Lucas ordered her a milk. She did not hesitate. She knocked back half the glass before looking at him. Fine. Talk.”
Lucas gave her a pathetic, bitter smile. “Tammy, you do not have to be so tense. I am not going to hurt you just want you to know the truth.”
f there was a textbook definition for too little too late, Lucas was it. He was starting to realize just how nuch he screwed up.
He took a slow breath and started from the beginning. “Your name is Tammy. You are from the Sylla slands. You grew up in a coastal tribe…”
An hour passed.
Lucas was hoarse by the time he finished the story. He looked at her, desperate for some kind of sign that she understood. But she just sat there, looking completely checked out.
His heart dropped. “Tammy, you think I am lying? I have proof. Hold on.”
He started scrolling through his phone, looking for more photos. But he realized he barely had any of her. The ones he did have were group shots or pictures where she just happened to be in the frame.

Then he hit one she forced him to take. They were both in it. She was beaming at the camera, while he looked visibly annoyed to be standing next to her.
He froze, trying to swipe past it before she noticed.
Too late. Tammy saw it. She gave him a cold, knowing look. “Does not look like we liked each other much.”
