Chapter 523 Tammy
Lies were like snowballs, rolling and growing until they eventually exploded
“Bovine? Or should I call you Taven? Actually, that’s a mouthful. Bovine wounds better?
Sitting in the booth behind them, Tatiana nearly choked on her tea
Norman didn’t flinch. “Yeah, I agree
Tammy stared at him for a few seconds before loving it, laughing so hard she almost did out of her seat
I’m just kidding. You don’t have to use that name if you don’t want to. Taven’s fine. It sounds good”
A name like Bovine had made him a punchline for years. Now that he had his real name back, it was for
the best.
Tammy’s expression flickered, a trace of loneliness crowing her face.
“I found your real name, too, Norman said.
She snapped her head up. “What is it?”
“It’s Tammy.”
“What?”
He dipped his finger in a spill on the table and traced the letters.
“Tammy. That’s you. You’re from an island. Sorry, that’s all I could find. He won’t let me use his resources to dig any deeper.
Tammy stared at the wet marks on the table.
She was basically illiterate. Sandra always joked she was a cavewoman. It made sense; you don’t go from a primitive island to mastering a written language overnight.
But seeing those letters hit her like a physical jolt.
I know this.
I remember someone writing this for me, teaching me how it looks.
This really was her name.
The more she looked at it, the more she liked it. “Okay. From now on, I’m Tammy.”
“Mm. Tammy.”
The way he said it was low and thick with affection.
Tammy’s face turned bright red. “Hey, knock it off. Just eat your meat.

Norman grinned and went back to the grill
Once the air was clear, Tammy kept pushing. Do you want to go back? Your family looks loaded”
“Do you want me to?
She thought about it and shook her head.
“That family looks like a mess. You were gone forever and they never looked for you. Now that they found you, it’s nothing but trouble. Why bother?
“Okay, I’ll listen to you. We won’t go back
Tammy started beaming again, satisfied as she went back to her food.
Tatiana watched them. Seeing the smile that never left Tammy’s face made her relax.
Hubert chewed on his spoon and whispered, “Mommy, does Alita like Norman?”
Ann cut in. “You got it backwards. Norman likes Alita. Alita liked Lucas, but she was never happy. She just got hurt all the time.”
“Right. So he wasn’t the one.”
Tatiana almost laughed at Ann’s bluntness. The kid wasn’t wrong. Since losing her memory, Tammy hadn’t suffered at all with Norman. When she was with Lucas, she was always covered in bruises.
Speak of the devil.
Tatiana looked up and saw Lucas at the door. He looked like hell, his eyes glued to the couple.
He started to walk toward them, but a tall figure stepped in his way. Lucas recognized him instantly.
Lucas. The Boss wants a word.”
Lucas looked past him and saw Tatiana wearing her disguise glaring at him.
He swallowed his frustration and walked over. Ann and Hubert moved to make room.
Tatiana nodded. “Sit. Eat.”
He didn’t have the standing to say no. He sat down.
“Grill it yourself,” Tatiana said coldly.
Hubert shoved a pair of tongs into his hand. Lucas had no appetite, but he had to play along.
“Who told you we were here?”
“I was driving by and saw you.”
Tammy and Norman were sitting right by the window facing the street. It was an easy spot.

“What are you planning? Lucas asked.
“Tatiana, that’s Tammy. You’ve been looking for her this whole time. Now that you found her, why aren’t you taking her?
“And do what, exactly?”
“Norman is hiding her. He’s up to something”
“Is he? And I suppose you’re the good guy here?”
Tatiana hadn’t forgotten what he’d done. Lucas went silent.
Lucas, stay out of this
“What does that mean?
ised Norman one mo. For this month, nobody disturbs Tammy. Got it?”
why would you
hat? A month is too long! She’s right there! She..”
